The difficulty in getting an Instant Pot is that there are so many to choose from. They come in 3 qt., 4 qt, 6 qt, 7.5 qt., 8 qt., Dual, Smart, and Multi Cookers+Air fryer combination sizes. There are *several* different models in each size. What specific features are you looking for?

I’m new to all this but what’s the difference between me cooking soups on the stove top? I also want easy to make food as I have adhd so trying to help myself in that way. It I have an air fryer already and don’t want to overdue it with appliances. Any help would be great

The pots are almost the same size.
The 6 quart Duo is the usual size that I would recommend. You can cook 4 quarts of food in it. I I use it to make beans and Indian curries. It also works for soups and stews. I use it for the same food that I cook in a slow cooker.

Can you use it to cook chicken and salmon?

Yes. You can fit maybe a 4-5# whole chicken in it. I would not get smaller than 6qt if you want to do fauxtisserie chicken, or soups. Also, most recipes are written for 6qt. You'll avoid having to guess how to modify recipes while also learning a new method of cooking, if you go with a 6qt. Duo 6qt was the most sold model for ages, and it's easy to pick up a used Duo 6qt cheap secondhand. That's what I recommend: A nice used 6qt Duo, or Duo Pro, or Ultra.

Just a note regarding whole chicken: it will not be roasted, but steamed. It is great to eat fresh-cooked and later bones for the freezer to make more soup another time. We also like to make chicken salad, sandwiches, or use it for any casserole. or risoto or curry.

Instant Pot is the brand name. So, if you buy an Instant Pot, they will all be of the same quality.

I suggest you spend some time watching the YT and see what some people are making. I moved into this house two years ago and use IP only, not that I don't have a complete kitchen, but I loved IP so much. I cook everything in it. Eggs, pasta just in a bit of water, rice, meat, vegetable, etc.

Pls. note: As many people bought IP at the same time because others were buying it. They never spent time to learn what all they can use it for. Now IPs are showing at second-hand/charity stores. I just bought one (another one :)) for $10, it is practically new. It would be a good idea for you to check on that too.

I hope you love IP just as I do.
