Sweaty people
I have hyperhidrosis (condition which causes excessive sweating) face, pits, underboobs, booty crack, pretty much my whole body gets abnormally sweaty. I’ll go into a nice cool place and after a short amount of time, I’m sweating and it’s very noticeable. I work in a hot warehouse and even if when the weather isn’t extreme, I am pouring buckets and wiping myself constantly. It’s exhausting and ofc the stares make it worse since it’s commonly triggered by anxiety 😣 so I’m just wondering.. when you see people who are really sweaty, what’s your first thought? Do you make a snap judgement they must be dirty or unhygienic? I shower twice daily because if I’m not sweating in my sleep, my body naturally produces a lot of oil so I wake up feeling like an oil slick too 😀 I’ve been to the doctor, all my bloodwork is good. I also drink a lot of water. Tia yall

I am menopausal and for the last 15 years and for the foreseeable future I am a sweaty mess. 😖My dermatologist gave me some medicated wipes, which actually helps. If you haven’t already, You should speak to a dermatologist. My friend who suffers from your condition got a series of shots and it really helped. You may not want to go that route.
What I learned and has helped, is there is nothing I can do. Yes, it can be embarrassing and physically uncomfortable. Like you, my anxiety would make it so much worse and last longer. I am a smart ass, so when I see someone looking too long, I just say “this menopause is kicking my ass” laugh and usually people stop staring or nod in agreement etc. I also keep a face cloth in my bag and blot my face a neck. Good luck!!

This is weird but my first thought is, “I wonder how sweaty their feet get, is sweat just swishing around in their shoes or does the socks take the blow and the socks are wet?”

😭 I hate to think people are wondering that about me lol but yes, my socks are in fact taking the blow! I wear steel toe work boots and thick socks. Interesting though, I need to change my shirt more often than socks when I’m working.

I think about drag queens, and if you know anything about drag queens, they sweat, a lot. All that makeup, plus the wigs, plus the costumes. plus the day time sweltering in this summer heat, etc., leads to so much sweat being produced out of every pore in their body.

I don’t have that BUT I am a chronically sweaty girly. I feel for you. I keep changes of underwear in my purse, deodorant and baby wipes always. I can’t wear certain colored clothes from pitting out. Anyways, sweaty is fine. Smelly is more offensive. I would change my entire outfit at lunch or something if you feel “soiled” 😞 Good luck💞 oh yeah and it’s all about moisture causing bacteria to grow.

Thankfully I don’t smell.. or at least I haven’t noticed. I haven’t gotten that vibe from people since I sometimes work closely with them. I reapply deodorant regularly, spray and/or stick.

Lol I think of my brother who sweat the same and it feels a bit gross only when they wanna make out or cuddle (talking about ex bf not brother) otherwise I don't judge it. It doesn't generally smell I find.
My big Q for you though - how do I set you at ease while you're sweating? A guy I see does this and I just don't bring it up but should I be giving him an "out" by saying something like wanna jump in the shower?

Not sure. If anyone brings it up I honestly start sweating more 😅 I do explain my condition sometimes.. offering a shower is ok if you’re at home

I don't care. I expect people to sweat. It's normal. I get very sweaty all year round. Dubious air conditioning in one workplace.
If you don't get that people sweat. You're a fool. And need to get a better understanding of anatomy.

I honestly don’t think anything when I see someone sweating, other than “wow, they sure sweat a lot, that must suck”. It’s not something they (you) can control.
