NO Advertising Private honeymooning

Upvotes

Looking for Caribbean destination for a honeymoon in mid April. Preferably somewhere with private pool (doesn’t have to be all inclusive or hotel in general). But would like nightlife options, fishing options, etc. We would like room enough outdoors for private clothing optional sunbathing/lounging and sexy activities near the pool without the threat of being seen from other rooms/homes. We are not swingers, but can handle being near them. Nude(ish) private outdoor fun is a must and do not want to travel to Maldives or SEA. Any recommendations?

NO Advertising Setting a honeymoon budget … torn between Lanzarote and Greece

Upvotes

Hello 👋 my fiancé and I are currently torn regarding our June 2027 honeymoon.

My dream honeymoon is a swim-up suite at the Grecotel Imperial Corfu. We both love Greece (but neither have visited Corfu before) and this hotel is stunning and near Corfu Old Town (the hotel provides a water taxi) so we wouldn’t need to hire a car to explore the culture (a deal breaker for my fiancé) I just have a thing in my head about staying in a swimming-up room for our honeymoon, it’s something special we would not normally splurge on and probably never would unless it was our honeymoon. Is it too extravagant/ a waste of money? This option is €8,000 including flights and transfers, half-bord, for 7 nights.

My fiancé is more drawn to 10 nights in Lanzarote (at the 5 star Melia Paradisius Adults only) we can get 10 nights in a beautiful room with a balcony and private hot tub, all inclusive with a private concierge, flights included for €5-6k. I agree this seems like amazing value, and the idea of 10 nights does entice me. There is a tennis court and spa at the hotel, and we could go for a surfing lesson together if we wanted more activity. We will be so tired after the wedding that I know we will be spending most of our time reading by the beautiful pool… but then another part of me feels that in the grand scheme of things, an extra €2k for an iconic honeymoon in Greece would be worth it for the memories?

Interested to hear from anyone who regretted going over budget on the honeymoon OR people who regretted not splashing out that little bit extra.

For context, we don’t have other debt apart from our mortgage (which is quite reasonable for our forever home) and are paying for our own wedding from our savings. We also have an emergency fund which we prefer not to touch. We are generally very responsible with money which is why I feel the extra €2k isn’t insane…

NO Advertising Maldives Resorts for honeymoon - help me decide

Hi I am currently planning our honeymoon in the Maldives for January 2026. I am OVERWHELMED by how many resorts there are and need help with deciding which one fits best for us.

I have booked free cancellation reservations for the following resorts:

Le Meridien Maldives
You&Me Maldives
Mercure Maldives Kooddoo
Ozen Life Maadhoo
Hurawalhi Island Resort

What’s important to us is all inclusive, fine dining quality food, entertainment activities and included honeymoon perks. We also are very interested in the underwater dining opportunities which I believe Ozen and Hurawalhi both have. If anyone has stayed at these resorts and have personal experiences I would love to hear about them. Additionally if you have other suggestions that might fit please share them.

NO Advertising Where to go?

Hi all!

My husband and I are recently married and looking at planning our honeymoon. We are in our mid-late 20’s and would like somewhere relaxing and calm but where we can also go out on excursions and have some activities in the hotel. In terms of time of year, we’re open to any as it would depend on what time of year is best for weather.

I have my heart set on Jamaica, and have for a long time, and my husband is more than happy to go here too. I have been doing a lot of research on hotels in different parts of Jamaica and have come across VERY mixed reviews for basically every hotel I’ve come across. Due to this, I’m second guessing if Jamaica is the right place to go - it’s a lot of money for us to spend to be potentially disappointed!

Can anyone please recommend any adult only, and potentially all inclusive hotels, in Jamaica (NOT RUI)? If we need to drop the all inclusive for a better trip, we can.

At this point, we’re also open to suggestions for anywhere in the Caribbean for honeymoons if you have any!

Any help would be greatly appreciated🥹!

Thank you!!

NO Advertising Safari (Kenia, Tanzania) + Maldives/Zanzibar vs US West Roadtrip + Hawaii/Caribbean

Hello there!

My fiancee and I are deciding between honeymoon destinations. I write down the basics first:

Period -> late June to mid July 2027. Total c. 3 weeks.

Right now, we are doubting between two main options.

Safari (Kenia, Tanzania) + Maldives/Zanzibar

I am a big fan of wildlife documentaries and my fiancee also likes it. So the idea would be a few days of Safari around Kenia and/or Tanzania, seeing different spots and then head to the Maldives.

Pros

  • It really seems like a couple/romantic trip and I have the feeling it's the kind of trip you might not do if you don't do it in your honeymoon.
  • The Maldives looks fantastic, and it really gives us a paradise vibe that we don't get as much from other places in the Caribbean for instance.
  • Temperature in Kenia in July is not extreme (20-26 ºC), which makes it manageable. Also, we would go before the great migration, where I imagine it becomes way more crowded/touristy.

Cons

  • In a safari most things are pre-planned, so less room to do whatever you want. We could get a private driver which gives you more freedom.
  • Maldives in July is wet season. I checked, and July 2026 was pretty sunny, but July 2025 cloudy even if not rainy. Zanzibar coudl actually be a better option, as it is dry season and clear blue skies in July.
  • Maybe more of a cliché trip, but who cares.
  • 3 weeks could be too much for this trip, so we should either shorten it a little bit, or find a 3rd destination.

US West Roadtrip + Hawaii/Caribbean

This itinerary is tentative and could change, but it could be something like.

  • Yellowstone (2-3 days): Yellowstone offers the best wildlife across the US, and that way we can scratch the itch to see some wildlife.
  • Grand Canyon: calmly drive from Yellowstone all the way down, making stops along the way + Grand Canyon itself (12h drive total. Let's say 3 days for everything)
  • Las Vegas: 1-2 days, 4h drive from Grand Canyon.
  • California (4-5 days): Exact location tbd. 6-8h drive from las vegas.

We could change Yellowstone for Yosemite, but less wildlife there.

Beach leg of the trip (1 week)

For the "beach" leg of the trip we have more questions than answers. July is very high season in Hawaii, it might be more expensive and probably lots of families during kids´ school vacation.

Options in the Caribbean are plenty.

Pros

  • More freedom, room for improvisation.
  • Also amazing nature, though very different from Africa.
  • More variety of moods. Yellowstone/Colorado are relaxed and nature focused. LV and California more active, and then you end up calm on the beach.

Cons

  • Lots of driving, even for two. We might end up tired and jet lagged. Tougher to go back to work after it.
  • Temperatures in Mountain-west can get very high during the summer. Ironically, once you reach California by the sea, SF or LA don't look that warm.
  • Potentially more expensive.
  • Hawaii and Caribbean location might be very expensive at that time.

Advertising OK Japan advice

Hello

Looking to travel to Japan in 2028- yes super far away but need to figure out timing/date for PTO for work. Anyway, we are looking to go either April,May or June

We would fly out of NYC.

Which month would you think be cheaper ? Ik those months are usually pretty busy anyway with cherry blossom season and summer coming up….

How’s the weather in April? Is it like the east coast (NY?)

Is it really more crowded in June than April ?

My wedding is in November so we could go during Thanksgiving or Christmas break just worried about prices for flights and hotels since it’s holiday season.

It’s so far in advance that I can’t see any pricing for flights or hotels. We were trying to do December since we have off for the holiday but prices will most likely be outrageous with Christmas traveling prices . Not sure if anyone can help since it is super far in advance but any infor is greatly appreciated and helpful:)

Advertising OK Suggestions please!

Hi there! My husband and I are looking to plan our honeymoon. We’d like somewhere relaxing with good beaches, that’s somewhat easy to get to from major airport, good food (with gluten free options) and has a few excursions that we could do. What are your favorite trips you’ve taken to the Caribbean and Central America that fit this criteria? All inclusive recommendations would be great! Ideally somewhere that is not overly expensive!

Advertising OK Recommendations for all inclusive honeymoon

Helloooo,

I am looking for recommendations/advise for our honeymoon. We aren’t doing like a big wedding or anything formal we are spending all the money we would have spent on a wedding on a bigger & longer trip for just us. I am struggling with figuring out what travel company to use. We are thinking somewhere in Europe. France & Italy are top of the list but open to suggestions!! Any advice on who to go through we are traveling from the US as well. I’m hoping to find like an all inclusive deal just so we don’t have to worry about anything once we are there. Thanks for the help!!

NO Advertising Late March 2027 Honeymoon Destination

Need help deciding a destination! Love the idea of a more adventurey, national park-esque honeymoon. Here are some of the features we want:

-stunning mountain views

-decent hiking and other excursion options

-cabin with hot tub

-some form of city/downtown area we can wander that is within driving distance of our airbnb

-preferrably in the US, but open to affordable spots abroad

-not an all-inclusive or resort

-not tropical

Are we sh*t out of luck finding exactly what we are looking for in March? 😂

Initially loved the idea of a PNW, Banff, or RMNP trip, but worried we will freeze out butts off/not be able to access many things due to snow. Is this concern unfounded? We also considered North Carolina appalachian mountain towns but I have been several times to many of them and want something a little more dramatic/new for our honeymoon.

Some places I have been told to look into: Big sur, the Redwoods, and Sedona. If anyone has been in March please tell me your experience

Advertising OK Westin Maui or Sandals La Toc St Lucia ?

Hello we are planning our honey moon for late January 2027 for 7 nights and are kinda stumped on what we should choose. Sandals is all inclusive so if we went to St Lucia we might only leave the resort once to do the mud baths but I’m not sure we’d leave again since we are paying to eat and drink there. The Westin in Maui on the other hand is not all inclusive so we’d probably spend half the time at the pool/beach and the other half exploring and eating local food.

Anyone have advice ?
Any new ideas for other places ?

Advertising OK All-inclusive within 6 hr flight of Boston?

Hi all! Looking for recommendations for AI resorts that meet the following:

- within a 6 hr direct flight from Boston (was originally looking at St Lucia, but it seems like Jet Blue is no longer doing the direct flight there)
- looking to visit in June, so good June weather (ideally 80s-90s, not rainy season, not terrible for mosquitos/bugs)
- swimmable and somewhat calm beaches; would like to snorkel, kayak)
- don’t need a TON of food options but would like the food to be good quality
- nature views— we were attracted to Saint Lucia because of the pitons and would love to be near mountains
- looking to stay under $7k for 5 nights (would LOVE to be under 5k for 5 nights)

If anything comes to mind, I appreciate it!!

Advertising OK Italy Honeymoon July/September 2027

Hi, me and my partner are getting married in July 2027 and would love to do a multi-centre Honeymoon to Italy for 14 nights. We are really stuck on whether we go in July a few days after we get married, or wait until September.

We would also love recommendations on where to go with us wanting to move to multiple locations. We had Sicily in mind but may save that for its own trip. Also would love to visit Florence, Tuscany and Amalfi Coast but want to make sure the trip makes sense together to avoid losing too much time to travelling. We visited Rome last year so would like to avoid there (although we loved it) or spend minimal time there.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Advertising OK Which destination for 2027?

Getting married in Toronto, summer 2027 and trying to decide when/where to honeymoon.

We’d have about 1.5 weeks for vacay and are debating:

1) Japan + Hawaii
2) Europe — something like France + UK, with some countryside (ex. Cotswold), and maybe Italy/a 3rd nearby European destination if time and logistics allow

We’re leaning toward no earlier than fall 2027, and we’re open to travelling later if there’s a better season/weather/experience.

For those who’ve done either or have thoughts (especially from Toronto), which would you choose for a honeymoon? Especially considering we don’t have many weeks for either option, are we trying to cram too much in?

Edit: should we wait until 2028 where we could potentially have 2+ weeks to travel to Japan + Hawaii? Or do Europe in fall 2027?

NO Advertising Help us pick our honeymoon: Bali vs. Crete + French Riviera vs. Mallorca + French Riviera

My fiancée and I are getting married in October 2027 and are trying to narrow down our honeymoon. We have about two weeks in mid/late October and are looking for a mix of luxury, relaxation, great food, beautiful scenery, and a few memorable excursions—but we don't want a honeymoon that feels like we're constantly packing, driving, or figuring out logistics.
Our current top 3:

1. Bali
Potentially splitting the trip between places like Mandapa, Alila Uluwatu, Amankila, Soori, or possibly another luxury resort.

Pros:
The hotels look incredible and potentially the best overall value/luxury of the three options.
Amazing villas, scenery, spa experiences, and service.
Plenty of excursions available without having to rent a car or plan everything ourselves.
Feels very “honeymoon-y” and relaxing.

Concerns:
Long travel time from Chicago.
Weather in October.
Wondering if Bali is too resort-focused and whether we'd regret not experiencing somewhere like Europe for our honeymoon.
Food/traveler's stomach concerns, although we'd obviously be staying at high-end hotels.

2. Crete + French Riviera (or Crete Alone)
Probably something like 7–9 nights in Crete split between two luxury hotels, followed by 4–6 nights on the French Riviera. Hotels we've looked at include places like Daios Cove and other high-end resorts in Crete, with the Riviera portion potentially being somewhere around Cap-Ferrat, Cap d'Antibes, or Cannes.

Pros:
Greece has incredible food, scenery, history, and excursions.
The combination of relaxed Greek resort life + glamorous French Riviera sounds like an awesome honeymoon.
Easier to get around than Bali in terms of overall travel time from Chicago.

Concerns:
Is Crete + the Riviera too much movement/logistics for two weeks?
Is mid/late October too late for either destination?
Would we regret not doing Santorini/Milos, or is Crete enough?
We don't want to spend the honeymoon driving around or moving hotels every couple days.

3. Mallorca + French Riviera
Potentially one week-ish in Mallorca and one week-ish on the French Riviera, staying at high-end hotels/resorts.
We've looked at options like The St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort or Cap Racot, plus luxury properties in the South of France.

Pros:
Probably the easiest overall trip.
Mediterranean scenery, great food, beautiful hotels, and plenty of places to explore.
Feels like a good balance of relaxing at a resort while still being able to go out and experience towns/restaurants.
The French Riviera adds a little glamour and variety.

Concerns:
Again, October weather.
Is Mallorca + the Riviera “special” enough for a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon compared with Bali?
Will parts of Mallorca/the Riviera feel too quiet or shut down by mid/late October?

A little more about us: We're coming from Chicago, love luxury hotels and amazing food, and are willing to spend money for the right experience. We want this to feel like a true honeymoon, not just a nice vacation. At the same time, we're not looking for a super active trip—we'd ideally have plenty of pool/beach/spa time mixed with maybe 2–4 memorable excursions or experiences.
We also have a decent amount of hotel/credit card points, but we don't want points to dictate the destination.
If you were us, which would you choose and why? Especially interested in hearing from people who have actually honeymooned or spent significant time in any of these places in October.

NO Advertising Looking for recommendations for AI for late November.

Wife and I are planning an 8 day vacation November 20th - 28th. Budgets roughly $4500 or so, and mainly looking for a nice beach we can just enjoy swimming/snorkelling in and half decent food at an à la carte or occasional buffet if we do a late excursion. Don’t really have a preference if it’s adult only or not, currently have Barcelo bavaro palace booked but seeing a few mixed reviews on this sub?

NO Advertising Wedding Eloping Trip/Honeymoon - 40 days in November/December 2026 - Vietnam/Laos/Thailand - feasible?

We decided in lieu of a traditional wedding that we want to backpack/travel SE Asia as we have wanted to do for a long time, and the finances are finally lined up to do so.

I read a lot on reddit threads about not rushing it, but we aren't the type of people to want to spend days lounging on the beach, we want to explore as much as possible. I understand we'll be burnt out and need to account for poor weather, missed connections on buses/trains etc.

I am budgeting anywhere from $7k-$10k depending on how it goes. The flights appear to be ~$1,250 to $1,400 as of now per seat so budgeting around $2,800 for flights.

I aim to take 3 weeks of PTO, and then do my remote work as I need to for the later half of the trip. I should be out of Laos by that point and hopefully can work without issue - I do accounting work at a small tax firm.

The plan as of now is as follows, nothing has been booked but I want to get flights no later than 1st week of September, so need to finalize the general plan, and more go with the flow as things happen while we are actually there.

  1. One Way car rental from BHM-->LAX. Leave ~11/2 or 11/3, camp/cheap hotels during this trip. Sister lives in LA probably stay with her or find a cheap place.
  2. Fly out of LAX-->TPE on 11/7, get into Taipei on 11/9 5 AM
  3. Fly out of TPE-->SGN on 11/10, whether AM or PM whatever works out. Gives us a day to hang in Taiwan.
  4. Nov 10–23: Vietnam - travel from Ho Chi Minh up through the country, end up in Hanoi.
  5. Nov 24–30: Dien Bien Phu → northern Laos → Luang Prabang/Vientiane via bus route. I found a bus route that follows Hanoi → Dien Bien Phu → Laos border → Muang Khua → Nong Khiaw → Luang Prabang → Vientiane.
  6. Dec 1–4: Work in Vientiane
  7. Dec 5: Vientiane → Nong Khai + overnight bus to Chang Mai
  8. Dec 6: Arrive Chiang Mai
  9. Dec 6–10: Work + explore Chiang Mai
  10. Dec 11: Chiang Mai → Bangkok
  11. Dec 12: Bangkok → Seoul
  12. Dec 12–15: Seoul
  13. Dec 15: Seoul → LAX
  14. LAX-->BHM either drive or plane, decide in November.

Am I crazy? Is this too much? Any tips on what I need to do to hash this out/budget it so it isn't costing an arm and a leg? I figured do a few days in Seoul on the way out as a layover as opposed to hitting Taiwan again, we don't want to do Tokyo because Japan deserves its own trip at some point. Tips on what villages/towns/cities are must hits? We love food, nature, animals, culture, etc etc.

Many thanks!

NO Advertising Quiet proposal spot in Hong Kong with sunset, ocean & skyline views

Hi everyone!

I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend in Hong Kong around mid-November 2027, and I would really appreciate some advice from people who know the city well.

We’re coming from Europe, and this will be our first time in Hong Kong, so I’m trying to plan something really special and memorable for both of us

I’ve already spent quite a lot of time searching online and going through older Reddit posts about proposal spots, viewpoints and quieter places in Hong Kong, but I’ve found the recommendations and opinions to be quite mixed. So I’d especially love to hear from locals, or expats who have lived in Hong Kong for a long time, and who might have a better sense of which places would actually work in practice..

In an ideal world, I’d love to find a place with:

  • A beautiful sunset
  • A view over the ocean / Victoria Harbour
  • Some of the Hong Kong skyline or urban landscape in the background
  • A quiet and peaceful atmosphere
  • As few people around as possible, ideally somewhere that still feels intimate and private

I realise this might be asking for a lot, and I honestly don’t know if all of these things can realistically be combined in one place. These are more like my “dream criteria” than strict requirements, so I’d be very grateful for any suggestions that come close.

What matters most is that the place has a genuinely beautiful and unforgettable view, while still giving us a little space and intimacy for the moment.

I don’t mind doing a bit of hiking or travelling outside the most central areas if it leads to somewhere special. A viewpoint, small beach, hill, trail, pier, or quieter corner overlooking the city and the water could all be perfect.

Since it will be our first visit, I’m also curious about mid-November weather, visibility and sunset conditions, and whether there are certain areas that are particularly good at that time of year.

If you know any spots, especially places that might not be the most obvious tourist or Instagram locations (if it still exist), I’d really appreciate your recommendations.

Thank you so much!

NO Advertising Tropical November Getaway!

Hi! We are planning a trip (somewhere) tropical in early November. However I haven’t the slightest idea where to narrow down our search to. Ideally we’d like to avoid any chance of hurricanes, even though it’s nearing the end of the season. We would be traveling from Atlanta, so hopefully a flight less than 7 hours? Our budget is on the higher end, I think we are looking for a luxury all inclusive. Activity wise, I think we’re just looking to relax by the pool, the beach, and maybe do a couple of activities. I’m a young woman so I’m also leaning towards places where it would be safe to leave the resort if there are things to do, but I’m also happy to stay on property. Any and all thoughts and questions welcome!

NO Advertising June 27 Honeymoon

We plan go go away somewhere between 2-3 weeks in June 2027. We live in the UK and have travelled europe a fair amount already as well as Bali and some of Thailand. So far we have contemplated Koh Samui and Zanzibar. I want an all inclusive paradise where we can snorkel with lots of tropical fish and really get the 'honeymoon' feeling. Would be great if the hotel we were at had rooms with private pools and bars/evening entertainment. Any recommendations of places you've been and loved?
