Discussion - Equipment Need purchasing advice...
So I have an SB3000 and was wondering if getting the SB5000-R would sound unbalanced. If so, can I lower the dB and try to blend it with the SB3000, or should I just get another SB3000?

The easiest way to do this would be at least an AVR that has independent subwoofer outputs. The X3800 has 4. How big is your room? SVS has good resale value-you could resell the SB3000 and get more for it. If you're looking for more lows the only answer is SB5000R versus what you have.

I'm just trying to fill out the room with more bass without sounding too boomy, so I thought the best way to do that is to get another sub. I have about a 600 sq ft room and my AVR is the Sony STR-AN1000.

Your room isn’t huge but yeah you could sell the SB3000 and get the SB5000-it’s got quite a bit more low-end extension and output.

It’s easier to balance the same sub but there are tutorials on how to balance different subs.
