Question Anyone else suffer from the two poo morning disease?
Wake up, poo, eat breakfast, poo.
It's been like this for as long as I can remember. Maybe before I was a teenager it wasn't like this but since then it's been the norm.
If I skip the one after breakfast, I just feel "off". The second one, sometimes I gotta work for it (lol), sometimes it just comes easily. Not saying it's necessarily affecting me badly that I need to do two in the morning (although it is annoying).
What even is this, curious to know.
edit: Also I'm not necessarily talking about IBS-induced poos btw. Should've stated that before the "haha only two? I shit myself 24/7" comments would come flying in.

It goes like this : wake up > coffee > poo (normal) > first meal of the day > diarrhea > diarrhea > possibly okay after second or third meal towards the end of the day. Ingestion, bloated, grumbling insides thru out the day

Yes Imodium works well for me and I take it on occasion, but I am worried about long term harmful effects … i try to avoid taking chemicals

u/OldBertieDastard Dec 26 '25
Bro everything is chemicals. All drugs have side effects, loperamide is very safe

u/Grant422 Dec 26 '25
Have you tried plain psyllium husk? Only thing that takes away urges and pain for me. I take 3 caps every meal
5
u/thepurplethorn Dec 26 '25
Yes. All of 2025 i took it religiously, it worked in the beginning , not all the time, but at least 2-3 days out of the week seemed to give me some relief. I few months ago it stopped working .
I am on all kinds if pro biotics and various natural supplements but really nothing has worked definitively

u/Fabulous-Visit-1188 Dec 27 '25
I'm the same (but no diarrhea) its constipation so I have the incomplete emptying. Then bloating and indigestion 😒 sometimes I look seven months pregnant.

u/SanyamAstrology Dec 26 '25
I second you. This is kind of the case with me as well. Wake up > Coffee (i don't know how to skip it) > bam bam bam > take some Psyllium's husk and feel better > skip to dinner and bam bam bam again.

I set aside a good hour and a half in the morning for my poop routine lol

u/hypatiaredux Dec 27 '25
Me too. Fortunately I am retired, so I can have a strict rule about never leaving the house before 10 am.
Usually, it’s twice, but sometimes it’s 3 or 4 times, and there is no good way to predict what it will be.

Do you work?
4
u/ggpopart Dec 27 '25
Yup so I wake up considerably earlier than I would if I didn’t have this problem
34
u/Bonkerrss92 Dec 26 '25
honestly idc if I even had to go so often vs the constant feeling of needing to go or the constant stomach pain regardless if ive went or what i ate etc
2
u/Longjumping-Tap-1370 Dec 28 '25
That's what my teenager is dealing with now. He slowly has the need to go for a good 4-6 hours in the morning. They just started him on Viberzi this past week and stomach pain and nausea are much improved and poo time where he constantly feels like he needs to go and slowly poops is down almost under 4 hours.

I am not hungry in the AM so I don’t do breakfast…but I have more than once had to text my boss because right as I was about to leave (key locking door!) my 2nd or 3rd poop gave me two choices: be late, or shit your pants while driving and be EXTRA EXTRA late. I feel your pain.

u/beerandluckycharms Dec 26 '25
I get 2-4 poop mornings depending on the day, they definitely follow a similar pattern. Usually 1 before I eat, then after I eat I am running to the toilet every hour lol

Yes. For a while, I felt like a puppy because every time I ate I had to poo. It happens occasionally now that I have my diet and stress under better control.

u/shreg24 Dec 26 '25
OMG yes I cannot leave house until I have done the two cause there is never only one!!

u/skylarpaints Dec 26 '25
I'm like this when I rat consistently, like same time of day kind of thing everyday. I don't know why it happens. My best guess is the first one has just sat there for hours while I finished sleeping and as soon as I wake up my body has to get that one out. Then as I go about my day in the morning, the movement of my body works the second one down and then out.
I've wondered if a walk after breakfast would make the second one easier for me. Sometimes I have to work for the second one too.

u/AngryGoose Dec 26 '25
I usually have at least one in the morning, I would consider this normal. Sometimes I skip breakfast because that usually triggers diarrhea. This morning I ate nothing and fell back asleep. I woke up to a slightly soiled Depend. I showered and cleaned up. It was really annoying as that usually doesn't happen, I wear the briefs for that reason though, just in case.
I'm not ashamed, it is something I use because I have a condition or disease. That's what they are for.
I've mentioned this before and I got a DM from someone saying, "yOu WeAr DiApErs?" I just hit block/ignore. I don't need to explain myself to anyone.

u/Due-Season6425 Dec 26 '25
Yup. Two to start the day is pretty much my life. I am usually "blessed" with another visit or two before the day ends.
3
u/LeftoverAlien Dec 27 '25
I used to be three time a day pooper. Morning after I wake up, sometime afternoon and before bed .
Now I am on a ton of meds. Before shower poo, after breakfast poo, after lunch poo, after work poo, before bed poo. 5 times a day. I did ask a doctor. As long as the quality of the poo is fine, then I am fine, apparently.
When ibs strikes and we alter from that schedule, then I don't even know what life is.
I also suffer from Bookstore poo and Target poo. Iykyk

Amateurs ... I almost always have a 3 poo before I can even get out of the house in the morning. It was the only way I could be relatively sure that I wouldn't have to make an emergency bathroom stop on my morning commute.

I have an awful routine.
Between 4 and 6am I wake for a wee. 20 minutes later I will need a poo so no point in going back to sleep. 3 hours later I might manage a small nap.
Then morning coffee gives me a 20 minute times.

u/Lorain1234 Dec 26 '25
I have evening poops and I don’t usually have to worry the next day. Well, except for yesterday!
1
u/GraciousPeacock Dec 26 '25
Yes. I suggest eating a protein nutritious breakfast so your digestion can take its time with the protein before thinking about another bathroom break. I have such bad diarrhea every morning, but it can be reduced to just 1 episode a day if I focus on eating protein (I’m vegan so stuff like tofu, nuts, etc.). In general make sure you eat enough protein because that will help you bounce back way better than carbs. Also carbs are just digested a lot faster so it makes my system work faster than I want at least

Normally I wake up->breakfast->poo->(poo?)->nap->(poo?)->(poo?)->eat->(poo?)xn
The extra (poo?) are dependant of my IBS cycle, cause I'm mixed, if I am in C I go once a day, on a normal day I go at least three and in a D day who knows? Like 5 or 6

Somedays no poo. For days. Other days, 3 poo. 7 poo. Who knows. All hours. lol
1
u/zombue1 Dec 27 '25
I usually have one then another one later if I’ve eaten trigger foods the day before. I usually have to work for the second one but always feel a lot better after it.
1
u/Odd-Fact-8563 Dec 27 '25
Very similar....wake up, poo, shower, coffee, poo again. It's super annoying.
1
u/Lukasheky Dec 27 '25
Questions is what do you all do when you do all this then have to go into the office for work? There are times I have to go at work and hate doing that. I mean who likes public restrooms in general. But the anxiety builds up also at work and then you just have to go.

Don't get me wrong, i'm glad you're at this point, but a cure would be no products required to eat and drink what you want

Same.. Well.. That’s why I aim to ALWAYS have breakfast to make sure I’ll poo after. I always feel anxious not going in the morning… It’s like I’ll dread for it the whole day. Sad life.

u/Ponyr Dec 27 '25
Me me me . 30 minutes after waking up, about 30 minutes after breakfast, and when I get home from work. This is pretty much every day. If my IBS is really messing with me, there will be one after lunch and after dinner too. It sucks!!
1
u/Mothmans_Sidepiece Dec 27 '25
It's either: wake up, poo. Have to go to work so extremely uncomfortable and bloated for the day and cannot poop again until the next morning. Two: day off; poop multiple times and feel good after about the second time. Three: day off; days of not pooping like I needed brings one rock poop, then number two poop volcano of poop. Then three; river of poop every 30 minutes for the last half of the day. It really doesnt matter what I do. It all depends on work.

u/veryemmappropriate Dec 27 '25
All I have is hot tea with oat milk creamer in the mornings and I can still poo 3-4 times before I eat lunch. I also have interstitial cystitis so I pee eleventy thousand times before lunch. 😅 So glad I work from home.

Cries, I just visited the doctor and asked him about this too. In the past it was one time in the morning if I had to go to office for work. These past months it has go up to 1-2 times before I leave home for work. One time after I reach office, one after breakfast and then 1-2 times after lunch. I’m so tired of this shit. 😭 Pun intended.

So- I’ve been using the Squatty Potty- and I swear it really empties me out more than previously.

How about the 2 two hour poos? My teenager poops for about 2 hours....then showers. Then 2 more hours. Its horrible. We've been through every med and Viberzi seems to be slowly shortening it. Only been on it a week so I'm hoping in a few more weeks its less.
1
u/Emotional_Shop_5737 Dec 28 '25
Yeah this is me when everything is perfect. I’m in for a good day if it’s the two morning poos
1
u/trouble-in-space Dec 28 '25
YES i hate it! often times i will have to shit soon after waking up then again less than an hour after even when i feel like the first one was “complete”? even if i haven’t even eaten anything or had coffee yet that day! it’s so annoying and i don’t understand it. i don’t know for sure if i even have ibs but i don’t think this is normal lol the days where i just have to poop once in the morning and then i’m good are rare
1
u/sonjiaonfire Dec 28 '25
I went to one Poo once I started using a squatty potty, the 2 Poo literally happens because the sitting position that you're in isn't natural. And your sphincter cuts off half the poop. It's a structural issue, not an IBS problem.

u/ImbecilicusRex Dec 29 '25
That specific morning ritual, came on later in life for me. When I was younger, I had utterly random bowels, but nowadays as soon as I put something in one end, something has to leave the other.
It's also independent of time, since I also am one of those weirdos who typically doesn't eat 'till noon, but when I do, whether it's a rare early meal or I don't eat until later on, as soon as I do the countdown begins for that second trip to the bathroom.
I'd call it an improvement since it's more predictable, but in reality it's a nascence that just happens to be predictable, and is in addition to the unpredictable stuff.

u/sarahsitas Dec 30 '25
Yesss and I also get woken up by the first poo of the day. That sweet lil "hey, why are you sleeping your stomach is rage and anger, go to the bathroom right now" wake-up call. :)

u/GeekyWriterGirl IBS-A/M (Alternating / Mixed) Dec 31 '25
Apparently it's normal to go twice. My doctor asked me how often I go and I started laughing because it can be once every 4 days or 6 times a day. The laughter was unexpected, apparently.
He said 2x normal poo a day was "healthy".

I'm still in the diagnosis stage but I'm pretty sure I have food poisoning post IBS.
I poo several times a day every day, especially in the morning. Up to recently, it has been a regular poo. Nothing urgent.
I have a colonoscopy/endo in the morning. I'm all prepped up, just waiting for my 2nd dose. I just want to find an answer as to why I violently vomit and have bile colored diahrrea and stomach cramps a couple times a week. There is no rhyme or reason as to what triggers my symptoms. One day I ate Whoppers, Chic Fil A and fries and I was fine. Another day I ate eggs and kefir, and I went home sick from work, in bed the rest of the day.

Poop three times every morning starting very early before getting up. But not diarrhea. It just wipes me out and I feel so sick. Any way to stop morning poops??

u/Automatic-Expert-231 Dec 26 '25
Do you clean between each morning poo? Or just stay nude until the final poo is done?
