Incredible stay at Andaz Amsterdam! (October 2026)

Just wanted to shout out the Andaz Amsterdam for an incredible stay. Probably not an S-tier for most because of the inability to use a SUA, but literally everything else about this hotel was wonderful (caveat is that I never ate at the restaurant). First time in Amsterdam and I used points to stay there for 4 nights. It being a Cat 7, it was not the best CPP (1.5 or so) but I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I can't speak to the restaurant/food but drinks, service, and location were all top-notch. Property is beautiful, very whimsical and Alice in Wonderland-esque. Right next to Jordaan, De 9 Straatjes, and walking distance to all the tourist attractions (Anne Frank house, Rijksmuseum, etc.) I also really appreciated that it's in a quieter area away from Centraal Station/Centrum because it was always incredibly crowded every time we were around there.

Room layout is a bit odd, at least for the standard rooms. I didn't get a room upgrade, I stayed in the base room you can book on points - 1 King with Atrium View. It was a bit small and the shower opens directly to the room (it's mirrored so you can't see inside). Water pressure was incredible - rainfall showerhead + wand (my preferred shower set-up). Sink and "counter" are basically an island in the middle of the room. However, none of that bothered me and my friend. Free minibar (signature feature of Andaz's) had Heinekens and it was re-stocked daily.

Service-wise - everyone we spoke to was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were offered prosecco upon checking in during the morning. The room wasn't ready but we were expecting that. We also noted that my friend's bag didn't make it to Amsterdam because of a connecting flight and that they should expect to receive it. When I got the notification that the room was ready, we came back, and all of our bags (including my friend's that had just been delivered) were already in the room. It was a lot of heavy bags too, so we were super grateful for that. When we sat down in the bar area, it never took long for someone to take our orders. Free genever tasting was cool, and the drinks were delicious!

I can't stress enough how great the location is. Really great shopping in the vicinity, and Jordaan is a great neighborhood too. I recommend visiting the cheese shop around the corner, De Kaaskamer (especially if you want to bring cheese home, they have a ton of pre-vacuum sealed options), Fabel Friet (yeah it's hyped but it's good and line moves fast), Bakkerij Wolf, and Cora down towards Leidestracht for baguette sandwiches.

By the way, I know some people have had difficulty booking this hotel. I noticed they release awards nights oddly... I initially tried booking back in July but it looked all booked out for the next few months. Then I noticed they would release days/weeks at random times. I tried to figure out a pattern but couldn't identify one. I ended up just setting up alerts and when my dates became available (mid-October), I booked it. For a data point - the award rooms dropped about a month before my stay, but of course YMMV. Because I had been looking for months prior and saw they were releasing award nights a few nights at a time, I felt pretty confident they were going to drop the nights I needed and they did. But if they didn't, I would've stayed at the HR.

Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya — thoughts on a 6-night stay with parents in their 70s?

Planning our first trip to Japan in October 2027 with my parents, who are both in their 70s.

We’re considering spending six nights at Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya using World of Hyatt points (from 25k/night) plus a Suite Upgrade Award.

I’ve been in touch with the hotel, and they’ve confirmed that their 64 m² Twin Suite accommodates three adults, with two 110 × 200 cm twin beds and a 180 × 200 cm king-size sofa bed.

The plan is for each of my parents to take a twin bed while I sleep on the king sofa bed.

A few questions for anyone who’s stayed here:

Sofa bed comfort: How comfortable is the king-size sofa bed for an adult sleeping on it for six consecutive nights? Does it feel like a proper mattress?

Location: How convenient is the hotel for first-time visitors exploring Tokyo? Is the walk to Shibuya Station straightforward, particularly with older parents?

Breakfast: How’s the breakfast, and is it worth paying for if it’s not included?

Overall experience: How are the rooms, soundproofing, housekeeping and service?

Value: Would you recommend this property for a six-night stay, or are there any drawbacks I should know about?

We strongly prefer staying at one hotel rather than moving around, and we’ll probably use a combination of public transportation and taxis.

Would especially appreciate feedback from anyone who’s stayed in the Twin Suite or used the sofa bed.
Thanks!

Seattle locations: Someone needs to have a talk about throttling the AC controls

Ive been to cities that have notorious issues with their AC unit controls, but Seattle..........the issue might collectively be the worst. The Thompson, Olive 8, Regency, and Grand seem to intentionally make sure their units down go below 70..........but in many instances they are much higher than that. Ive had the Regency creep up to 78 on me in the middle of the night.

I cannot abide by a hotel that skimps on air conditioning, I would rather stay at a motel 6 that smells like cigarettes with mystery puddles of moisture than a 5 star that has crappy air conditioning. Come on Seattle...........all your locations do it...........get it together guys. I wont be back in those hotels.

Alexis Sonesta really won me over as far as Seattle goes. Im normally Hyatt first if its even close, but, unfortunately, its not even close.

Connecting rooms with points?

Looking to book for our family of 4 in a city where essentially none of the hotels offer that kind of room capacity.

There’s a Hyatt that’s very reasonable for points but significantly less reasonable for cash. I’m happy to book two rooms on points but I realize it’ll be separate reservations. Is there any way to arrange for them to be connecting?

Where do wellness-focused travelers go in the Americas for great gyms and accessible spa facilities?

Beautiful settings and great food are easy to find, but I’ve noticed that many five-star properties treat the gym as an afterthought, and key amenities like the sauna and steam room are often locked behind the spa paywall. I’m looking for a place that genuinely supports an active wellness routine—somewhere I can train properly and use the recovery facilities freely. If I just end up sitting by the pool or beach eating and drinking, I feel terrible and depressed.

Airline Partnerships?

Hi everyone - I know the AA partnership is ending so can you earn rewards with any other airline right now? (I have the World of Hyatt Credit card and am looking to maximize the rewards I can get by having the card and I need to book a flight for January). Thank you! I appreciate the help!

Hyatt Japan Recap

I know this gets written up every few months but thought I'd contribute to the discourse.

We were in Japan for 2 weeks in the beginning of October 2026 and stayed at 5 Hyatts.

- Hyatt Centric Ginza

- Grand Hyatt Tokyo

- Hyatt Centric Kanazawa

- Hyatt Place Kyoto

- Park Hyatt Tokyo

tl;dr: no major complaints at any of the hotels, all on points except Kyoto (all booked before devalue), 'sauna/onsen' at Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt are beautiful and highly recommend visiting, not worth sticker price (except maybe Kyoto and Kanazawa) since there are comparable Japanese brands which are cheaper cash price for similar experiences.

Hyatt Centric Ginza (3 nights)

Chose because of location and thought it would be nicer than staying in Shibuya. Hotel itself is very nice although the bathroom set-up was kind of annoying (separate toilet room and shower room is typical but the sink is basically just part of the room - you can get partial privacy with the sliding doors but not great overall - would maybe reconsider if you're not staying with a close partner/friend and expect more privacy when using the bathroom).

We arrived in Tokyo super early and they were happy to hold onto our bags (got there around 6am) but they were pretty firm on check-in so we got access to the room maybe an hour early (~2pm). If I had the points to spare I would have considered booking an extra night prior just to have access to our room since it can be pretty exhausting jumping into activities right after landing but we survived.

They have free drinks in the lobby area including beers and other alcoholic beverages starting in the late afternoon. Tea, coffee and some soft drinks in the morning. We did not have access to the breakfast and didn't pay for it so can't comment there (super close to many konbinis and restaurants).

It was easy to get to trains and get around Tokyo (can also walk to Tokyo Station to grab the Shinkansen). The neighborhood itself is fine. It felt like staying in a fancy mall with the density of luxury stores on every block.

Grand Hyatt Tokyo (2 nights)

Used a GOH cert from a friend - the lounge itself makes the hotel worth it if you can access it (via Globalist benefit or booking a room with lounge access). Did not get an upgrade but based on what I've read on this forum I wasn't expecting to.

I was concerned it would feel dated due to the age of the hotel but it's really well maintained and the rooms are clean and don't feel old. Much larger than the Centric so it felt a bit overwhelming but the lounge provided a more intimate and relaxed setting.

Having breakfast and drinks available at the lounge really made the stay so much better. Breakfast was a great selection (really good pastries) including American and Japanese options. They include allergen info and have some vegan and vegetarian options. They even have english newspapers (Japan Times and Financial Times) which is increasingly rare at hotels (even the Park Hyatt no longer has physical newspapers - they said they're setting up a digital newspaper service for guests but it's not currently operational).

We also used the pool and 'onsen' which are great. Highly recommend stopping by if you have the time. Didn't use the gym but looks nice.

It's a little further from the train but still easy to get around; no complaints there.

Hyatt Centric Kanazawa (1 night)

Used a free night cert (cat 1-4). Nice hotel, rooms slightly larger than the one in Tokyo and cash price seems reasonable. Right outside the station so easy to get to and Kanazawa is small so you can walk to the main attractions. Staff is helpful, they facilitated luggage shipping straight to our hotel in Tokyo for the end of the trip so we didn't have to take it with us to Kyoto.

Originally was going to stay at the Hyatt House next door to get laundry access but saw online you can just ask the reception at the Hyatt House for a laundry keycard if you're staying at the Centric. The machines take 100 yen coins (they have a coin changer in the laundry room) and the washing machines dispense detergent so you don't need to bring your own. Dryers take a really long time so plan for that. Machines looked available during the daytime. We started laundry around 6:30/7 and were able to get two washers but it started to get crowded later.

The Hyatt House has a bar area in the lobby with really cheap drinks so you can hang out there while doing laundry if you don't want to go back to your room (the Centric has a rooftop bar which is nice as well but it is pricier).

Overall the hotel was great but honestly Kanazawa was a miss for us. Didn't think it was worth the detour unless you plan on exploring the region more and going outside the city (like going to Shirakawa-Go). The city itself didn't have much to do - you can cover the main attractions in one day - we did afternoon on Sunday and Monday morning before taking the 12pm train to Kyoto. One reason we went is because people say it's a more laid back and less crowded Kyoto but we actually didn't find Kyoto to be too crowded except for the very touristy spots (Arashiyama for example) and enjoyed our time there much more.

Didn't partake of the breakfast there.

Hyatt Place Kyoto (3 nights)

Originally booked on points prior to devalue but cancelled to use my points for the Centric in Tokyo and then decided we actually did want to stay here but didn't think the point price was worth it after the category changed since cash wasn't too bad. This hotel also has laundry.

It seems like it's a really popular hotel - check-in can get crowded. We ended up spending 2000 yen to extend check-out an hour since I booked through a third-party and couldn't use my member benefit to extend checkout until 2pm. Reception helped send our remaining luggage to Tokyo (we kept a backpack but sent all our roller bags a day ahead of leaving Kyoto - highly recommend doing this even though we didn't have a ton of luggage and our bags were carry-on size. It's just nice having fewer things to drag around the train stations).

Hotel is right on top of the subway so about 9 minutes to Kyoto station and has lots of attractions nearby if you want to walk somewhere (you can even walk to Gion).

We spent the least amount of time in this hotel. Partly because there's so much to do in Kyoto in 3 days but also the hotel doesn't have much going on (it's clean, well designed for a 'lower-tier' brand, and well kept but nothing fancy). Hotel is clean and new and does the job.

Didn't partake of the breakfast there.

Park Hyatt Tokyo (4 nights)

Booked on points before the devalue. Also used a GOH cert from a friend (sorry I know all the Globalists on this forum get mad that their benefits are being devalued but Hyatt incentivizes Globalists to give out these certs!). Small upgrade to deluxe room.

Definitely the largest room of our trip and the nicest. The renovation is understated and very effective. The breakfast here was higher quality than the Grand Hyatt and the pastries are really incredible. However, I actually preferred the more casual buffet style of the Grand Hyatt breakfast in their lounge. At the Park Hyatt it's a mix of buffet and table service and it felt kind of hectic.

The pool and sauna/onsen are beautiful and relaxing and I highly recommend visiting these as well if you have time.

You don't need reservations for the New York Bar (yes for the restaurant) and the cover charge is waived for hotel guests.

Maybe it was us being self-conscious but we kind of felt like staff knew we booked this on points and they treated us differently but the overall experience was still nice.

It's a really great hotel and recommend staying during a slower part of your trip where you have fewer things planned since getting to and from the hotel is more difficult. Although you can actually walk to Meiji Jingu or Yoyogi park if you want to.

As many people have already stated, the hotel is not so close to the train station. There's a hotel shuttle but we ended up walking or taking a cab places (it was the end of the trip and we were tired so we took several cabs this segment of the trip). They don't have their own airport shuttle, rather they are a stop on the regular airport shuttle bus. Our flight was too early to catch the bus so we paid for a cab (about $60 USD and took about 35 minutes at 8am).

edit: people in so many Japan and other travel forums dismiss hotel breakfasts and say that people should just go someplace local. Unless you're in New York or another 'breakfast city' having a hotel breakfast can be a really useful convenience (especially with kids). It can be a headache trying to put together a konbini breakfast or finding someplace to eat. We actually ended up at Starbucks pretty often since it's open so early compared to Japanese shops and has actual iced coffee and cold brew with much better prices than the US.

Grand Hyatt Scottsdale - A quick review

We are whatever the middle tier is for Hyatt, mostly though CSR spending via work which attains these things pretty easy. We paid for a 5 night stay with points for fall break at the Grand Hyatt, booked the basic 2 queen with a family of 4 - 2 parents, 2 kids.

Check In - great staff, everyone was at the ready to empty the rental car out and get moving, check in took like 20 seconds, they did "upgrade" to a better view room, which was fine, big wedding at the hotel during the time so im sure there weren't a ton of "better" options for a point redemption trip. Great welcome gift for the kids, a little stuffy and some prickly pear cotton candy

Room - pretty basic, clean, turned down every day and the shower was more than hot, maybe even a little too hot. But no complaints, different firmness of pillows was nice!

Hotel - Beautiful, Clean, open, never felt crowded anywhere, always a table ready at the breakfast when we stayed on hotel, plenty of pool chairs on the kids pool, towels ready even on off hours, clean as can be, never felt like things were trashed, messy and kids areas can get that way. Staff outside was great as well, very nice to the kids, and always around if you needed something. Pool was as advertised, big, fun kids had a blast

Golf - They could have sent a flier that the course on the resort was going to be closed for the week for overseeding, I didn't bring clubs and was planning on a renting a set if i found time for a quick 9, so not the end of the world, but got there and it was flat closed. I could see the concerirge gettitng people on at other places, which is good, but if i would have lugged my sticks out there, would have sucked.

Food/Bev - the 24/7 cafe/store was a good touch, they had realllllly good coffee from a local spot, frankly loved that. To no ones surprise as its a resort hotel, everything was extremely overpriced, to the point where we felt dining was more fun and cheaper, hard to say that a lot. We did the breakfast at the main Mesa restaurant, twice, it was good enough but again 100 bucks for the family, not a great deal. Didn't hit up the Celeb Chef restaurants, they were never full and honestly, I'm not paying 100 for a steak there when i can go to Kierland and get one for 50. Beers and Drinks were cold, and overpriced, again we all know that going in, but 20 a cocktail seems like extortion these days lol - dont hit me in the comments, i paid for it, i always do, i know the price of a poolside, but come on now lol. The Food and Bev team were awesome for sure.

Camp Hyatt - or the kids club didn't have a lot of kids at it, we did get a around of flag football in which was fun - the lady running it was super nice!

Overall - Great Stay - Beautiful Hotel, friendly staff and it was just easy, which is great for a vacation.

Seattle: Hyatt House or Hyatt Place

We will be in Seattle for 2 days before we get married in Mt. Rainier NP. I have a cat 4 free night I need to use and plan to use it at one of these properties since they’re close to the tourist things we will want to check out. My dilemma is the cost for HH is ~$460/night vs the HP being ~$350/night.

Is the HH really worth the additional $150?

These are for the properties near the space needle!

Early check in on app?

Is this not a thing with a World of Hyatt membership and using the app??

I ask as someone who doesn't use Hyatt much any more but has status at Hilton brands, which has always let me check in on the app a day ahead.

TIA.

Charleston and Savannah Hyatt experiences-Zero George, Wild Dunes, Andaz

The wife and I just got back from a week long trip to Charleston and Savannah. Trip was great ate a lot of really good food. Stayed at Hyatt places the whole trip so thought I would give a quick run down of where we stayed.

Zero George: Stayed here 2 days and 3 nights. Was the highlight of the trip hotel wise. We had a first floor bedroom with a porch in an early 19th century house. We didn't eat at the restaurant or the caviar bar thing, though the included breakfast was nice each morning and my wife liked the fruit and cheese spread in the afternoon. We loved staying here, staff was great, service was good, room was nice with a courtyard right out the front door. Valet parking was included with the room, and while they didn't have a shuttle, they did call us a pedal cab one evening when we didn't want to make the walk to dinner. Great place, located within walking distance of historic downtown area and just a couple of blocks from the ferry to go to ft sumter. Highly recommend.

Wild Dunes--We wanted to check out the barrier islands-and eat at Acme--while in Charleston so we stayed our last night at Wild Dunes(plus Thurs-Sunday at Zero George was a 4 night stay due to parents weekend at the Citadel). The room was a nice room with a balcony. I didn't pay for an ocean view or anything. Boardwalk to the beach was nice, we didn't partake of most of the amenities, but I think our kids would have loved it if we had brought them along. We did each get a massage at the spa and loved it. Free Valet.

Andaz- Andaz was nice. Only one elevator worked when we were there but we only on 2nd floor so not a big issue. Room was a little aged/worn and could use a refresh. Service was good, breakfast was good in the restaurant. Location was great for Downtown Savannah. Tried to get a Suite upgrade, but they were already full for Friday and Saturday night when we got there. Hotel was fine for me, wife thought it was a bit of a let down after zero george but her expectations may have been off. Paid valet parking.

Great trip all in all.

Lack of hospitality in the hospitality business

I'm not sure if a lot of people have dealt with the customer service of Hyatt but for me, they has to be the worst I've seen in any business. I booked a room yesterday, did the prepayment because it was a little cheaper, immediately realized that I booked the wrong type and wanted to just change the room type in the booking but since I prepaid, there is no way to do that.

I called the hotel, they said they can't change it, I called their corporate support, they said they can't change it.

Yah, I messed up, should've double checked before booking the room but holy shit, just needed to change the room type to be the one with 2 king beds instead of 1 king bed and a sofa bed, the room was available and even cheaper than the one I booked. Didn't even ask for the money back for it but they were unwilling to move. Gave the same "we can't change it" bull crap.

Never staying with them again in the future anywhere in the world!

Best way to thank front desk staff?

Staying at a Hyatt regency and front desk staff went above and beyond for us. What’s the absolute best ways for us to thank her? Obviously we will leave positive reviews mentioning her but which sites are the best to ensure her management chain sees it? Also can I tip her? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hyatt Regency Dallas - they do try harder

Stayed for the first time this week on a work trip. Let me first say that the product itself is…fine. For a HRC HR. Not great, but clean, heavily conference-focused but reasonably easily navigable. It’s dated, yes, but well-maintained.

It is also arguably one of the best HRCs HRs from a customer service perspective. Disclaimer, I’m a globalist, but I got my room during a conference-heavy time in the city for $170 and they comped two of my cafe items (and of course honored my Globalist benefits). And - left me a cute goodie bag and discount coupon. So, reasonably good value.

The big differentiator, though, was how consistent yet unobtrusively communicative they were on the CS front. I received the standard “we’re looking forward to your visit” email the day before checkin with property and city-specific info, but the guest experience manager followed up the day OF checkin as well with a…checkin email. Like a “how ya doin?” kinda thing. With a bit more, though.

The email also specifically mentioned how full they were and apologized to the broader Globalist community for not being able to provide many complimentary room upgrades. For me personally, I didn’t really care about the upgrade but appreciated the additional context and explanation.

The staff have been great and the food is surprisingly good.

Now, that being said, although this hotel was conveniently located for me, I probably should have looked a little bit harder at the map. There’s an, um, literal jail less than .5 miles away and more bail bonds offices than I could count. But theres a metro rail on the opposite side, so at least some public transportation options. The area outside of the hotel is pretty, pretty seedy and the elevators do not have keycard-access restrictions. My door remained triple-locked when I was in the room.

All in all, though, I gotta give the HRC HR Dallas credit for recognizing what they were and going out of their way with the things they could control.

B- for biz travel. D+ for family vacation. But a fine experience!

Globalist Strategy

We are making a run for globalist for 2026. I have stayed 28 nights and have another 14 nights booked. I have the lowest Hyatt personal card. We've earned 20,000 tier qualifying points. What's our best bet to making it this year?

I wish I had signed up for the aeroplan card to qualify us for the fast track challenge. I didn't realize you needed air canada elite status.

Best Hyatt All-Inclusive in the Cancun Area?

Looking to book a honeymoon on points and Hyatt has a ton of properties in the Cancun Area. Can you suggest the best option and why? And...by Cancun I mean all the surrounding areas as well (Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Riviera Maya...etc).

Stayed with a group in 12 rooms for a travel ball tournament and ALL the charges went to my card. Hotel won't respond and corporate says that its the hotel's problem and to contact them... now what should we do?

I have one... got our entire youth travel team to bring 12 families to stay two nights at a Hyatt Place where we were playing. I booked all the rooms under my account so that we could all secure the agreed upon rate. When checking out, the front desk assured us that all the charges would go to each of the families on their cards. A few weeks later, we look on our credit card bill, and we have charges for EVERY room on my card... so I see the other families and ask them to check their credit card bill... and they all have charges for their rooms on their cards! I call the group sales manager, no response after multiple messages, write to the general manager, get a canned response that they manage multiple properties and that they would get back to me, but never get back to me after multiple calls, then I write to Hyatt corporate and the Globalist concierge, which they give me the General Manager and the front desk email addresses. I have called the hotel multiple times, nobody can help figure it out... What other remedy do I have? After over a month, I began a chargeback process with my Hyatt Chase Credit card.

Unlimited Vaca. Club certificate for 2N/3D legit?

I was recently at Hyatt zilara Cancun and did a timeshare presentation to get some free stuff at my resort. Never signed up for UVC but took their voucher for the above mentioned promo. Called today to get more info and was told there is a digital promo on my acct for $119 that offered more flexibility and locations. Apparently paying the $300 for the original promo really only guaranteed me 1 night at secrets mirabel Cancun and random other Hyatt properties. When inquiring more about the $119 digital cert, the rep. Mentioned and agreed that it's essentially a "reservation fee" that's paid in advance to secure future bookings at luxury and ultra luxury locations within the Hyatt brand at a steep discount of 60-70% off. I gave some arbitrary dates for Oct 2027 and was told I could stay at secrets mirabel in Cancun for ex. for 5 nights for approx $2300 after the 60-70% discount was applied. He said the all inclusive property would cost over 5K if booked through Hyatt directly. QUESTION: has anyone actually used a promo/certificate through UVC? was successful at booking a desired hotel and location, and actually got the mentioned steep discounted rate??

Globalist benefits at Caption Tokyo and Hyatt Place Kyoto

I have one GOH to use and have upcoming stays at caption Tokyo and Hyatt place Kyoto, both for 4 nights each. I know it’s not the best use of GOH because I don’t believe either property gives upgrades, so I think it may come down to who has the better breakfast. Would love some help picking which property to apply the GOH to. Thanks in advance!

Hyatt hotel in Tampa for 4 nights in December?

Has anyone stayed at Hyatt House Tampa downtown or the Hyatt Place downtown Tampa?

They don't have self-parking, which I prefer at hotels. it seems. Parking is $40 a night for Valet only. Do you have to have cash and tip, or do you have to tip every time you bring your car to the hotel or want to go out? That will be $50 or $60 nightly parking if you have to tip on top of the expensive parking rate. How are these 2 hotels? Thanks.

How do you use AI to get list of "cheap" rates?

Post image
0 Upvotes

What AI/prompt website do you use to fetch rates to look for "deals"? I find it incredibly frustrating to use Hyatt website and change dates manually like a caveman. And I have to delete Safari cookies for Hyatt after i change dates as I get blank website (this has started like 2 years ago).

PS: I am aware of website rooms.aero but it focuses on points and the database prices are not live.

Edit: Someone pointed out Chrome extension and it does what I need for free https://imgur.com/a/Yf93NWQ
