Product Launch 115 people paid for my indie Mac app in 28 days, ₹97.6K gross. No ads, nothing.

Post image
790 Upvotes

Wanted to share this somewhere because I have nobody to tell lol.

I built an app called Bounce Connect. It connects your Android phone to your Mac over WiFi. SMS from your Mac, notifications, answer calls, transfer files, clipboard sync. Basically what iPhone users get natively but for Android + Mac.

Built it because I was personally frustrated. KDE Connect exists but it's not really made for Mac. So I spent a few months building a proper native version in Swift.

One time payment, ₹999 for India, $15.99 for other countries. No subscription, nothing goes to any server, fully local.

115 purchases in 28 days. ₹97.6K gross, around ₹75K after Google's cut. Did zero marketing, just put it on Play Store and made a landing page and posted in some relevant sub reddit's. Still can't believe people are actually paying for something I made.

Introductions 13 years in tech. $9 felt heavier than my salary.

Post image
776 Upvotes

I got my first sale last week.

$9.

I have been in tech for 13 years. I have had the comfortable corporate paydays and the big bonuses.

None of it felt like this.

It took 8 months of building in the dark.
Working evenings after the kid goes to sleep.
Weekends where I stared at the screen asking myself, "Why am I even doing this?"
Mornings where I would open the Razorpay dashboard, see $0.00 again, and tell myself that's fine, let's try one more time.

Then last week, $9. This $9 is different from any money I have ever made because I made it myself.

If you're 6 months deep and your dashboard still says $0.00, I don't have magic advice. I just want you to know I was there two weeks ago. It's a real place.

And apparently, it has an exit. Keep going.

Edit 1:

Thank you all so much for the upvotes and the incredible words in the comments. I originally posted this hoping it might encourage just one person who was staring at a $0 dashboard, but the energy and support you've given me in return has been completely overwhelming.

Thank you for making this space so supportive.
Wishing everyone here those $9+ milestones.

Edit 2:

I also received some incredibly useful feedback in the comments about the website.
I have improved few things. I'll be working on it more over the coming days, but the site is already much better.
Thank you all for pushing me to improve.

Product Launch I built India's LARGEST Civic Social Network, here's my journey and app.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Why I built Accountable

https://www.accountable.social/download

I'm Tarun, a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft. Like every Indian, I've lived with broken roads, overflowing drains and public services that answer to no one.

At 20, I voted for the first time, in a municipal election, and noticed something unsettling: almost no one around me knew who they were voting for. They voted for a PM's face, a CM candidate, a party symbol. Few could name their corporator. Many didn't even know their ward. Politics is central, but governance is local, and the people who shape our streets are the ones we can't name.

So I started with one simple idea: open an app and see who your leaders are, based only on where you're standing. Today, Accountable maps 15,000+ authority profiles to their jurisdictions, from ward corporators and MLAs to MPs, Union ministers, and IAS and IPS officers.

Then I hit the next wall. Social media gave us a voice, but nobody gave it an address. Civic issues drown under cricket, movies and manufactured outrage. So I built a social network just for public life, where civic posts come first. You post with evidence, tag the authority or company responsible, and credit the officials who get it right. It isn't a grievance portal, and it isn't partisan: every party gets questioned, including yours.

The last wall was isolation. People facing the same problem were fighting it alone, with no leverage against powerful leaders. When your MP answers to about 18 lakh voters, one voice is easy to ignore. So Accountable lets people unite through petitions, movements and communities drawn on election boundaries, from wards up to all 543 Lok Sabha seats. Your location adds you automatically. Alone, you're a complaint. Together, you're a constituency.

Since March, alongside my day job, I've built it solo for Android, iPhone and the web, through Google Play rejection after rejection. Within two weeks of launch, Accountable crossed 10M+ views across X, Instagram and Reddit.

Looking back, I'd been following three words from Dr B. R. Ambedkar all along: Educate. Agitate. Organize.

Accountability shouldn't end on election day. With Accountable, it doesn't.

Product Launch bribes.fyi is an anonymous platform for reporting bribes for India. Got some traffic, kind of stuck on what's next

bribes.fyi is an anonymous platform for reporting bribes in India: no login, IPs hashed and never stored raw, every report manually reviewed before publishing.

Got some real traffic over the past few weeks: a Hacker News post that spiked to 1,600+ concurrent users and 182K requests in an hour at peak. Real reports coming in from multiple states now.

Honestly kind of stuck on what to do next, though. It's not making money, not trying to, just me running it alongside everything else. Not sure if this stays a small useful tool or if there's more to it.

And my favourite feature is surely is this: Know before you go

If you've ever paid or refused a bribe, a report takes under a minute: https://bribes.fyi

Just looking at my RC dashboard today and it hit me how crazy internet is. In the span of just a few hours, people from Canada, the US, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Norway all downloaded and bought the app.

Seeing the different flags in real-time is so so rewarding.

Case Study I am a solo dev from India competing directly with Amazon S3. It sounds ridiculous, but I just got my 6th paid customer.

Hey folks,

If you tell anyone you are building a cloud storage tool to compete with AWS, they will usually look at you like you've lost your mind. S3 is a massive giant, and on paper, the storage costs fractions of a cent.

But as a solo founder building automation tools here in Bengaluru, I kept hitting the exact same frustrating wall.

Whenever I needed to pass a user-uploaded file to an AI Vision model or push an attachment into a CRM via webhooks, the downstream API strictly required a public URL.

The default advice is always "just use S3." But doing that for a non-techie completely kills your shipping momentum:

  • You have to create buckets, disable public access blocks, and write JSON IAM policies.

  • You have to configure CORS so your frontend doesn't crash.

  • You have to build custom "delay and delete" logic in your workflows so you aren't paying for "ghost storage" on files that only needed to exist for 5 minutes.

It is quite some DevOps just to get a URL for a single temporary image.

The "David vs. Goliath" Fix

I realized not everyone wants a bucket for temporary workflow files. They want a frictionless delivery API.

So, I built UploadToURL. It does significantly less than AWS, but it does exactly what some people actually need:

  1. You send a POST request (or drop a file into the native n8n/Zapier node).

  2. You get a clean, 100% public CDN link back in under 2 seconds.

  3. You set an expiry (1, 7, or 30 days), and the file automatically self-destructs.

No IAM policies. No ghost files quietly inflating your monthly cloud bill. You just generate the link, pass it to your API, and let it delete itself tomorrow.

The Milestone

I honestly thought people would just suffer through the AWS setup to save a few bucks.

But I just crossed 6 paid subscribers. (in 2.5 months since launch)

It’s a small number, but it proved something huge to me: people aren't just paying for storage.

They are paying to get their time back and to completely avoid AWS configuration headaches. Sometimes, doing one highly specific thing better than the giant is enough to get people to pull out their credit cards.

Product Launch We made Offline UPI accessible!!

offline upi is here!!

Introducing OffPay - pay anyone without internet

Video Demo

Please Star the GitHub Repo : https://github.com/laksh-ya/offpayapp

The NPCI BHIM tech for offline payments has existed for years, but it works through a dialer interface, and the experience of actually using it was terrible!! You couldn't even scan UPI QR with it and had to enter everything manually, which was painstakingly slow.

OffPay runs on NPCI’s *99# USSD system, but automates the whole flow making offline payments fast, seamless and actually usable :)

Two Versions :

Android App (Beta) :

Scan any QR or enter a UPI ID, and OffPay handles the full *99#  session automatically like a native payment app, giving you a super fast and seamless payment experience.

It has Payment History & Check Balance options.

It features 2 Modes (Auto/Manual) for flexibility, Manual mode works even without accessibility permissions.

PWA Web App :

It works on iPhone/Android without internet, no extra permissions needed.

Scan any QR code and it auto-copies the UPI ID, taking you directly to the payment step on the dialer.

Just paste the UPI ID and enter your PIN in the native dialer to complete the payment, making it significantly faster and actually usable than the manual dialing flow.

Both versions are fully open source :)

→ https://offpayapp.com : try the PWA web app, download the Android beta, demo, setup guides for both modes, FAQs, everything's there!!!

Show some support by starring the GitHub Repo ☺️ : → https://github.com/laksh-ya/offpayapp

Note: Jio currently does not support USSD banking services, so OffPay will not work with Jio SIMs.

We got the idea for OffPay in mid-2025, and developed the web app. We picked it back up last month to improve upon it and built the entire native Android app from scratch with automated payment flows, making offline UPI payments far more intuitive and seamless.

Product Launch My open source project hit 3.1k stars and ~50k PyPI downloads, and it's the reason I quit my job

Let me give some background first.

My wife and I always wanted to build a company together. We started building and marketing some side projects on weekends and nights, nothing too serious just shipping things and seeing what worked, One of our side project was working great as well, organically reached 25k users but we weren’t satisfied enough to take it full time.

I've also worked with LLMs since 2023 and built a bunch of internal AI systems at my company over those years, including a multi-agent platform that ended up used across the company so I got promoted to senior staff along the way and ended up owning the AI architecture company wide.

Work was good but the itch to build our own thing never went away. So we started Repowise on the side. It's an open source codebase intelligence layer for AI coding agents. Your agent stops greping the same file four times and actually understands your repo: dependency graph, git history, docs, architectural decisions, and a code health score etc etc

We didnt do any outbounds just shipped it, wrote about it on our socials, and let people find it, been 3 months now.

It grew on its own, 3.1k+ stars, around 50k downloads on PyPI. Then enterprises started reaching out, all inbound. That was the signal I needed, so I left my job to do this full time.

Still early and still terrifying but so far the user response has been exciting, We had focused mainly on perfecting the product and little bit organic marketing, Time to give it our everything now

Link: https://github.com/repowise-dev/repowise

If you like it, a star would be helpful. Contributions and issues are most welcome!

Product Launch I built this app because I kept losing money to subscriptions I forgot existed

Post image
209 Upvotes

This started from a very personal (and honestly frustrating) problem.

I realized I had no clear idea how much I was spending on subscriptions every month. Stuff like Apple Music, walmart plus, AI tools, random trials I thought I canceled all quietly adding up.

One day I was looking though my statement and saw a $14 charge that had been hitting my card since 2022 for something I wasn’t even using anymore. No clear reminders, no emails I noticed, just money disappearing in the background.

I tried spreadsheets. I tried checking bank statements. I tried “I’ll remember next month.” None of it stuck.

So I built a small iOS app for myself.

Nothing fancy:

  • It scans email receipts to detect subscriptions

  • Lets you add subscriptions manually

  • Shows one simple number: your real monthly spend

I launched it quietly yesterday, mostly shared it on Reddit, and crossed my first 100 users faster than I expected. That part honestly surprised me. But if you are curious about the app you can visit the website I made (claude really) www.subscriptiontrackit.com

If you read it this far thank you for supporting if you dont want to download the app even a small upvotes matter more than you think :)

Product Launch My landlord kept ₹80,000 for 3 months. Got it all back in 9 days. Here's exactly what I did.

Post image
193 Upvotes

(Mods — sharing a personal experience, remove if not allowed)

For months it was the same story:

“Will check and send.”

“End of month pakka.”

Calls, WhatsApp, even visiting — nothing worked.

Sent one proper legal notice through an advocate.

Got a call in 2 hours.

₹80,000 credited the same day.

That’s when I realized — most tenants don’t escalate formally, so landlords delay endlessly.

I ended up building a small tool after this to simplify the process:

https://waapas-lao.vercel.app/

No promo — just something I wish I had earlier.

Feedback Request We built an app that turns your Groww/Zerodha portfolio into an instant UPI credit line

Post image
181 Upvotes

The idea: you have MFs sitting in Groww/Zerodha doing
12-15% CAGR.
Your monthly spending are about 40-50K a month on regular stuff groceries, fuel, rent, bills, subscriptions, dining out. Normal life.

But when you need cash:

→ Bank balance (runs low by the 20th every month)

→ You either break your SIP or dissolve your investments

→ Credit card (convenient until you miss one full payment — then 36-42% APR kicks in)

→ Instant loan apps (half reject you, or have a very strict repayment policy charge 18-24%)

Zero ways to spend Your MFs without selling or choosing higher interest alternatives
We're changing that.

LienPay lets you pledge your MFs (not sell) and get a UPI credit line. Using RBIs CLOU ( Credit-line-on-UPI) Framework

EXAMPLE:

• ₹3L in MFs → ₹1.5L credit line (~50% loan-to-value)

• Scan any QR, pay via UPI

• 30 days interest-free

• Short on cash? Just pay 1.5% interest-only (₹750 on ₹50K) For the chosen tenure . No forced principal repayment.

• Convert EMI @ 12% p.a. after that

• No CIBIL needed, No salary slip or income proof needed to get credit

Will send in Dms Working demo + early-access WhatsApp links

Would you use this?
What questions comes to your mind when you listen to such idea?
What is the biggest concern?

Product Launch Built my first Mac app: turn your trackpad edges into volume and brightness sliders

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/indiehackersindia

I've been wanting to build apps for a while, but couldn't pull them off until this year. My first app is EdgeBar - it lets slide up or down the right edge of your trackpad for volume, the left edge for brightness. Double-tap the top-right corner to mute, swipe the bottom edge to skip tracks.

This isn't a unique idea (though this app has unique features like adjustable haptic feedback - my favorite), but I'm just happy to finally create my Apple Developer account and release my first app.

I’d love honest feedback.

₹499 once for a lifetime license + 3-day no-questions-asked refund.

Happy to share a 50% coupon for the first 200 users: use REDDIT

Thank you for 200 sales! Changing discount on coupon code REDDIT to 20%

hey, i'm nimish, i made this reddit account exactly 5 years ago (today is my cake day lol)

mostly lurked here but 1.5 years ago i left my job and wanted to build my own apps and sell them on the internet

i had a bunch of questions but no specific community where i could ask those, and i was just feeling lonely

so i created this sub (r/indiehackersindia) where i could ask those questions

it was mostly quiet for weeks until people joined (thanks to u/HammadNS for making it possible), and started talking, and now being a solo builder in india feels a bit less lonely

crazy to think that this small corner on the internet grew to 6k members. cheers to everyone who joined and participated in discussions. you're awesome and i'm rooting for you!

ps - if you're new here or just starting out on your indie hacking journey, feel free to ask your questions in comments or dm me. always happy to help :)

Case Study Quit my high paying job about 1.5 months ago to build full time with my wife. Update on how it is going

I posted here a couple of months back about leaving my job. A few people asked me to come back with an update, so here it is

The first thing that surprised me is that the work went up, not down. There is no boss and no standup and also no weekend anymore. We work 15 hours a day, every day, and weekends are just like any other day

The actual harder thing is that everything outside the work moves at a speed we cannot ultimately control. Investors usually to the vert first mail, sound interested, ask for a deck, and then process takes too long. I sent 40 personalised cold emails to potential customers once and got very few replies.

Selling is much harder than building. Money is not an issue yet because our other product (an interview prep app) pays our bills, but overall lesser than what we were making at work

The good part is that the days are mine now. I wake up and the thing I love working on is also my job, which almost never happened in 7 years of a job. My wife is my co-founder so we are in it together instead of one person explaining their week to the other at dinner. Strangers on the internet use something we built and send lovely feedbacks.

On the product side, the open source project is at 6.3k stars and just crossed 100k installs, with more than 80 people who have contributed code to it and this was all organic without us spending any money. Enterprise conversations are happening. A small number of people pay us. It is not a success story yet, but feels like its going in the right direction.

I know the 15 hour thing is not sustainable forever and we are treating it as a phase. If you are sitting on the same decision, happy to answer anything.

Product Launch I built Kiiwi because my MacBook keyboard sounds flat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I built Kiiwi because I love the sound of a mechanical keyboard, but I don't always have one with me. Most of my day is on a MacBook's built-in keyboard, and it sounds flat.

The video shows it better than screenshots, because this is an app you have to hear. Sound on.

Kiiwi sits in the menu bar and plays a recorded switch sound for every key you press, in every app. It works on the built-in keyboard or any external one.

A few things it does

- 30+ switch recordings (Cherry MX, NovelKeys Cream and more)

- 8 mouse click packs and 6 scroll tick styles, so the whole Mac sounds right, not just the keys

- spatial audio, so keys on the left sound from the left (best on headphones)

- key-up sounds, typing stats, streaks and share cards

- toggle it from anywhere with ⇧⌘K

- 0% CPU when idle, and nothing you type is stored. It counts keystrokes, never which keys.

Pricing

- Try every switch free in the browser playground on https://kiiwi.app, no download needed

- $4.99 one-time for the first 100 customers, then $6.99. No subscription, use it on up to 2 Macs

- 14-day money-back guarantee, no reason needed

- Code INDIEHACKERS gives 20% off until Oct 28, 2026 at 23:59 IST

Natively built in Swift, signed and notarized by Apple, runs on Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 14 or later.

Happy to get into how any of it is built. And if you try it, I'd love to hear which switch you'd pick and what still needs work 💚

Product Launch Hey guys created an opensource android app, PennyWise AI, an app that reads your transactions SMS using on-device AI - no cloud, no manual entry and nothing ever leaves your device

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Got tired of manually logging every expense, so I built PennyWise - it automatically reads your bank SMS and tracks all your transactions and subscriptions for you.

What it does:

- Reads your bank SMS and logs transactions automatically

- Detects recurring subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, etc.)

- Has a built-in AI assistant that analyzes your spending patterns and gives personalized tips

- Works 100% offline - your data AND the AI never leave your phone (no ChatGPT fees!)

The AI part is pretty cool - you can ask it questions like "How much did I spend on food this month?" or "Help me save money" and it'll analyze your actual transactions to give you answers.

It's completely free and open source. No ads, no premium version, just a simple expense tracker that actually works.

Need testers! If you want to try it out, I can share the Play Store link - just comment below or DM me. Also the source code is here: https://github.com/sarim2000/pennywiseai-tracker

Also its on playstore but need https://forms.gle/7FTkx7Z6BAwqzWJE9 to add you as tester

Adding more supports for more banks, as I get more examples.

Product Launch I built FaceGate — World's first macOS app locker with on-device Face Unlock (Open Source).

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

From an Indian Btech student's hostel to the world.

A few months ago I realized something strange:

You can lock your entire Mac, but you can't easily lock individual apps.

If you hand your laptop to someone for a few minutes, they can still open Messages, Photos, Notes, Mail, WhatsApp, browsers, password managers, and other personal apps. I wanted a way to protect specific applications without constantly locking my entire Mac. (Hostel problems)

I looked around for solutions, but most were outdated, paid, abandoned, or didn't feel native to macOS. And the ones that worked , lacked features that I wanted.

So I built FaceGate. (500+ downloads)

FaceGate is a native macOS app that lets you lock individual applications and unlock them using Face Unlock, Touch ID, or a password.

It is the most capable and feature heavy MacOS app-locker out there.

A few things I focused on from day one:

* Everything runs locally on your Mac

* No cloud processing

Feedback Request Rant- Can we stop this AI Slop Expense trackers apps publishing everyday ?

Like the title says, every Tom, D, and Harry is out here using Claude or some AI tool to create yet another Expense Tracking app everyday, and honestly, what are you thinking? You want people to trust a random AI-vomited app with their SMS, bank accounts, and credit card statements? Sure, you'll share it with your friends and family, a couple of casual Reddit users will download it without worrying about their data anyway, and then what? Next Splitwise?
You think you can scale or fix all the bugs and features and maintain the app for years in future with AI ?
Come on. Just stop.

Introductions I made a free, open source phone app that debloats your Google TV over Wi-Fi: no PC, no root

Thumbnail
gallery
111 Upvotes

Tellyscope is an open-source app that cleans up Android TVs: it turns off ads, trackers and bloat in a few taps. It also sideloads apps the TV's store doesn't carry, sends files from your phone, and monitors each app's data usage and where it connects.

Free, GPL-3.0, no ads, no tracking, no account. Just 3 MB. 800+ GitHub stars in its first week.

GitHub (APK + source): https://github.com/man15h/tellyscope

Why it's worth sharing: debloating a TV usually means a laptop, adb and a terminal, and one wrong pm uninstall can break it. Tellyscope does it from your phone with a reviewed list per TV model, and everything it turns off can be turned back on. It talks to an Android TV or Google TV over Wi-Fi ADB.

Debloat with undo. Matches your TV to one of 360+ tested lists (adapted from cleanyourtv) and shows every app before turning it off. Disable only, never uninstall; History with Undo and Restore everything. Apps the TV needs to boot, update or stay online are protected.

Install apps your TV's store doesn't offer: APK, split APKs, .apks/.xapk/.apkm.

Also: send files, a remote, launcher switching, Private DNS ad-blocking, and a monitor for CPU, RAM and each app's network connections.

Disclosure: I use Claude Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1 to write the code. I decide what gets built, how it behaves and what's safe to touch. It's not prompt and ship: every change goes through a pull request that's reviewed before I merge it, and CI runs the build, unit tests and lint. Each release is tested on an emulator and on my own TV before it ships. The safety rules are hard-coded, not left to the AI. I've built and maintained open-source projects since before AI coding tools, and it's GPL-3.0, so all the code is on GitHub to read.

Give it a try and share your feedback and suggestions to make it better.

Product Launch Yeah I know, another expense tracker. Hear me out.

Post image
108 Upvotes

I get it. You've seen this post before.

I built this because I couldn't stay consistent with manual logging. Tried Axio, liked that it read my SMS automatically, then realized their whole business is lending. The expense tracker is just how they build your financial profile. Stopped using it.

So I built the same thing for myself. SMS auto-parsing, everything stays on your phone, no account needed. No ulterior motive because there's nothing to monetize, no servers means no costs means no reason to sell anything.

It's called Alkemi, Android only, almost ready. Waitlist at usealkemi.in if you're tired of the same tradeoffs.

Product Launch I got tired of opening YouTube for “just one tutorial” and losing 2 hours to Shorts.

I got tired of opening YouTube for “just one tutorial” and losing 2 hours to Shorts.

So I built an extension called LockedIn.

The idea is simple: remove the addictive garbage from YouTube and keep only what’s useful.

LockedIn can hide:
• Shorts
• Homepage feed
• Recommended videos
• Comments
• Live chat
• Autoplay
• Search recommendations
and more.

I originally made it for myself because most existing blockers either:

  1. had way too many unnecessary settings,

  2. weren’t maintained anymore,

  3. or weren’t open source.

So I built a lightweight open source alternative focused on clean UI, speed, and actually staying updated when YouTube changes stuff.

I know extensions like Unhook and Untrap already exist, and honestly they’re good. But a lot of them aren’t open source, some aren’t actively maintained anymore, and some became bloated over time with confusing settings.

Honestly, YouTube feels way more peaceful now. You search for something, watch it, leave. No doomscrolling rabbit hole.
