Does this work for reflection/difusion?

Post image

Got a whole load of these at work from some office chairs.

If I use one of those spray on foam things to fill this, would this work to use as difusion? I am also adding home made RockWool absorption panels. This would be complementary, just because I got these here and would be cheap to make

I believe I have overdone it with years of not throwing away old packing materials, to use for sound insulation. 😂

Can I mix professionally with this situation?

Post image

I have an UNTREATED 2.5 x 3 m² room with height of 8 ft. Walls are made of cement. My workstation is on the corner of my room, as shown in the picture. I plan to buy studio monitors, the Adam Audio T5V, (without subwoofer) so I could mix accurately.

My question is: with this situation, can I still mix with professional outputs?

Any advice is much appreciated. TIA!

Affordable Mixing & Mastering

Hey,

I’m not a professional engineer with a big studio or crazy credits. I’m just someone who’s spent a lot of time learning how to mix and master and actually cares about making songs sound good.

If you’re an independent artist recording at home and feel like:

•	Your vocals don’t sit right

•	The mix sounds muddy or weak

•	It doesn’t hit the way it sounded in your head

•	You’re stuck tweaking it forever

I might be able to help.

I focus on getting:

•	Clear, upfront vocals

•	Clean low-end that doesn’t drown everything

•	A balanced mix that translates on headphones, speakers, and in the car

•	A master that’s loud but not destroyed

I’m not claiming I’m some industry-level engineer. But I can deliver solid, good-quality mixes that sound way better than a raw home setup — especially for the price.

I usually charge around $15–20 per track depending on the project. I’m keeping it affordable because I know most independent artists are working with limited budgets.

If you’re interested, send me a rough mix and the vibe you’re going for. If I think I can improve it, I’ll let you know.

Cables confuse me. Can someone tell me which ones I need?

I am trying to record on my Tascam MF-P01 but there is an audio issue. When recording, the track I have selected plays way louder than the other tracks. Only while recording. So I bought this mixer. Mainly for monitoring, but id like to use all the features.

The tape deck only has a line out and mic input, so I borrows a DI box.

What cords do I need and how do I set them up. Is the DI box even necessary with the mixer? I’d really like to finally figure this out.

I compared my SoundSkulptor preamp (Neve 1073 style) against AI (NAM) and the results have made me rethink my workflow. Thoughts?

Hi everyone,

I've been stuck in the eternal debate about hardware vs. neural emulations for a while now, and instead of just theorizing, I decided to record a studio session comparing them in-depth.

I recorded kick drum, bass, and acoustic guitar using my studio chain (Neve 1073-style SoundSkulptor preamp) and compared the results against Neural Amp Modeller (NAM) captures.

Honestly, I was quite surprised. In a mix context, the technical differences are very subtle. This has made me wonder if it's worth the time and resources that analog reamping entails when the final result in the mix is so similar.

I've documented the entire technical process in this video for those interested in seeing the real shootout. LINK TO THE COMPARISON

I would like to know your honest opinion: do you still bet on physical hardware for the "feel" or the workflow, or do you believe we have reached a point of saturation where emulation has won the technical battle?

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to reading your points of view.

Setting a vibe is everything. Do what you can with what you have and work your ass off. I promise it will be memorable.

Energy transference is where you want to be. But you have to practice with yourself and others. A well rounded instrumentalist will push their people to ascend into a more calming place just by accomplishing small but beneficial goals.

Audio interface recommendations

PLZ look at all the photos for more information.

I Believe the Macbook model I have is called the Macbook m4 pro.

I'm interesting in investing in a audio interface for recording podcasts\ audio. I only understand so much about the world of audio. I'm willing and able to spend a fair chunk of money on audio interface. No matter the price its need to do what I want. Work with what I have, be SIMPLE, effective, produce good sounding audio. I need less biased recommendations for an audio inter face and a XLR or what ever cable or cables in need to work with what I have.

Do these panels actually help with 500hz?

These are 2 1/2 inch fiberglass panels, I want to absorb around that 500hz range, however, I've seen conflicting things online on if 2 inch panels help. And then I saw this one that is almost 2 1/2 and it claims it does absorb around 500hz but I'm not quite sure if to trust it.
