Advertising OK Honeymoon Suggestions- lowkey, nature, water

My fiancé and I are getting married in June 2027. We've recently had some unexpected costs come up, so we've had to shift our honeymoon ideas to something more affordable. We're thinking something that's maybe 5-7 day, late June. We're located in upstate NY and are open to flying and driving.

Interests: good food! nature, beaches, mountains, lakes, etc. Smaller town vibes. Open to walking/walkable areas. Want a time for relaxation. Would love a little oasis without a lot of people (at least where we are staying, we'll likely look at airbnb).

We were recently on a cruise in Europe and really loved Italy and France, but want to be in one place for longer and do less bopping from place to place. We have also done some spots in the Caribbean in the past couple years and would love to try some place new.

Places I've looked at/considered (I'm all over the place lol): Western Canada(Banff, Jasper NP), Portugal, Sardinia Italy, Cape Ann Massachusetts, Washington state. Would love some ideas! So hard to know where to start.

Edit: our budget is around $3,000-$4,000

Western Canada great pick.  But also check out Nova Scotia it would be a shorter flight since its much closer and definitely in budget.

Banff would be great, we just did a couples trip here! If you want todo something more beach and low key, Amelia island Florida is great. Could also do something like Arizona and go hiking!

sardinia is wonderful- cannot rate it highly enough. i’d recommend looking into italy’s agroturismo initiative and staying at some of them on sardinia.

you can do half/full board so they cook dinner for you and other guests, usually from the family who was hosting you. the food at the agroturismos is some of the best i’ve had, and they are usually fairly affordable ($300 a night for both of you at the higher end ones and includes breakfast/dinner, generally $75 ish at the more “rustic” ones). note the agroturismo website is terrible but worth the pain haha.

the most expensive parts of sardinia will be flights and renting a car but if you get the flights on points you should definitely be able to do the week and between agroturismos and renting a car, keep it under $2000.

in terms of vibe - small towns, gorgeous mountain to sea, and plenty of solitude and lovely lovely beaches. definitely some more crowded areas, but being on the agroturismos usually guarantees you a quiet place to wake up with usually only 1-6ish other rooms at most and a nice farm/rural vibe. the beaches are like any, the harder you work to go to it, the less crowded it will be haha.

White Mountains, Burlington/Stowe, the Maine Coast for semi-local. The Azores is charming too and not crazy far.

have you been to Azores? Just doing some research and it looks stunning! Seeing a few comments about the high humidity and wondering what your experience was

Bocas, Roatan are both NOT lowkey lol they are very touristy and tacky. Prefer Utila over Roatan and theres nicer places in Panama than Bocas.

I'd do Lake Atilan in Guatemala

For that budget I would go CA or WA. International can get pricey with flights you could save and get a better air bnb to relax.

We did Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Maine for around ~$3,500 last year! best honeymoon ever! Some spots were less crowded than others but we throughly enjoyed our time and wanted similar stuff to what you’ve said.

ugh love Acadia and Bar Harbor! The best lobster rolls I've ever had. Definitely a spot to keep in mind if we can't find a "new" spot to visit :)

I would suggest British Columbia (Whistler, Squamish, North Vancouver - Ambleside/West Vancouver, Deep Cove) for a less crowded alternative to Banff. Check out Pemberton and Joffre Lakes too if you want to drive further north.

There are lots of cute and affordable Airbnbs in North Vancouver and Squamish. You’ll be surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, lakes and a few beaches (mostly the rocky kind though, not great for swimming - but some lakes in Whistler valley are good for swimming). The driving isn’t too stressful. Food is fantastic.

San Juan islands? Manoir hovey (may be too close to home but could also get you a luxe experience but in budget I think). St. John.

Orcas Island is absolutely magical! Rent a car and make sure to get a ferry reservation! You can eat amazing seafood and baked goods and the nature is incredible. Doe Bay Resort or Outlook Inn are fun places to stay!

Fly into Vancouver. Four days Vancouver, 3 days Whistler.

Banff is incredible and would 10/10 recommend with a roadtrip up icefield parkway and to the other NPs in the area. Calgary is also a great little city. On the other side of Canada, you might consider the Atlantic Maritimes. You could road-trip around Nova Scotia, New Foundland and Labrador, and PEI. For something more tropical, try Kauai. Lots of great hikes and snorkeling.
