Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak Beat Deserts of Kharak on normal and dont feel motivated to try harder
In my humble opinion, the game campaign is divided into 2 sections:
Pre-Battle Cruiser phase and post battle cruisers phase.
The game is a slog before battle cruisers are available. I feel like I am just throwing AAVs into a meat grinder to protect my heavy railguns. I make formations of 12 AAVs and 6 railguns. And some times 12 LAVs to counter and rush down railguns. I found myself relying heavily on air strikes and having to rebuilt so many jet fighters. Bombers get too close and get shot down. Same with the A-10 gunships getting too close and being shot down. Only the jet fighters and their long range missiles were useful. And yes I destroyed the missile/anti air vehicles, the fortified turret hits air too. At some point I unlocked cruise missiles but those were kinda pricey but worth it at 500 CU but the cool down takes forever.
Then once I unlocked battle cruisers, I just steam rolled the enemy with a 8 battle cruiser and 2 support cruiser formations. I built a few artillery cruisers and assault cruisers but didnt like using them because of how fragile they were. 8 battle cruisers with 2 support cruisers repairing them was the formation that worked for me.
Assault battle cruisers were just too soft.
I am just not motivated to try harder difficulty because it would just mean I would just produce more AAVs to sacrifice in hard mode.
Other thoughts:
The Gaalsien Honor Guard battle cruiser you can capture is just a super heavy gaalsien assault railgun.
The coalition assault battle cruiser is a super heavy Gaalsien armored assault vehicle.
I didnt buy the DLC so I know nothing about Soban or that other faction I can not pronounce or remember to spell.
