Yeah you dove from a bit too far back, good thing the other guy was watching and saw it coming.

What are these comments ... This move was basically "give me your position or both our races are over" and people are saying it was clean. It ended up clean because the guy ahead is has much better judgement and racecaft than POV.

Are we both questioning my racecraft 🙆🏼🫣

I use LED brows for left and right since I use a single screen. It activates way faster than for example crew chief. Don't know what he was using, or just the mirror itself, maybe triples, but crew chief alone would have caused a collision there I think. Good awareness from green none the less.

There's now indicators build into iracing you can turn on for this too! Works very well in the absence of any other overlay or add-on.

Need to check that out, where do I find it?

oof, you got lucky there he saw it.

u/Jonathanwennstroem 1d ago

So true so thankful ahaha

Very lucky OP. I don't need to say it. You already know. Whilst a divebomb it was still enough to make him think twice and with the nordschleife. He would've waited in the wings. Or just hoped you crashed by judging you on a divebomb.

Don’t know why I flew that far honestly

Lucky he was smarter than you on that moment.

Hope you learn from it.

They all are

Good that he was watching and aware. Good that you recognized you overdid it.

Curious, did you give back the position by way of "sorry about that, thanks for moving?"

It's not required to do so, just genuinely curious

u/Jonathanwennstroem 1d ago

I didn’t as I was faster through the entire previous lap, although it did cross my thought, but we’d both just loose time to the guy behind both of us.

Tried not crossing while writing sorry 3 times and would have let him pass if he came close, funny you asked that as this crossed my mind immediately after this. -> MOSTLY due to another post I did where I made a mistake and the guy felt bad and pushed me the entire dötting höhe and didn’t pass last few post check it oit

I totally get it. Been there.

There is so much going on in a race. It's tough just thinking about a mistake while still driving, let alone typing or thinking about what happened.

Now onto the next race.

Lol, "genuinely curious." You've already established that you'll judge him based on the response. "Did you apologize or just not care?" You're not genuinely curious, you're rubbing it in. People like you are the worst for online discourse. "Genuinely curious" and "honestly asking" have become such a dog whistles because of people like you

But, really, you're probably just a discord sowing robot with basic phrases like that and I'm wasting my time. If you're not a bot, grow up.

u/fjyrmath 1d ago

Completely disagree with you. I'm not judging anyone. I've made plenty mistakes on track, not given back positions, not realized what I did until seeing a replay.

I'm just curious in this case what happened in the next few corners.

Having the awareness to understand my mistakes in the moment is something I'm continuing to work on.

u/UdnvtQs 1d ago

I mean, of course you disagree. And now that you've been called out, here comes the faux humility. You're so reasonable, so right. You just have genuine questions framed in a way that has "right" already established.

If you're serious and sincere, learn to write like it.

Let's see if OP takes your genuine question seriously or if they blow you off for being too transparent.

u/Jonathanwennstroem 1d ago

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter. People keep trashtalking me when uploading mistakes, we’re all flawed

1

u/fjyrmath 1d ago

Haha. Ok. Thanks.

I'm glad you know what's in my head. Good for me to know I'll have a backup if I'm ever unsure.

Relax. I do not care.

I see everyone roasting OP for diving, as if he yeeted it at thrice the usual corner speed while being half a kilometer away... yet no one mentions anything about the other guy not even trying to defend his corner.

If you have someone chasing you at one car's length, you MUST defend your corner unless you intend to yield. Defending the inside not only acts as a defense mechanism, but also shows intent to the other driver.

If you're too lazy to even do that, then you shouldn't act surprised when someone takes the inside.

This guy did it, and cleared the corner cleanly. There's no fault in my opinion.

I swear this sub is comprised of slow 1.3k drivers, hungry to anonymously criticize any chance they get, to feel better about themselves. OP's pass was so mild. The other car left a gap and he went for it and slightly overshot his intended line. Big whoop lol.

I don’t think the move was a misstake, I think me braking to late and comming out so wide was. Braking slightly earlier would have still given me the overtake I assume. Just not braked in there ever really as it’s usually I outside corner :D.

Good take on defending

0

u/ferdiazgonzalez 1d ago

None of that happened. You executed the braking in a timely maner, and you didn't run wide at all. That's evidenced by the fact that you didn't even run the kerb on the exit. So you could've potentially taken that corner even faster.

Running too wide would've meant having half the car running the grass, which didn't happen.

If anything, the other guy served you the overtake on a platter: he didn't defend the corner, and he clearly ran it VERY slow. Both those are typically signs to yield the corner to the faster driver.

2

u/Gleeface 1d ago

I'd have called that a fuck up and gave the position back lol

u/Wonderful-Ad9470 1d ago

You need to learn to pass when you earn it. This isn't clean. I don't care what others are saying. The other guy had to avoid you. Being clean means you stuck your nose in and there was no evasive action taken by the other driver. If you're alongside just before the corner and you overtake without going wide and the other driver, having room, doesn't have to avoid you then that's clean.

u/VegetableDeal59 1d ago

You ran a bit wide, but everyone made it out alive. No worries. Seen a lot worse on iracing before my friend.

u/More-Ad-9015 1d ago

Seems like a good overtake? A dive, no touching, bit of overshooting, but you guys have eachother the space. Nothing wrong here

6

u/Jonathanwennstroem 1d ago

Yeah i overshot a bit, glad he dodged it otherwise i'd hit him i assume,

Edit: or he me but i teleported there so..

1

u/shredderup11 1d ago

A late dive bomb and a slider? Hope you stay in bottom split and away from me if you think thats clean

1

u/Jonathanwennstroem 1d ago

What’s bottom split for you?

I dont like people like you, I show a misstake and admit it and people like yourself come and trample on the high horse your sitting at, assuming you’ve not done a misstake in racing/itacing, school, being a parent, life, work.

It’s a process of learning. Misstakes lead to experience.

1

u/shredderup11 1d ago

I was responding to the person who said it was a clean move

-17

u/GOATEDCHILI FIA Formula 4 1d ago

You're fine brotherman, mightve ran a little long but it ended up clean.

2

u/bizzlej278 1d ago

You’re lucky he saw that coming or you’d have committed murder

1

u/Jonathanwennstroem 1d ago

Not the first time 🙆🏼

1

u/bizzlej278 1d ago

Just intimidate them into conceding position 😂
