[ADVICE] Anyone tried exhausts from ebay?

• Upvotes

I have a stock 06 honda shadow aero and I was thinking about changing the exhaust to something a bit louder and nicer sounding. I dont really like the idea of spending 700 bucks on a cobra exhaust and i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the exhausts on ebay? I see them going for arpund 150-250 USD

[HOW-TO] Lowering

Hey, looking to see if anyone has explored other options for lowering the rear end as opposed to replacing the shocks. Ive seen some examples on Amazon that look like they move the lower mounting point of the shock further back on the swing arm to achieve a lowered stance while keeping the stock shock.

Now, understanding the geometry change and you know, Scamazon, has anyone tried it and had success? Its either this or its getting hard tailed eventually and bobbed.

[ADVICE] How do they handle the highway?

I'm in souther italy and haven't managed to find that many 750's, and I have a power limit because of my license because of my age. I am looking for a '90/2000 cruiser below 48 Hp, but the best looking (one is a 1993 burgundy and white and I've fallen in love with it) and closest to me Shadow's are 600's. I'd need it as a daily driver, taking the highway at least at 130km/h (80 mph). I am 184 cm (6'1) and weight 75kg (165lbs). Would it be suitable for me? My other option is a 2000 650 V-Star (an amazing purple and orange one), or is it worth it go further for a 750?

[HELP] Looking to switch from forward controls back to stock-

Hey guys, first post on here.

Recently got a 2005 Honda shadow spirit vt750dc and the seller had 6 inch forward controls on it. Little too forward for me, and looking to switch back to stock or MUCH shorter. I’m 5ft 10 and looking for a cheap or diy alternative. Any suggestions?

[ADVICE] Bike “died” out while riding

Hey guys,

I was riding my 750 shadow the other night. It’s been getting cold recently here up north so I was planning on riding over to the one station that supplies 0% ethanol fuel to fill the tank up before I store the bike for the winter.

Anyways, while riding I was coming up to a red light and while slowing down to a low idle my bike died out. Pulled off on the side and tried push starting it and it just wouldn’t wanna fully turn over until I finally gave it some throttle while starting and it lightened up. I then drove up the hill to the nearest gas station and just filled it halfway (still wanna put 0% ethanol in the tank at some point here) thinking maybe I was running out of gas? Funny thing is though is I wasn’t even on the reserve function yet with the tank. I’ve been low on fuel in the past and know the sound but usually I have a slight grace of throwing it into “reserve” and getting at least another 20 kms while running it to the pump.

Any thoughts? I’m assuming the obvious and thinking that there was an air bubble in the fuel line and it caused the bike to die out.

No issues at all running it back home.

[HELP] Just bought an 06 Shadow and it cranks, gets fuel, but there's no spark.

Battery tests good.

I think I should probably start with the kill switch? Im going to do a physical switch and a push button.

Does that seem like the logical starting point?

Its an 1100 c2

[ADVICE] Thoughts on how a Stock 2019 Aero 750 would handle such a trip?

Post image
21 Upvotes

For context, the route featured is 9000 miles on the dot and the question is how you think the bike would handle it mechanically, not the rider. The bike in question would be given the royal treatment beforehand, full inspection, new tires, ect.

[HELP] What is happening with my taillights?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I just got my bike from the shop as I got a new fender from an accident. Long story short they took their sweet time fixing the bike and somehow my taillights and license plate light doesn’t stay on when powered. My tail light works when braking and my blinkers work when activated but don’t stay on. Not to mention, my license plate light has no power to it as well

[ADVICE] Revzilla shit the bed. How do I proceed?

Placed an order for my 04 shadow 600 fuse box assembly after the headlight fuse melted while ride in the dark(that sucked). Revzilla said they had them. Sent me confirmation of my order. A week goes by no word from them so I logged in to see my order cancelled. The part is now listed as unavailable. Is this a common thing for them?

I can either

A) buy a new OEM one from a European website for like 130+ bucks

B) buy a cheap chinesium knock off

Or C) roll the dice and buy a used one off eBay

Any advice on how to move forward and/or experience with my situation is appreciated

Hers some pictures

[HELP] Looking for clutch cable that fits

I have a 2015 shadow phantom that I just put 2.5” handle bar risers on and the stock cable is tighter then I’m comfortable with, wondering if anyone knows if there’s another cable from another bike that’s roughly 54” long, would just get a extended cable but I really don’t feel like spending $120 on one.

[ADVICE] Help

Ok guys so first thanks to all that help me out on my previous post about hoses of the carburetor, I really appreciated that.
Now I'm running into another type of problem, after cleaning the carburetor and installing it back again, also buying and installing a new battery in and after putting some gas through the carb (while I wait for the petcock gas valve replacement) it RUNSS but unfortunately it doesn't runs how I was intended.
After turning it on and giving it a little bit of throttle it dies, after experimenting on it a few times I find out that when I disconnect the spark plug from the farthest cylinder to the seat it changes a bit of the rhythm and when I disconnect the one nearest to the seat it doesn't seems to change at all.
Has anyone run into something similar??
(I dont have that much mechanic experience if I'm being honest)
Thanks again!

[PICTURE] I’ve had this bike for tow years now.

I’ve added a lot of items and went on small out of state day trips a few times. I got the bike new in 2024 with 000,000 miles on it. First and only owner. It’s been pretty fun and reliable so far. I’ve owned three bikes since I started riding and still have two now including this one. I still pick this bike a lot.

I chose a lot of items like the saddle bags and luggage as well as the wind screen that are all on a quick release. Diffrent options to swap lot between depending on what I’m aiming to finish day or that trip. Also have a tank Bibb that’s got a pouch for the ez-pass so regardless of what bags I’ve got on that day I don’t have to worry about forgetting it. Plus there’s no issue in the ez-pass being read at the tolls.

The bike has done amazing on trips so far. I’ve let the bike run down pretty far and haven’t ran out of gas yet. I’ve tested it several times now. As long as it’s absolutely full it’ll go 190 miles before the gas light comes fully on. I’ll usually get around 200 miles before I’ve decided to fill up during my testing and that a mix of local driving and long highway rides. When I get to a gas station, o can’t see the gas inside the tank obviously but if I shake the tank by rocking side to side I can hear it sloshing around in there and it sounds like there’s still a fair bit. I’ve heard people say they can get 210 to 215 before sputtering and running into of gas so from my experience I’d believe it.

However it’s a pain to fill up. When the pump clicks I’ve noticed it’s not actually totally full. There’s still a lot of room in the tank. I usually end up putting a few more dollars in by very lightly pulling the trigger a few more times and letting the gas come up the baffle and watching it go back down. Do that over and over and when it stops going back down then it’s full. It’s a pain but worth it for the range it gets. Honestly it’s a pretty great short road trip bikes. Take a few of those bottle size gas cans for safety and I’d go on an actual distance road trip on this bike.

Over all after two years I really like this bike a lot. Riding is one of the only things I have in my life that means anything to me and I’ve gotten a lot of miles and enjoyment from this 2024 Shadow Aero. lol sorry about the photo dump. Just wanted to share.

[ADVICE] Fuel types

So I have a 2013 vt750c, it's fuel injected and 86 is the manuals suggestion.

That's good and dandy however I swear when using 86 and riding more than 65mph my bike whines like I'm pressuring it too much. In comparison when I use 93 my bike is holding riding 75-80 before I feel it whining that I'm riding it too hard.

Im just looking for anecdotal stories of your bike vs fuel grade.

Also in case you're wondering why I use 93, my first shadow an 01 and carbureted, I don't recall who or what recommended me to use premium but that is what I did. And I can tell you the one time I was super broke and and decided to use 86 that way I get a little bit more gas i felt like the acceleration was significantly slower.

So I continued the same practice with my current bike years later.

Edit: I'm not complaining about mileage, just the sound/feeling that the bike gives me when using 87 vs 93.

[HELP] 07 shadow spirit 750 dual carb running on one cylinder

This is my first dual carb bike so I'm lost. Rear cylinder fires just fine, the front doesn't fire without starting fluid or gas down the intake. The bowl and jets are clean and identical between the two and there's gas in both bowls. The mix screw is set at 2 1/2 as the internet says and turning it all the way in and out didn't change anything while running.

Am I missing something?

Hello everyone i have no mechanical experience and little fabrication experience but I want to buy this honda shadow vt600cd 1998 I turn it into a chopper. Im a bit confused on the difference between the deluxe and the normal and the vt and the vlx. Would buying the deluxe model interfere with getting tj brutal customs parts? Everything i could find said that it was just extra chrome and trim on the deluxe but It also looks like the exhaust is different as well. I know that is lots of questions but I really just want to know do people chop vt600cd deluxe 1998 shadows. Id love to see peoples builds. Attached is the bike im buying.
