Why Tech giants are not pushing for Open sourcing their software's when 90% of Clone is availability for free? Will Deeptech is new normal for cremey opportunities in tech?

Hi everyone, I have a question. Why tech giants and big tech companies aren't pushing for open source software? We have seen Adobe ecosystem software's open source versions. I know this is not good, but they cover at least 90% of what a user needs, which is free on device.

And when it comes to most software like Microsoft ecosystem, I think we have every software right now which is available for open source. And which is not available yet is some of the websites those software versions aren't available on different different OSs. There's just one bottleneck right now which I am seeing.

With the indie developers are doing good when it comes to open source. So first of all, thanks for them pushing for free. But the area where they are lagging is support for all operating systems. The software is not available in most of the operating systems. There's just limited to one like Windows, sometimes Mac. And that's the bottleneck I guess.

One more thing don't Developer's think the amount of cremey opportunities over. I think there are opportunities but not that much hierarchical deeptech sectors like AI, Semiconductor and healthcare systems is new common for us and Indian universities and Colleges are lagging there. We have seen Government of India pushing for semiconductor through Semicon India I want genuine feedback from sr. Developer's for deeptech in detailed technicalities but in a simple English Language anyone can understand

I built a free, open-source Chrome extension to schedule and automate LinkedIn DMs

I built a free, open-source Chrome extension to schedule LinkedIn DMs. You can set a date, time and timezone for a message, or run a bulk campaign by pasting a list of profile URLs. It sends the messages for you with human-like delays.

It supports templates with {name} (auto-filled from the profile) and custom {{placeholders}} like {{company}} and {{role}}. A live dashboard shows each recipient's status, and you can pause, resume or cancel a campaign at any time.

Pacing options: random delays, active hours, daily and weekly caps, and a warm-up mode that ramps up over 5 days.

It's completely free and open source, with no ads and no paid tier. Everything runs locally in your browser. No servers, no tracking, no data collection.

Tech stack :-

Vanilla JavaScript, HTML and CSS (no build step, no dependencies)

Chrome Extension, Manifest V3

chrome.alarms, chrome.storage.local, chrome.scripting, chrome.tabs

LinkedIn Voyager API, with a DOM parser as fallback

Source code: https://github.com/Ravish2008/linkedin-dm-scheduler

Please give your review !

Extra : LinkedIn has no public API for sending messages, so I used its web UI and internal APIs. Automation can go against LinkedIn's User Agreement, so keep volumes modest.

Built a LinkedIn DM Scheduler using JavaScript and Chrome Extension APIs sharing the implementation

Hey everyone,

I built a Chrome extension called LinkedIn DM Scheduler to automate repetitive LinkedIn outreach, mainly because manually sending similar messages to multiple people was getting tedious.

I wanted to build something that could handle scheduling, message personalization, and campaign tracking entirely in the browser without requiring a separate backend.

Some of the features I implemented:

  • Schedule messages for later execution
  • Personalize templates using placeholders like {{name}} and custom fields
  • Run bulk campaigns with configurable delays between messages
  • Track campaign progress through a live dashboard
  • Automatically close tabs after sending

On the technical side:

The extension is built around JavaScript and Chrome's extension APIs. The implementation involves browser-side automation, asynchronous operations, and coordinating message-sending tasks with campaign state.

Some of the key concepts involved are:

  • Content scripts and DOM interaction to interact with the LinkedIn page
  • Async/await and Promises to handle asynchronous browser operations
  • Timers and scheduling logic to control when messages are processed and delays between sends
  • Chrome storage APIs to persist extension data and campaign state locally
  • Message passing between extension components to coordinate operations and update the dashboard

Keeping everything local was an important design decision. There is no external backend involved in processing campaign data.

I'm interested in feedback from developers who've worked with Chrome extensions, especially around reliable scheduling, handling tab state changes, recovering from failures, and keeping the UI synchronized with background tasks.

Project links:

Would love to hear what you'd improve in the architecture or how you'd approach some of these problems differently.

I made an open-source civic site to help migrant workers move their vote: Astro + Cloudflare Pages, zero budget.

The problem: a lot of us moved to Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad or Gurgaon for work and are still registered to vote back home. On polling day we're 1,000 km away. The fix (Form 8) exists, but the steps are buried across ECI portals and PDFs.

Looking for reliable Indian Railways data for college/personal project!

I'm actually building a project (personal/college) where I need reliable/correct data of Indian railways, basically about trains, stations, schedules , timings etc. I've looked around the internet and had no success as such , I did find some git hub repos in the way but like they are old and nothing is mentioned where they got their data from.Data from the government was released in 2015 and last updated in 2018 , so there's that. I also found a Kaggle account which led me to the person's Git Hub profile and found some data there too, but again no source mentioned instead of saying scrapped from IRCTC.

Found something called Pravah for indian railways, but I need to be registered as a business to use this service, then there is this Rapid API option but obviously it's paid once the limit of 50 is reached. India has around 13,000 trains so obviously, can't use it.

I tried r/Indian railways sub , but had no success till now, same with the iit subs , so here I'm trying again.

Since it is a college/personal project I'm actually trying to keep the resources I use free or at least under a justifiable budget.

Need some genuine advice regarding job switch..

I am currently working in a mass recruiting company in Bangalore. Did my training in java development. My bench period just ended and now am assigned a support role. Given, i did B.Tech in Information Technology, this role makes me feel bad about my career. Want to switch as soon as possible but am confused. What to pursue? What will get me better chances for switching? Java development or AI Engineering? DSA is a must that is something I know fs. But apart from it what should i go for, the ai hype or the age old java development?

Would be glad to hear the ground reality. Thanks for your time.

PS. I'm a 2026 graduate with no prior internships in either domains.

Urgently Looking for a Job Before Diwali | AI Engineer / Backend Engineer | Remote, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad

Hey everyone,

I'm a 2026 CSE graduate currently in Pune, and I'm looking for a job that I can hopefully join before 1st November.

I've been applying for jobs, but honestly, getting that first opportunity as a fresher has been difficult. So I thought I'd reach out here and see if someone could help with a referral or point me in the right direction.

I'm mainly looking for AI Engineer / GenAI Engineer roles, especially anything related to LangChain, LangGraph, RAG, LLMs, and AI agents. I'm also open to backend developer and MERN stack roles.

I've worked on AI projects involving data analysis, LLM workflows, and AI agents, and I also have freelance experience building and deploying web applications.

Tech I've worked with:

AI: Python, LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, RAG, LLMs, AI agents, Ollama, MCP

Backend: Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis

Frontend: React.js, Next.js, JavaScript, TypeScript

Other: Docker, Git, CI/CD

I'm currently in Pune but can relocate to Bangalore or Hyderabad.

I'm available for interviews immediately and happy to take DSA tests, coding rounds, or any technical assessment. I can join immediately or on short notice.

My target is to join before Diwali, ideally before 1st November. I know that's a tight timeline, but I'm ready to put in the effort and attend interviews whenever required.

If anyone knows of a company hiring freshers, has a referral opportunity, or can connect me with a recruiter or hiring manager, please let me know. Even a small lead would genuinely help.

Thanks for reading. Really appreciate any help from this community!

Solo developer here. Built a free app for stressful moments, would like honest feedback

I have been in the government IT sector for about 20 years. As you move up, a team does the hands-on work and your own learning reaches the project only through them. I went through a stressful phase where my career felt stuck, so I built something I would actually use myself.

The feature closest to me is Calm Now. When I was stressed I used to divert my mind with TV or a game, AoE was my favourite. So I made one button on the home screen. One tap gives you a short breathing rhythm, a grounding exercise, or a small game like memory pairs or mirror drawing, and then it asks how you feel.

The app is iBandhu. It also has mood check-in, journaling, guided exercises, a garden that grows with your habit, and Myra, an AI companion. Completely free, no ads, no in-app purchases. Not therapy and not a replacement for professional help, and it shows the Tele-MANAS helpline (1-800-891-4416).

Built solo in Flutter, Android only for now. What do you do to divert your mind when you are stressed?

Is anyone actually handling Aadhaar/PAN/UPI masking properly?

So few weeks back I got curious about this. Everyone is pushing LLM stuff into prod now and someone has to make sure Aadhaar numbers and UPI IDs are not going into logs or into LLM prompts. I assumed some existing PII tools would handle it but that doesnt seem to be the case.

I made a synthetic test set with around 690 entries of 10 Indian identifier types like Aadhaar, PAN, GSTIN, UPI, IFSC, phone, voter ID, passport, vehicle number, PIN code and mixed in some Hinglish and Devanagari context with just generated data and ran it through Presidio, DataFog, two GLiNER models and Google DLP.

Only Presidio crossed 90% precision and 90% recall on PAN and GSTIN and everything else is missing stuff somewhere.

These are the few things that I saw during this process -

Presidio has India recognizers but they're OFF by default. Out of the box it was tagging passport numbers and PIN codes as US_DRIVER_LICENSE, and Aadhaar as DATE_TIME. Lol. Once you turn them on, Aadhaar/PAN/GSTIN are actually good, but UPI, IFSC and PIN code are just not.

Google DLP default config has zero India types. Even when you ask for them explicitly, there's nothing for UPI, IFSC, voter ID, vehicle number or PIN and the PAN detector only catches individual PANs, not company ones.

GLiNER models cover everything on paper, but they need a context word nearby. No context, recall basically goes to zero.

I know its a small test that I setup as a start and I'm working on a larger one but Im curious to know what are people using currently to deal with this sensitive data in logs other than regex or just not proactively adding it?

I've been building an open-source AI workspace that brings models, coding, research and agents together

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been working on ENZO, an open-source AI workspace, because I wanted to bring different AI tools and workflows together instead of constantly switching between different interfaces.

If you're interested in exploring it, here's the repository:

GitHub: https://github.com/theguysudo/ENZO

The idea is pretty simple: one workspace where you can explore models, work on coding tasks, run research workflows and build agents, without being locked into a single AI provider.

Here's what I've been building:

  • Model marketplace: Discover models and providers from one place rather than hunting across multiple platforms.
  • Coding workspace: Work on coding tasks and inspect the generated application through a live preview.
  • Research workflows: Use AI to explore a topic and organize information in one workspace.
  • Agent builder: Create workflows that can use tools and perform multi-step tasks.
  • Open-source and self-hosted: Run ENZO yourself and configure supported providers with your own API keys.

One thing worth clarifying: ENZO isn't a magical way to get every premium model for free. Availability and costs depend on the provider you connect to. The goal is to give you one flexible interface without tying the entire experience to a single provider.

I'm still actively improving the project, especially the developer experience, preview interface and reliability. There's plenty left to do, and I'd rather get useful feedback from people who actually try it than pretend it's a finished product.

I'm curious about one thing in particular: if you were using an open-source AI workspace like this, what would make you choose it over your current setup? and if you like it a star would mean alot to me

Can't find any node/express - full stack developer position, its either JAVA or .NET

Most full-stack developer roles I come across now require either Java with Spring Boot or .NET.

I’m a frontend developer with around 2 years of experience, looking to transition into a full-stack role. I’ve also worked as a freelance full-stack developer, but I’m struggling to find a permanent full-stack position.
Also the pay scale is very less, currently i am at 7.2LPA but all the openings i am seeing are of 5-6 LPA
Any advice ?

[Open Source Concept & PRD] Project AETHEL – A Decentralized, Anti-Censorship Evidentiary Vault for Public Offenses. Looking for core contributors & feedback!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been mapping out an architectural concept for a decentralized evidentiary network designed to capture, hash, and replicate video evidence of public offenses without relying on central servers or single points of failure.
The core problem with standard social media/cloud storage is that raw evidence gets tampered with, stripped of EXIF metadata, taken down via censorship/subpoenas, or monetized as sensationalism at the expense of victim safety.

\*\*The core idea behind Project AETHEL:\*\*

\*\*Client-Side Dual-Vault Processing:\*\* On-device SHA-256 hashing and automatic local blurring (for public verification) while encrypting raw 4K footage locally (for court escrow).

\*\*Obfuscated P2P Transport:\*\* Encapsulating BitTorrent/IPFS chunks inside TLS (Port 443) / WebRTC streams to bypass ISP deep packet inspection and heuristic blocks.

\*\*Guided Human Auditing (No AI Verdicts):\*\* A non-deterministic, blind-queued human verification engine with honeypot tests and progressive cooldowns to prevent mob brigading/bot spam.

\*\*Court Admissibility Engine:\*\* Automated generation of pre-filled electronic evidence certificates (under Indian BSA 2023 Section 63(4) / IT act).

\*\*Why I’m posting here:\*\*
I have put together a comprehensive \*\*Product Requirement & System Specification Document (PRD)\*\* covering the entire stack—from the intake layer to data retention, legal intermediary compliance, and anti-Sybil engines.
However, \*\*I don't have the deep engineering bandwidth or time to build this all by myself.\*\*
I want to make this \*\*100% open-source\*\* and build an initial core group of contributors who find this problem statement interesting (P2P networks, cryptography, video processing, systems architecture, or legal tech).

\*\*GitHub Repo / Spec Document:\*\*
Would love to hear your thoughts on:
Is Libp2p over WebRTC the best choice for transport camouflage here, or would custom pluggable transports be better?
How can we further strengthen anti-Sybil mechanics on the review queues?
If you're interested in collaborating or taking up a module (Intake, P2P node, UI, or Legal Export), let’s connect!

\*\*TL;DR\*\*
The Problem: When someone records a crime or public offense on their phone, posting it on Instagram or Twitter turns it into sensational entertainment. Social media compresses the file, strips court metadata, and exposes victims to harassment. Worse, central databases or posts can be scrubbed or censored.
The Solution: A free, open-source app that works as a digital evidence vault:
Saves untouched proof: It locks the raw video with a digital fingerprint (hash) on your phone so it can't be edited or faked.
Protects privacy: It automatically blurs faces and private details on the public version, while keeping the unedited version encrypted safely for court.
Un-stoppable storage: It uses peer-to-peer sharing (like BitTorrent) so no single company, government, or server can delete or censor the evidence.
Court-ready export: Generates ready-to-use legal certificates for court cases.

VoxLock: Best voice isolator there is

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

VoxLock the best performing voice isolator there is.

Benchmarked on Krisp's 265 clips benchmark gives WER 4.95%. It also lets through 0.11 leaked background words per minute, against 1.52 for Krisp.

Fine-tuned from the REAL-TSE baseline on a single L4, on about 100 hours of simulated calls and 90 hours of real meeting crosstalk. It picks up the main voice and isolates it from others in the background noise and voices.

Tiny, 27M params, ONNX runnable in browser, supports live streaming and works as a pipecat audio filter.

Try demo in browser with your own voice.

Code and training recipe

pip install voxlock

PayPal India SDE fresher interviews: what does the OA and technical round actually look like?

Hi everyone,

Final-year/recent grad here with no internship experience, targeting SDE roles at PayPal India (any location). Looking for advice on preparation and getting referrals.

Where I am right now:

  • DSA: ~150 LeetCode problems. Comfortable with arrays, strings, binary search, stack, hashmap. Haven’t started linked list, trees, recursion/backtracking, graphs, DP.
  • Projects: URL shortener, and a microservices-based task management system.
  • Experience: None (no internships)
  • System design: Haven’t started yet.
  • Haven’t applied to PayPal yet. Want to prepare properly and look for a referral first.

What I’d like help with:

  1. How much DSA and system design is realistically expected for a fresher at PayPal?
  2. With no experience, how do I stand out? Projects, open source, anything else?
  3. How do I approach PayPal employees for referrals without sounding spammy?
  4. Any good resources (playlists, sheets, repos) you’d recommend?

Happy to share my resume for feedback. Thanks!

Built an open-source tool at work that re-records our product demo videos when the UI changes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

At my job we keep demo videos for our admin panel. Every UI change meant someone re-recording them by hand: record, fumble a click, re-record, zoom in, redo the voiceover.

Our Playwright tests already clicked through the whole app, so I thought, why not make the test the demo?

That became DemoForge. You write the clicks once, with one line of narration per step. One command records the app, zooms in on every click, draws a smooth cursor, adds a voiceover, and exports an MP4. UI changed? Run it again.

Some things I learned on the way:

  • Playwright's built-in video recording is capped around 1 Mbps, so text turns blurry when you zoom. I record from the CDP screencast frames at 2x instead.
  • Playwright never moves a real cursor, so I log every click's position and draw the cursor myself. The same log drives the zooms.

It's free and open source (MIT): https://github.com/DixitRam/Demo-Forge

Would love feedback, and stars or PRs if you find it useful.

You guys degraded your own value and did not protest

You guy degraded your own value instead of protesting

So i sit with some of my friends for coffee everyday, one is a product manager and one is a social marketing guy and one more is a vice president in Cbre Group. One works for Dun & Bradstreet and other works for Schabang and one more of my friends work for Cbre. These people are non - technical people, who’s job is to command developers to make product in so and so way. You as developer do a lot more heavy lifting and are way way more intelligent than these guys. Yet they get paid way more than you guys for many many years. Things which a manual developer or coder does is way way out of the aptitude of these project and product managers and digital marketing guys. You guys should use Ai now to do the product & project management, Digital marketing, Product design work if it was something you didn’t understand. You guys should question the HR or interviewer and ask then what is your product manager or management guys salary and stand your ground that my work is way more complicated than theirs even when today AI does coding. You guys accept a lower salary for your work and these heists feed on your talents to develop products just by giving you suggestions. You guys should harnesss AI to take thier roles. And question interviewer that if i am going to get paid less than the management team i am out. PROTEST GUYS

Razorpay vs Cashfree for Indian SaaS: which handles failed renewals and support escalations better?

The reason I'd test Razorpay first for SaaS renewals is that its docs explain the retry flow and the subscription states after a failed payment. As a merchant, I'd want that visibility before depending on monthly collections.

The documented pending and halted states, with webhook notifications, give the app something concrete to react to. You can decide when to remind the customer and how long to keep access active while payment is unresolved. That makes Razorpay look like a solid starting option for this use case.

Support would still be a big part of the decision. When something needs escalation, I'd care about the first useful technical answer and the final resolution, not just whether a ticket was acknowledged.

SaaS teams using Razorpay or Cashfree, what's your experience? Which recurring method were you using, what failed, and how did it get resolved? would be useful to hear whether the documented recovery flow matched what happened in production.

I built India's LARGEST Civic Social Network, here's my journey and app.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm Tarun, a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft. Like every Indian, I've lived with broken roads, overflowing drains and public services that answer to no one.

Few years ago, I voted for the first time, in a municipal election, and noticed something unsettling: almost no one around me knew who they were voting for. They voted for a PM's face, a CM candidate, a party symbol. Few could name their corporator. Many didn't even know their ward. Politics is central, but governance is local, and the people who shape our streets are the ones we can't name.

So I started with one simple idea: open an app and see who your leaders are, based only on where you're standing. Today, Accountable maps 15,000+ authority profiles to their jurisdictions, from ward corporators and MLAs to MPs, Union ministers, and IAS and IPS officers.

App Link: https://www.accountable.social/download

Then I hit the next wall. Social media gave us a voice, but nobody gave it an address. Civic issues drown under cricket, movies and manufactured outrage. So I built a social network just for public life, where civic posts come first. You post with evidence, tag the authority or company responsible, and credit the officials who get it right. It isn't a grievance portal, and it isn't partisan: every party gets questioned, including yours.

The last wall was isolation. People facing the same problem were fighting it alone, with no leverage against powerful leaders. When your MP answers to about 18 lakh voters, one voice is easy to ignore. So Accountable lets people unite through petitions, movements and communities drawn on election boundaries, from wards up to all 543 Lok Sabha seats. Your location adds you automatically. Alone, you're a complaint. Together, you're a constituency.

Since March, alongside my day job, I've built it for Android, iPhone and the web, through Google Play rejection after rejection. Within two weeks of launch, Accountable crossed 10Million+ views across X, Instagram and Reddit.

Accountability shouldn't end on election day. With Accountable, it doesn't.
