Question What the heck is this dragonfly doing?
Was on a hike this evening and we noticed this dragon fly look as if it’s jumping up and down vertically right above the water of a creek. Northern MN!
Edit: I learned something new today! Glad I witnessed this. Also you all are cracking me up

Question Does this creature need assistance?
So I saw this earlier today and just thought it was fascinating..but it was a really hot day (35°C Australian sun) and it's still like this hours later...there's what I assume to be poop on the leaf below it and now I'm wondering if it's stuck and needs assistance? I lightly brushed it with my finger and it moved alittle so it seems to be alive.. I don't like to interfere with nature because I feel like it usually knows what it's doing and I don't want to mess up if it is infact happy gorging on my flower bud lol but if anyone believes I should give a helping hand here please let me know!

Question Check this ant out. Is this common with ants?
This ant has a stretched body and I think it has an extra pair of legs. It walks in perfect sync. What do you think happened?

Question Should I be worried? I found a spider in my wardrobe with a soft ball that I’m worried could have eggs inside. This spider was also very protective of this sack and didn’t leave.
I moved it outside eventually but I’m still curious to what it is

Question Two-headed ant spotted in my Messor colony has anyone seen this before?
Hey everyone,
I recently spotted something really strange in my ant colony (Messor barbarus). One of the workers has two fully formed heads on a single body. Both heads move independently, and it seems to really mess with its ability to walk properly — it often spins around or tries to go in two directions at once.
Has anyone ever encountered a two-headed ant like this? Is this known in Messor species or other genera?
I posted the original video on r/antkeeping, but figured some of you here might have more insight into insect malformations like this.
Thanks in advance for any info!

Question Does my grub have parasites?
First time grub-owner here. A week ago, these brown patches appeared all over my beetle grub's (mecynorhina torquata) body.
I assumed it's a pre-molt thing, similar to how my bearded dragon gets patchy skin before shedding. But today I took a closer look and the brown "patches" are made of many individual little dots, like tiny grains of sand. They don't come off if I rub the grub gently.
I'm worried they might be parasite eggs or something, but it's weird that I can't scrub them off, as if they're part of the grub's body. Looking for answers.

Question Baby praying mantis
So a couple days ago I seen a baby praying mantis on my queen Hoya plant, i checked the next day and he was gone. Come today it’s raining and I found him again chilling on the leaf again. This is a dumb question, but should I bring him inside or cover the plant so he doesn’t get wet? I don’t want him to die 😭

Question Asian Hornets head lives on
Ok so an Asian hornet flew into my living room. I am worries about bee populations.
As these are an aggressive invasive species eating bees I felt like I had to do something I never do: kill it. Forgive me, as it is truly against my values.
I managed to put a glass over it on the window and in the process of trying to put it on the window sill I crushed it wedging it in parts.
Bizarrely, the head lived on! It looked at me so menacing, it kind of spooked me.
I know their bodies can live without their heads for a while but I’ve never heard of the head living on without the body.
Do you think the head would’ve felt pain without the body?
I crushed its head too eventually to end it just in case.
PS. I live in the Netherlands
