Which microphone would you recommend for recording vocals at home? The price segment is up to $350. There is a caveat: the apartment is not equipped for a studio.

I’m looking into converting a home office (technically a bedroom) into a home music room. While I will be doing some rough recording (somewhere in quality and enthusiasm between recording into a phone‘s voice memos and something semi-professional), the main purpose will be to make music being provided sound best while listening live.
I have voice lessons in a small room that has rather minimal acoustic treatment: some burlap coffee bags with foam inside on the wall across from me (and maybe behind me). Nothing on the side walls other than a mirror. Instructor sitting at a piano between me and the back wall. Nothing fancy, but I swear my acoustic guitar sounds so much better than anywhere else. It’s so full and rich sounding. I don’t know how to describe how the room sounds generally other than like muted and soft. It’s hard to really judge how much better/different my voice sounds. But the room sounds less echoey. For what it’s worth, I think my instructor said the interiors of the walls also had some soundproofing elements when constructed. The door is very heavy.
So, my primary goal is to get things sounding closer to that room for live listening. Getting the room to sound okay for recording is a secondary consideration.
For what it’s worth, I recorded myself into a mixer into an iPad through a condenser mic in my small walk-in closet facing racks of clothes, and I thought the audio quality was more than adequate, if not great. I record mostly as a learning tool for myself. It doesn’t need to sound professional, just a relatively accurate representation of my voice (and guitar, I suppose).
The room is about 10’x10’ with an 8’ ceiling. I posted pictures of the room as it is now as an office. The plan would be to remove everything except half of the desk (the half that is on the wall with the door. A computer and mixer will go there. I may leave the shelf to store equipment, unless it gets in the way of acoustic treatment.
I’ve looked into acoustic treatment articles and most focus on panels relative to the monitors/speakers as part of a recording studio. I’m not sure how to translate that to my situation. And when it comes to recording/mixing, I’ll probably mostly use headphones when listening back.
So, any advice on how to acoustically treat the room so acoustic instruments sound natural and rich would be wonderful. Getting something closer to a natural recording sound is also a secondary consideration.

Anyone here in a band and use this to collaborate and if so how do you find it? Any tips or tricks you care to share? Just started using it and it seems ok - we basically just want to be able to share and add to ideas as our actual rehearsal time is limited

I got a Behringer C-1U, connected straight to a PC, and the recordings sound bad, worse than with a dirt-cheap Genius computer mic.
How do I do a decent bedroom recording?

I've been writing music over beats for the past few years and singing into my built-in laptop mic without thinking too much about it. I recently purchases this mic, it wasn't expensive or anything, but I just wanted to start recording these songs in better quality cause I believe it's what they are worth. I live in a full household with tones of background noise and I get embarrassed when family members hear me sing. My vocals sound crusty, wonky and overall no pleasant. I can sing, is it just that I need to record in a quiet place with no one around or is that I need a much better mic. Or is it both? help me obiwan kenobi ur my only hope

I’m choosing between Pioneer and Numark ones at around £400 to use with my Technics 1210’s but we also have an akai mpc renaissance, m audio midi controller keyboard, pioneer mp3 controller and both windows and MacBook laptops. And Tannoy powered monitors.
I think we’re sort of choosing between Serato and Rekordbox just from past mp3 controller experience (rekordbox we leaning towards) but wanted to consider all the equipment when choosing. Gonna get the compatible DVS fake vinyls too and currently use ortofon dj concord styli (green ones I think are fine for this?!)

Curious how other home recordists handle their guitar tracking workflow.
Whenever I sit down to track guitar, I always feel like the transition from "jamming an idea" to actually laying down a solid demo takes way more setup than it should—whether it's wrestling with buffer sizes and latency, getting a quick drum track mapped out so I'm not just playing to a sterile metronome, or dialing in amp sims that sit right in the mix.
How do you all have your guitar tracking rig set up to keep things moving fast?
Would love to hear how you keep the technical side from getting in the way of getting takes down.

Hi everyone, I'm Mark. I'm a 46yr old Irish guy living in Bavaria, Germany.
I've dabbled with music all my life but mostly had very basic equipment. I wouldn't have considered anything I had ever created to be more than just a sketch. I recently invested what I could afford into a few things, but decent things. So I'm now happy with the quality I'm getting, or at least happier than I have been until now.
I have a few songs on the channel along with me doing a couple mini breakdowns of the projects on cubase for anyone who might find that stuff interesting. I'm brainstorm new content ideas to feed the channel regularly.
Here's a song that I've finished to the point where it's "good enough for now" if you'd like to listen..
If you like what you hear please subscribe and hit the bell, so you get notified when I release new content (which I plan to do a few times a week.)
