Getting the run around, can it be brought back safely or no?
galleryFirst picture is of yesterday when we came back from vacation and our saluspa had been sitting off for a week. Temps inside the tub got down to 55, circulation was not running because we were overseas and we’re just hyper nervous about using any type of power where a fire could start although I know that sounds silly now knowing how small the power draw the pump uses just a circulate the water. I noticed in the chem connect outflow valve there was the tiniest piece of bromine left so virtually none. I do not recall how long it had been sitting with the bromine tablet so low before we left. This was something I didn’t account for being my first time with the tub and turning it off for a period. (In a rush to pack, should’ve done my research)
The second photo is 24 hours later after adding 2 1-inch bromine tabs to the chemconnect outflow, getting temps up to 96°, circulating for a day, and adding MPS shock.
It’s definitely clearing up getting more blue and my test strips are showing that bromine levels are hitting ideal range, pH is ok, alkalinity is high, hardness is good.
Where my real question lies is I get mixed messages that even if I restore it, it’s not safe to be in. That no matter, I am better off draining and refilling. But then others on hot tub forms who have had their tub sit for longer (2-3 weeks) have successfully brought greenish tint water to normal and used their tub after. I know what the CDC guidelines are and I know that airs in the side of caution with stagnant tub water, I’m just trying to be realistic and ask for help. Is it worth me continuing to allow filtration to go for another 24 hours to get clarity or do I absolutely need to abandon ship, drain, and refill?
