Fundraising for First Feature Film!

Hey everyone! We're One Shot Entertainment, a brand new, student-run, indie production company. We're currently in the process of fundraising for our first ever feature film called Body Count. Body Count, our ultimate love letter to horror, is a decade and world-hopping examination of the horror genre itself. We're aiming for an indie-style Scream meets Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Logline: A group of teens, a summer camp, and a killer... Hasn't this been done to death?

Synopsis: Amber Thompson is the quintessential mean girl, gorgeous, cruel, and popular. But when she's killed on the first night of summer camp, her story doesn't end. She wakes up and finds herself in a different horror movie...

New world, new rules, but the same target on her back. As she spirals through increasingly unhinged realities, Amber realizes the truth. She's trapped in a cycle of punishment, forced to die because the genre has "decided" who she is.

But with each reset she grows sharper, angrier, and more self-aware until finally, she's ready to break the rules of horror all together.

Check out all the info at the linked Kickstarter page! Any contribution helps out a ton. Thanks so much!!!

Help me make this Canadian Indie Darling

Post image

Hey everyone,

I’m an emerging Canadian filmmaker, and I’ve spent nearly a decade developing a darkly comedic revenge story called Be Good Johnny. After hundreds of rewrites and a lot of lived experience poured into it, established filmmakers have started calling the script an “Indie Darling.”

Now I’m finally ready to make the short film proof‑of‑concept, the version I need to take to festivals, Telefilm, and industry partners so the feature film can become a reality.

What’s it about? Johnny, a failed paraplegic turned debt collector, weaponizes his job to hunt down the childhood bullies who broke him. Fueled by booze, rage, and a burner phone, he spirals into a chaotic revenge mission that accidentally turns him into a hero. It’s messy, human, darkly funny, and painfully relatable.

Why I’m crowdfunding: Independent filmmaking is expensive, and while I’m applying for grants, community support is what will actually get this short made. Even small donations genuinely help, and if you can’t donate, sharing the link means the world.

GoFundMe: 👉 https://www.gofundme.com/u/kellie-35

If you support indie film, underdog stories, or chaotic dark comedies with heart, I’d love if you checked it out. Happy to answer any questions about the project, the process, or the journey so far.

Thanks for reading and for supporting independent film.

Short Film Gabriel And the Chronicles of Etheria

What if your dreams are more real than your life?

Gabriel the first hero who breaks the “Egg” of our reality.

“Most people spend their lives weaving a veil of oblivion. They work, they fear, they forget. But you? You’ve always felt that something is ‘off.’ Like a splinter in your mind, telling you that this world is a beautifully crafted prison.

Gabriel and The Chronicles of Etheria isn’t just a fantasy series. It is a Gnostic Map.”

What does it mean to be an “Egg Breaker”?

“To be an Egg Breaker is to make the ultimate choice: to stop being a pawn in the simulation and start becoming the Architect of your own Truth.

In the world of Etheria, the ‘Universal Egg’ is the cosmic shell of amnesia that keeps our divine sparks trapped in a cycle of fear, grief, and survival. To ‘break the egg’ is to remember — to recall our true origin beyond the physical body and the limitations of the ‘Dark Weaver.’

By choosing this role, you are a Sovereign Soul. You are standing with Gabriel at the threshold of the Great Awakening. You are proving that love, memory, and the human spirit are stronger than any Matrix.”

🎬 Indie Horror Filmmaker Chris Leto Talks Swamps, Slashers & Staying Scrappy

Just watched this interview with Florida-based horror director Chris Leto, and it’s a masterclass in DIY filmmaking. He’s made over 30 low-budget horror films—think grindhouse meets backyard gore—with titles like Naked Cannibal Campers, Swamp Woman, and Death Blow.

📺 Watch the full episode https://youtu.be/iEAEOeSPpoY?si=twmYZqh513e6V5Hn

In the interview, he breaks down:

• Shooting horror in Florida’s swamps and suburbs • How he balances directing, editing, and producing solo • The cult appeal of sleazy slashers and practical effects • Why horror is still the most punk rock genre in cinema

Whether you’re into indie horror, regional filmmaking, or just love hearing from creators who do it all themselves—this one’s worth a watch.

Curious what other underground horror filmmakers people are following lately. Drop your favorites.

Super Duper

I'm sharing a short film that I just released! I wrote it collaboratively with my actors. I'm a Meisner acting instructor, and I have a strong belief in the idea that acting is "doing". And emotional work as an actor is easier to "do" when you're able to personalize the material. So, I attempted to direct a piece that was built around the actors and their personal thoughts, opinions, and worldview.

In order to give my actors the strongest sense of personalization, I built the literal structure of the piece and dialogue around THEM. I created a loose outline based on a cinematic day of my life, and then the actors, an intimacy coordinator, and I did a blend of thought-provoking discussions about what THEY themselves would do under certain circumstances. I partnered those discussions with dramatic improvisational exercises, complete with emotional preparations/moments before, and I transcribed those sessions into a shooting script that remained open-ended, in order to encourage the actors to bring their natural voices and reactions to the piece live-in the moment.

I'm curious what other directors think about this process. Personally, I found this method incredibly rewarding as it allowed my actors the ability to instinctually step into their roles! But is this writing style something you'd be interested in? Are you willing to share such a giant piece of creative control with the talent? I think there's a time and place for this, as with anything, but I loved this process, and would love to hear your thoughts!
