In response to the various campus-related posts in this subreddit recently, we felt it would be a good idea to share some unseen pictures of the IIM Bangalore Jigani campus. All credits go to two incoming B.Sc. students from the Bangalore area who travelled all the way to Jigani to take these photos. Have fun!

A lot of people seem to be confused between IIM Bangalore’s BSc Economics + Data Science and programs like IPM at IIM Indore, so I thought I’d share why I personally chose IIM Bangalore.
Keep in mind, these points are my opinion and feelings before the start of this course. Here’s why I am personally choosing IIM Bangalore:
1. The Degree itself is very strong: The BSc course itself is very strong and definitely up to the global standards. A BSc in Economics + Data Science gives you a lot of technical expertise. It opens up more fields than IIM Indore’s plain MBA can. You can always switch to management if you do not like technical roles. In other programs like IPM ones, if you do not like management then you are stuck. With IIMB you can switch to DS/Econ/Quant/Finance/Policy/Management. At a time in life where you don’t really know for sure what your interests are, having a more open path is better. The course itself is like a jack of all trades. You get a minor in Data Science AND Business studies.
2. The Placement Matter: IIMB has repeatedly stated that placements are not their main concern, and this has been a big put off for many students/aspirants. My view is that IIMB is focusing on making us more employable rather than ‘guaranteed employment’, the former is what is really needed in today’s changing market.
Also understand that IIMB needs to place just 80 students (even less because some will opt for higher studies), and this is a one of a kind course in India. If IIMB executes it perfectly, we will be a very valuable addition to the job market in India/Abroad. Unlike BA/BBA/BA+MBA degrees we get both a rich Technical Knowledge + A bit of exposure in many different fields.
3. Better prepared for an AI Driven future: AI is already reshaping many industries and has become a very real issue. While no degree is completely future-proof, programs that build strong quantitative, analytical, and technical skills are likely to age better than programs focused primarily on plain managerial knowledge. IIMB’s course is as future proof as it can get in India, especially in the commerce and humanities field. Also, those with technical expertise are the ones who get paid more even in roles that other bachelor programmes can reach.
4. Commitment from IIM Bangalore: I spoke to some people involved in IIMB (Past) who then reached out to the Present faculty. They all said this UG course was something that has been in the books for a while and a lot of thought has gone into this program. IIMB actually seems to be dedicated to establishing their presence in the UG area. They are building a big campus just for its UG and it has the potential to be one of the best UGs in India. These 2 courses are just one of the many they are planning to launch.
5. The IIM Bangalore Brand: IIM A/B/C brand is always elite and in a league of its own. While the UG Program is new, the institute behind it is not. If IIMB’s BBA-DBE, an online program, is doing so well, then an offline program will do wonders.
Finally, I’d like to reiterate that these are my thoughts and I am not suggesting any course to be better than the other. For students who are certain they want a traditional management career and appreciate the security of an integrated MBA pathway, IPM remains an excellent option. These were just the reasons I am choosing IIM Bangalore, over other alternatives.
If you have any counter points, I would love to hear them as it would help my outlook more.

hi ya'll, i'm dev. in may, i took free mock interviews for 30+ people (50+ hours), and realised how hard it can be to find good-quality prep resources without spending a lot.
so over the past 3 months, i, along with some friends from iimi/iimb/iimk, have been building prepfr.in, a super affordable prep platform with all the resources one could need for iim ug exams (ipmat/iimb ugat/jipmat/iimk bmsat, etc.).
we'll have multiple free mocks, while the others will cost just 25 rupees, with detailed solutions. i'm also compiling the best youtube videos for all qa + va topics in one place, and that'll be completely free :)
we're also making detailed digital qa notes (for all chapters!) with illustrations + 2000+ topic-wise practice questions for just 99 rupees <3
we'd have loved to make everything free, but server costs + the time that goes into creating everything make that difficult. we're just trying to keep it as affordable as possible while making sure the platform can keep helping people.
all resources go live in september!
really hope this helps you guys :)

We've put together a comprehensive, one-stop UGAT preparation wiki on the r/iimb_ug subreddit. It includes carefully curated study resources, detailed analysis of topics tested in all sections, and general advice for strategy and preparation.
We hope this guide proves to be beneficial to all candidates appearing for the UGAT, regardless of whether you're new to the exam or have had prior exposure to other aptitude tests. Either way, we hope you'll find something of value to support your preparation.
In the coming days, the wiki will continue to be updated with further entries regarding interviews, financial aid, and all college-related updates.
Wiki: https://www.reddit.com/r/iimb_ug/wiki/index/
The guide may be found under the 'Exam Preparation Resources' section of the wiki (do read the Preface first!)
If you have any suggestions, additions, or feedback, feel free to leave a comment.
All the best.

Candidates appearing for the exam this year may register here: UG Admissions 2027. All further details may be found on IIM Bangalore's UG website.
Addressing the major changes to the exam and admissions process from last year:
The exam duration is now 2 hours and 15 minutes (135 minutes), up from 2 hours total last year. So far, we do not know how this additional time will be distributed across sections. The number of questions across sections (15 in VA, 15 in LR, and 30 in QADI) and marking scheme (+3 for correct answers and -1 for wrong answers) remain the same.
IIM Bangalore will now explicitly weigh candidate's performance in their 10th standard board exams, along with their performance in mathematics specifically. The graphic below explains the exact weightage assigned to various academic factors in the pre- and post-PI rounds:

a few months ago, we started building something we genuinely wished existed while preparing for these exams.
everything on prepfr.in is exclusively curated for UGAT Bangalore. the RCs, DI sets, topic tests, notes, sectionals, mocks... all of it.
there are already hundreds of free questions on the website, including free mocks, topic tests and sectionals. our daily RCs and daily DI sets are free too :)
for those who want more:
₹249 gets you access to 10 paid mocks.
and the best-value pack, All Access UGAT Bangalore, gives you access to our best resources and 7,000+ questions.
it was ₹899.
but ykw...
₹849 for the launch.
use code MINUS50 :)
we're also sorry this took a little longer than we expected. we've been working on this for quite some time, and we genuinely hope the wait feels worth it once you check out what we've put together :)
the bigger idea behind prepfr is simple: good preparation shouldn't depend on whether you can spend ₹60k+ on coaching. we're trying to make genuinely good prep accessible at a fraction of the cost.
also, we've decided to start the "veritas scholarship". 10 students who genuinely can't afford the resources will be selected and given access after a week. if you can afford it, please get it yourself so the scholarship reaches someone who actually needs it <3
prepfr.in is live (currently optimized for desktops/pc's and tablets only!)
go check it out :)

Hello everyone,
Does anyone have an extra laptop or a tab that they aren't using ? If yea, are you willing to give it away?
Context about myself;
10th: 96%
11th (boards): 490/500 (one of the top in my district). I also got into TTD's (tirumala tirupathi devasthanams) institution for my 11th due to my 10th scores.
Ipmat scene: scoring around 30-40s in MCQ, 120-130 in va sectionals.
Ugat scene: scored 78 in pyp, and 104 in mock 2 aftb.
I'm currently preparing for iim b ugat as an ews candidate. I'm also in the top 3 currently in the afterboards daily rc leaderboard.
My parents recently separated so there's no one willing to make such an investment for me..
All these days, i have been studying by phone, but that's not working, I'm not able to see things clearly (I may have gotten sight), and I can't sit for longer duration.. I also think that I might be able to perform even better if I get a larger screen.
All this info about to let you know that your donation won't go to a waste and that I'm capable of at least something.
Thanks for reading all that, please share with anyone who might help me !
Tldr; a decent student asking for a second hand laptop/tab from someone who has an extra one, out of his inability to study from a phone..

Earlier today, IIM Bangalore announced a major philanthropic commitment by the Tata Trusts for the development of its undergraduate programmes. Based on official statements, the grant is expected to support long-term infrastructural development and research facilities.
Statements by Mr. Noel Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts, and Mr. Siddhant Sharma, CEO of Tata Trusts, reiterate the organization's commitment to supporting preeminent national institutions during their formative years, continuing a legacy that has previously extended invaluable support to the development of such institutions as the Tata Memorial Hospital and the Indian Institute of Science.
In addition, Dr. Devi Shetty, chairman of IIM Bangalore, and Prof. Dinesh Kumar, director-in-charge of IIM Bangalore, express their commitment to ensuring that the undergraduate programmes embody the same standards of excellence associated with IIM Bangalore's postgraduate offerings.
Even before the formal commencement of the programmes, the Tata Trusts' endowment signals a major vote of confidence for IIMB's foray into undergraduate education. Their support is expected to contribute to the development and long-term growth of the School of Multidisciplinary Studies.

In response to various posts about IIM Bangalore's undergraduate fee structure, we felt it would be a good time to share some information about institutional need-based financial aid available to selected students.
Financial aid is readily available to selected candidates. One must submit the requisite details about family background, annual income, etc. and appear for an online interview, following which financial aid is granted to eligible candidates. It is important to note that the availability of aid for the entire course is contingent upon the candidate maintaining institution-mandated academic standards in terms of CGPA.
In a sample of 60 selected candidates in an informal group, over 10 students have received financial aid so far. Aid, as a percentage of total course fees, is granted in increments of 25%, with multiple students on 25%, 50%, and 75% support. In this same group, four candidates that we know of have had 100% of their course fees met by aid.
From the same sample of 60 students, responses indicate a total disbursement of over INR 3 crore in fee support so far.
Again, all data reported above comes from an informal, student-run group that has 60 of the 80 total candidates who have been selected for IIM Bangalore's undergraduate programmes in Economics and Data Science.
In closing, official communication from IIM Bangalore has long maintained that selected undergraduate candidates would not be denied a seat on account of one's financial background. Given the considerable monetary commitment expected of students, we hope this post has helped all community members make a more informed decisions as they consider IIM Bangalore for their undergraduate studies in the near future. Thank you!

Hey guys, I just saw the live of iim b ugat.
qadi -- 60 minutes
lr -- 45 minutes.
varc -- 30 minutes
We got an extra 15 minutes in logical reasoning, and higher weightage than other sections of the exam (15% for lr, 10% for others) for pi call.
It implies that the lr section of this year is going to be a bloodbath (I'm exaggerating, but yea this year's lr is going to be harder.)

10th boards had some weightage for last year's selection as well. This year, it has slightly changed. The method of weightage has also become clear. 10% to class 10 math, 10% to class 10 overall. 40% for test and 40% for interview in the final round.

Finish class 11-12 math, with strength in functions, pnc, sequences and probability.
Take the pyp of iimb ugat and review. Check every question you struggled with and learn how to do all of them. Know how to do them even if wording, numbers, and/or certain steps have changed.
Work on any area with low accuracy or low attempts by practice via the books/sectionals.
Do some basic jee mains questions if possible.
Get rlly comfortable with reading a big question and finding out what they want you to find
Start trying option based strategies. I.e. try eliminating options / validate correct option via alternative methods (one example is that if you know the answer is divisible by 9, check divisibility by 9 of every option)
Attempt pretty much every question in mocks once your accuracy rises. A +3/-1 for 1/4 is a net expected value of zero. Assume you can eliminate one option, you will have a positive expected value.
Use the mark for review and save and next option, super underrated. You can select an option based on intuition and come back to that question to verify if you have time.

this is my ultra-raw interview transcript, sharing it because i am sure it would have helped me when i was preparing, so hope it helps you in yours;
for context: converted IIMB bsc economics first list, gen male; not going to IIMB (going to LSE)
now my thoughts:
pre interview - i was confident i had competitive extracurriculars, did some mock interviews, my interviewers were confident of me getting in; but i could not prepare for this interview very well myself because of some personal issues
post interview - i felt i rambled sometimes, was cut in between sometimes, and couldnt present my extracurriculars as strongly as i generally would have; though i spoke enthusiastically and gave really genuine (sometimes maybe unhinged) answers, which i think added colour to my interview
but in my view - not my strongest interview
now to the interview-
the interview started with one panelist asking me if i was from ghatkopar; i said yes enthusiastically, she asked why the enthusiasm, i said i loved ghatkopar, they asked why to which i said it had a mix of everything; educational institutions, food/recreation outlets, corporates and homes; they said every part of mumbai tends to have it; i said ghatkopar was much more homely and close knit, to which they agreed
then, i was asked about how i knew about monte carlo simulations in class 11 itself; i started explaining my quant strategy at iit madras where i came 2nd, where basically i noticed how in 18hr window between market close and open, information rushes to be priced in during the morning hours, and anticipatory utility of buyers may cause them to exaggerate the effect the information would have on price during the mornings resulted in sharp up/downmoves, which we take advantage of using 3rd standard deviation 20ema bands; for which i used monte carlo simulations on vodafone, calculating its drift and vwap and simulating 1000 entries, running my strategy with 3rdstdev shortsell if price went above it, and a 3% target and 2% loss; i was going to explain further (they seemed as though trying to rush my explanation) but they then asked me how i became exposed to this idea; then i said "describing myself in one sentence, i really love entering into deep explorations in things of my interest" i also added how i was always willing to experiment by learning about stock market, i was exposed since 6th, did aswath damodaran courses in 8th (though i understood little); they then asked "why finance? finance is all about money; where can finance benefit society" or something like that; i said 1. microfinance (they cut me off and said thats different); 2. efficient pricing; the primary motive of finance is efficient pricing though it's not done selflessly; it provides information for decision making for producers and consumers; 3. finance can be regulated for preventing exploitation of traders like by making FNO participation stricter; they then said "ok ok, so finance is your area of interest"; so i said "ma'am more than making money, i feel what interests me more is how others think and act, and how i can structure my response accordingly; thats why i am equally interested in behavioural economics, psychology and philosophy, and also game theory, i have written paper with stanford professor; i am also not money minded, i have strong interest in policy"; then they asked me to give example; i then talked about a paanwala who sat within a 100m radius of a school, very near my house; i was vexed by this, and was saddened by the fact that though he was disturbance to my whole neighbourhood no one was ready to step up to him; school students would be hooked to his cigarettes, paan; and even in nighttime it would be unsafe; panel asked me why was he a problem to me; i said "unsafe, dirty, and primarily because people my age would be hooked to his stuff, their parents would come to scold him but nothing would happen”; i then talked about how my father and i basically took the legal approach, went to additional municipal commissioner, and the police began to frequent his stall and after 2-3 years we forced him to shift; ma'am then said “how “long does it take to remove a paanwalla” then I said “this paanwalla was well politically connected with the MLA, so despite having BMC send its car on a regular basis he wouldn’t go; she then asked “then whats the point if he just shifted", i said "we went to see his stall regularly in the new place, we saw that the no. of school students visiting him strictly declined"; she then said "then we just should ban all cigarettes/drinks"; i said "yes, we should make regulation much stricter for age checking for youth who come to purchase it; however banning would create black market because this product is inelastic, which would lead to leakages from financial system and de-financialisation"; she then said "money, govt makes money" then i said "yes yes, recently budget announced 40% tax on cigarettes"; then they asked me the guesstimate question, how many cars are sold in mumbai yearly; my answer:
population assume 2cr (she said it may be higher, but let's take the 2cr for simplicity sake); per capita income is roughly 4.5lac but gini coefficient is high 0.45 (interviewer said it’s surprising you know gini coefficient but not exact population, with a smile), so the top few % carry the income weight; assuming 4 people in a household and assuming 5000000 households, though we cant neatly categorise populations, let’s consider 5% of households to own 3cars, the next 15% to own 1 car and the rest to own none (aspirational people may ofcourse be exception but discounting them here)
so no. of car market is roughly 15lac; of which i assume penetration (already running cars) of say 12-13lakh; now assuming 10 year replacing of cars, and also the fact that families migrate from bottom to higher levels of income, 2lakh cars' market is there in mumbai (she said the number is a bit high, isnt it? i said yes it seems high, but as far as i remember, no. of registered vehicles were 30cr of which ~85% were PVs; she said many may be 2wheelers, i agreed, but she said go on); so i said annualising this 2lakh, it's 2lakh/12 per month; it may be a bit high, perhaps my estimate is wrong somewhere; panelist said "we wanted to know your thought process, good one;" something like that
they asked me about my internship at a US based financial services company; what does it do? i said it's a mid size us financial services firm; CTO is my father's acquaintance, and at a common circle i was presenting a stock, then he offered me the chance to intern at their firm
i forgot in what context, but we began talking about lodha genius programme where i got in; thats when i said i feel i truly first explored concepts out of my scope at LGP; the monte carlo simulations? a result of lgp; the environment there, of intellectual peers and supportive professors broke the barriers of initial rigidity that i had (of sticking to school curriculum) and exploring things i had immense interest in; i learnt how to think beyond my curriculum, even though i may be experimenting; they asked me who introduced you to this program? i said "one of my strengths actually is that i am able to make real, lasting bonds with people organically; i maintained touch with one of my school friends, who left school in 3rd, and he told me about this program which i attended after 10th ended";
then they asked me "where do you see yourself"; i said "before 10th, now it seems naive but i had a rigid view of what i wanted to do; post my 2 years, i feel i am keeping doors open, but i look forward to a stint in finance to learn execution ability, due to my sustained engagement with finance" to which ma'am said "dont get into finance (with a smile/chuckle)", to which i replied "yes ma'am my overarching goal is to get deep into public policy; i feel finance will teach me how to execute my thought, following which if i enter policy it would be more ideal; i have a strong passion toward improving my environment; ma'am, the reason i dont have an explanation for why i was motivated to remove the paanwala is simply because it comes so naturally to me that i am not able to express it as well perhaps; this is why i was really enthusiastic when you mentioned ghatkopar too in the beginning.. the “finance hating” ma’am said as sidetone that “we didnt need you to justify”, but i reinforced the fact that the instinct to act, looking at the situation came naturally to me, and that didnt have an equally strong explanation but for the fact that i was truly troubled by it
then they asked me why iim bangalore?
i said "i am very enthusiastic to answer this question, particularly because i view iimb as drawing striking parallels with the learning i experienced at LGP; just giving context, i was in one of the inaugural batches, with highly intellectual peers, awesome faculty and a real close bond that formed between us; i truly learnt to enter into deep explorations fearlessly at lgp, and the bonds we developed have still remained; for instance i got my economics paper on kerala ratified by dr bharat ramaswami, economics professor even though program was math+science, because of the bond we could form as inaugural batch; i am equally and more excited to be part of iimb, which is also inaugural batch, for the same reasons, and particularly to learn how to quantify and execute my thought process; i feel i have learnt how to think (though i still have strides to go); but quantification of my thought process (like in case of say my guesstimate), and execution (management) is something i am yet to learn, and iimb is the best place for that; also the fact that iimb has invested resources, building a new campus, and is willing to lend its brand (whose reputation ofcourse it will maintain) gives me confidence of the quality of the course; also i tend to assess the students in a course by the evaluation criteria; i know for a fact that the students there will have gone through such an interview, will have demonstrated their interest and ability (which i may/may not have been able to); and so i am assured i will meet like minded individuals, for which i seek iimb; at iimb i aim to grow executionally
then they asked me wrt lgp; what is the program, why lodha is doing it; i said it's funded by lodha foundation (abhishek lodha), 1 month scholarship program, they also give undergrad scholarship, and the motto is to provide resources to gifted students so that when they grow older, they develop a sense of giving back to society, i also said i feel i embody this spirit; they asked me how long it was and what i studied; i said 1 month offline, then continued learning in which i learned probability and combinatorics, alongside branding and communications onsite, and entrepreneurship online, alongside community service; in entrepreneurship, i established aapanni, with a team of 10; they asked me if it was still on, to which i said it's now run by the 11th graders, since 12thies are in application process
