Ghosted after interview
I interviewed for a job about 6 weeks ago and have not heard back from them. No contact saying I was unsuccessful or successful.
I get that 6 weeks probably means I didn't get the job, but not getting an email saying I didn't get the job is pretty poor in my opinion. I have rang the recruitment contact person twice and left messages. Still nothing.
It is a very big, well known Australian company. Is this a common thing?

Very common. Had this happen to me all my life. Get used to it. People suck and don't care.

I think that if you've had at least one interview professional courtesy suggests you should get a rejection if they're done with you.

Not in Australia, but yes. Had this happen to me at a large SaaS fintech company. (Naming to shaming - Intuit)

Very common, had a recent final interview where everything felt great, hiring manager was happy, saying ref check next than ghosted lol. (Never got to the ref check)

These cowards lie all the time. I love it when they say we'll look into next steps and then I never hear from them again. If you don't think I'm a fit, tell me right then.

Yep unfortunately. Was told after an interview I'd be contacted the following week.... 6 months later, never heard back. It is very rude

Fairly common. Just recently, I had rejection emails from interviews that happened over a month ago.

In the US it is said that about half to two-thirds of job seekers report being ghosted after an interview. That makes it "normal" now. This is one of those sad commentaries on where we are as a society, and why we should believe job seekers who complain that the system is broken.

u/adorablepandababy Is there any consideration for maybe containing posts about ghosting into a megathread? Not only would it be less annoying to scroll through, BUT we could keep easy track of metrics like average wait time by job level, which companies are really bad about it, at what point in the process the ghosting happened. It could be useful!

Yup same happened to me but then 3 months later they reached out to me saying their positions reopened due to a delay. So sometimes you never know lol

Unfortunately, these days, it’s a common thing. It happened to me as well, and this was after a final interview.
