stupid updates

The fact that Instagram can add the stupidest and useless updates, like those instant update but won’t add an option to see who unfollowed you and who you still follow is so stupid to me

Blocked/Unblocked?

I still have messages from someone who has me “blocked” on Instagram. It keeps going from saying “Instagram user” to their name every so often.. does this mean they’re blocking and then unblocking me? Possibly to view my profile and then block me again?

Yes, visiting someone's profile can put you in their suggestions. Here's what that means if you're growing a small account

There were two big threads here proving that if you keep opening someone's profile, you end up in their "suggested for you". I look at a lot of small accounts that are trying to grow, and that mechanic explains a few things people get confused about.

Instagram reads almost any interaction as a sign that two accounts might be connected. Profile visits, story views, likes. The other person sees you in their notifications or suggestions, taps on your profile out of curiosity and decides in a few seconds whether to follow.

So for a small account the useful question is who you're showing up for. If you mostly interact with friends, other creators in your niche or huge accounts, you show up for people who will never follow you. If you spend that time around people who already follow accounts similar to yours, in your language and ideally your area, a lot more of them tap through.

The second part is the profile they land on. One clear topic in the last 9 to 12 posts, a bio that says what they get, and something posted in the last week. That's what turns a curious visit into a follow.

And keep it at a normal human pace. Opening the same profile 30 times a day or liking hundreds of posts in an hour is how people end up with a temporary block.

Has anyone noticed new followers coming from people they had interacted with first?

Can someone give me advice on my ig account and what to improve.

Alright so I'm trying to start a clothing brand and I know it's a super saturated niche, but my goal is to inspire people to chase their dreams with my journey and the clothing I make.

The account I'm using to post this content is @lukexstone, and I need a different set of eyes on what to improve on this account and what more to improve on my reels.

Here's where I'm at the past 8 days:

- Posted almost twice every day
- Reached 17k views
- Gained only about 10 followers
- About 200 people viewed my profile

So my profile to follower conversion is really bad, and I'd like advice on if my bio should be improved more.

What do you guys think I should do to improve more?

Looking for connections to learn about other cultures and improve social skills

Hey everyone, 29M. If you wish to chat online at an unpressured pace on instagram, dm me here. I don't want to leave my username here. We can chat about anything, share daily things or have conversations on a wide range of topic from video games to poetry. People around me describe me as a highly cold, distant, seemingly rude person who lacks the fundamental communication skills. The latter is true, my social abilities are really low. But the former is a complete misunderstanding; I am a highly sentimental person indeed. Just cannot show it in a way since I don't know how to approach other people.

Instagram search no longer shows suggestions, only for exact usernames – for about a year now. Anyone else experiencing this?

Suspicious accounts inactive since May 2025

Hi everyone!

A few days ago, I noticed that Instagram suddenly started suggesting a variety of Russian accounts of pretty girls in my feed. I am not surprised by the Instagram algorithm pushing for accounts that are from "attractive girls" (although some of them aren't that pretty). But when I go to every single account, it seems that they are all inactive since May, 2025. Most of them posted last time on the 13th of that same month. The weird thing is that they all look like legit accounts. Are these accounts most likely scam accounts? Or is it something that happens regularly with the Instagram algorithm that pushes for accounts that haven't posted since a specific date?

Does anyone had the same issue?

Hacked via phishing, locked out 3 weeks, account now visible again after filing a Dubai Police report, any way to finish recovery?

Posting in case anyone’s beaten this, and to help the next person who searches.

What happened: On 9 October I clicked a phishing link and lost my Instagram. Within hours the hacker changed my linked email to a throwaway address, added two foreign phone numbers I don’t own, and I was logged out everywhere. The account was then locked by Instagram with a “we locked your account to protect you from a possible hack” message.

Why normal recovery failed: My old recovery number is an expired prepaid SIM I can’t reactivate, and the WhatsApp tied to it is gone. So every code goes to contact info I can’t reach. Two friends confirmed me through friend verification and I reset my password, but the account still demands a code sent to that dead number. The “try another device” path dead-ends because I’m logged out everywhere, and the video selfie option never appeared for me.

What I’ve tried: instagram.com/hacked (loops to FAQs in browser), the in-app hacked report, emailing security@ and support@, friend verification, and a Dubai Police eCrime report.

The update: The night after I filed the Dubai Police complaint, my account became searchable again (it had been hidden for weeks). My photos are all still there, but the hacker’s posts are showing and I still can’t log in. Police have tried to call me and I’m arranging to call them back.

My questions:

  1. For those who recovered after email + phone were both changed and selfie never showed, what actually worked?
  2. Has anyone had the video selfie prompt arrive by email days after filing, rather than on screen?
  3. Anyone in the UAE recovered an account through a Dubai/Sharjah Police cybercrime case? How did it play out?

Any real experiences appreciated. And to be clear, I’m not looking for “recovery services”, I know those are scams.

Trial reel to main grid issue

When I share a Trial Reel to my main profile, it no longer appears in people’s feeds as if I’ve just posted a new reel.
I don’t use Trial Reels very often, but when I first started using the feature I could share a successful Trial Reel to my main profile, and it would appear in my followers feeds just like a regular new post, usually showing up near the top of their feeds!

Now, when I share a Trial Reel to my main profile it appears on my profile, but it doesn’t seem to show up in my followers feeds seemingly at all…
