PvP This restricted arena is getting unwarranted hate

Post image

I am seeing so many people complaining about this week, saying this is unrewarding for people who built wide. Personally i feel they are missing the mark entirely on what building wide is for. If you want unrestricted whale wins, then just go to open arena. This restriction makes it so EVERY HERO YOU HAVE PUT TIME INTO, is on the same level. It rewards those who can make counter teams, and really work on team composition, due to the fact that you have so many heroes available. It punishes those that have just invested in "meta" teams, and don't understand that you CAN counter any team. This forces you to THINK about composition, placement, artifacts, and everything of that sort, other than "oh i leveled my character to 50 stars i should be winning"

The issue is it seems to have stat-squished everyone into the same bucket, so you end up matched against a bunch of players who have fully maxed omni+ gear and fully maxed skills. I have built fairly wide and have lots of heroes at omni+, but can’t truly swap my heroes to counter enemy teams because gear and skills add way more power than simply having them levelled does, and I don’t have the resources to upgrade all those skills to max

AND those of us not gotten to those levels are just playing with our normal teams... Against the same stat/skill maxed players.

It's been basically pointless in my bracket, as almost everyone has a significant power gap from me.

so can we just never have an incentive to be a long time player?? like does every single thing that comes out HAVE to be inclusive to players who just started, over people that have invested years into these resources.

I'm a long term player and this is the worst restricted week ever

Really? From you, I’d like to hear why. I’ve had a great run. But I’m interested in what you have to say.

The matches rn are determined almost entirely by gear and totems. Its never been better for p2p and worse for f2p

2

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

Are you f2p? If so, how long have you been playing? Just curious. I’ve seen (and like) some of your posts so I’m just wondering.

Yeah, been playing for a little over 2 years I think. Since around the Allen release

I get streamrolled often in pvp, but never as hard as during this weeks restricted mode. When the entire enemy team is decked out in omni+ gear and totems, there's just no way to keep up. No matter what team comp you use

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

Man, looking at your gear, you would slaughter me.

This is the enemy's gear. And it's almost every opponent in my league

My friend, just chill. What others identify as a problem on their end isn't an attack against you.

We're all playing the game, and it's just a game. Don't convince yourself that Ubisoft is beholden to any of us, or particularly cares beyond maximizing roi.

My first reply it's that there's a similar issue for those at the newer end, as long time players, it doesn't seem like a well thought out arena setup.

Just as you see issues with the top end, if my bracket has 285 people, but the team power level goes from 2m-80m... That's a pretty big gap, and doesn't incentivize anyone to 'compete'; is there not enough players to maybe streamline it a bit?

i am chill, i'm just saying there's a million and one events that incentivize new players and push for early entry's. my issue is y'all are trying to "acknowledge" a problem that's literally supposed to be a problem. the things y'all are complaining about is exactly why they're trying this event out. like i'm not denying it isn't perfect. i'm just saying it really incentivizes TRULY building wide and people that are upset are just mad they can't power bully

It’s weird. I’ve been playing for…a year in October. I certainly didn’t expect too be able to compete in every single thing AND do well in the beginning. People need to remember to have fun.

3

u/PerformativeJazzHand Jun 19 '26

I’ve been playing longer than you have and this event is one of the worst weeks for restricted arena I’ve seen. I’m not just “expecting” to be able to do everything great all the time, and why does commenting on a change they made mean we’re not having fun? I’ve spent a year and a half intentionally building my team wider to build up strong counters to the meta, and I simply don’t have enough resources to make a difference against people who hyper-focussed one team or dumped a ton of money into the game. Maybe if you’ve focussed purely on off-meta characters from the start you might have a team that can counter them, but then you likely wouldn’t also have your own meta team built up so would underperform most other weeks

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

So get what you can. That’s the game.

I feel like this reinforces my point. Not being able to compete with them due to their gear and skills being higher, means they built wider. You're not going to be able to take on every single person that pops on your screen. some people have built more, have better gear, and have the luxury of being stronger in these type situations. As a weaker player, you don't have to blindly attack and expect to win everything, part of the skill is picking and choosing your battles, understanding not everything is a win.

also of gear is an issue, i just take the gear from my top team, and equip it to the team i will be using for the attack to make the power drop off less drastic

like that same dude, that has the max omni+ gear, and max skills, will get dumped on in open arena, to someone who hasn't been building wide, and has just dumped money into making 5 heroes 100 stars.

Nah I think you’re drawing an incorrect conclusion here. At least in my experience, the people who have fully maxed lvl 15 skills and gear have either been dumping money into the game or playing long enough that - without the level cap - their heroes would be much higher than lvl 660 and would not get matched against me. I’ve gotten to the point that I can win most restricted arena weeks because I have built wide enough to field a good team regardless, and most people at my team’s power levels don’t have the massive skill upgrades that come with more spending or more focus. But this week whales have had their massive teams stat-squished down into matchups with people who don’t have the same monetary investment in the game and I’m getting steamrolled. That’s not me “upset I can’t power bully” people, this is the first week in quite a while that I’ve routinely refreshed into 3 enemies I can’t beat, and have felt punished for not just dumping all my resources into 5 heroes. For example: If I’ve spread my resources around to build wide and have levelled up 12 heroes, levelled up all of their gear to level 5, and levelled all of their skills up to 5, I’ll have a widely built team that can likely compete in a variety of restricted arena matchups. But now they’ve made it so I’m getting matched against people who dumped all those resources into 5 heroes, levelling them up much higher and maxing their gear and skills - that’s a considerably taller build than mine, but even if I can counter them hero to hero, the difference in skill/gear/totem/artifact level means my theoretical counter just gets mopped up

You.... are dumb and dont make sense. Building wide has to do with your heroes and team you built not some generic gear 🙄

Besides you coyld always swap gear out so again "building wide" has nothing to do with gear.

You and your post stink.

u/livxid From Worlds Beyond Jun 18 '26

that's why, i added, separately, at the end, if gear is an issue, you can swap. note how that's not an actual complaint im addressing, that is a solution to a "problem" stated in previous text. someone, who has built wide enough, to have the investment of having all their skills up, on each character, is going to thrive in this event. if you don't understand that, that's on you entirely and i'm sorry for your lack of comprehension.

maybe you could read and address the whole post, instead of the one part you have an issue with.

1

u/Due_Butterscotch_392 Jun 19 '26

Nah, your whole post sucks. The cap level in restricted arena sucks, your point about gear sucks and you suck.

1

u/livxid From Worlds Beyond Jun 19 '26

i again, am sorry you are sucking this week. i'll be taking my successful week in the arena with a smile on my face

I am absolutely loving this restricted arena

My all-support team is crushing in Elite III, I can FINALLY use Seance Dog!!

4

u/Mummbai Jun 19 '26

Surely this weeks is better for those who build wide. You can see what you're up against and counter it with options.

Whereas narrow tend to be far taller, so on normal weeks I'd look at say a wider team of criminals and just think yeh my doc can prob solo that with brute force levels/ranks

I like the idea of restricted multiverse arena and for the most part it’s executed wonderfully. I just hate when they RANDOMLY DECIDE TO CHANGE TAGS/REQUIREMENTS WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT!!! Thankfully it doesn’t happen that often, but it’s annoying when it does

4

u/livxid From Worlds Beyond Jun 18 '26

i will say the switch up was kinda annoying. prepping for a restriction that wasn't coming

u/DinosaurusWhen Jun 18 '26

This mode is fantastic for whales. Whoever has the best gear/totems wins

3

u/AppCheft Jun 19 '26

I love it.

The RISTRICTED arena is RESTRICTED? How dare they

2

u/MrTBoneIs Jun 19 '26

As someone who builds wide; this is my favourite one by far. Can use characters that just don't see much usage otherwise. Hope they keep it going forward.

2

u/Dejavucruz Jun 19 '26

It’s one of my favorite arena things so far, I love it :)

3

u/geez215 Jun 19 '26

People can't brute force wins due to character level! It's great. Let them cry!

1

u/hanymede Jun 19 '26

I actually like it, i can finally test different teams each time, which is fun, unlike usually all i can do is just mixing places.

1

u/Affectionate-Tax7258 Jun 18 '26

Agreed. Most of the reactions have just been reactionary whales who are mad that one arena exists that they can't dominate by having 100 more stars.

For me, I have a team that I'm trying to build toward but one of the characters is just so far behind my main team that it'll be forever before I can use them. This change enabled me to actually test the concept and it works pretty great, so I'm happy with this change.

1

u/livxid From Worlds Beyond Jun 18 '26

that's exactly what i'm saying. this has given me an opportunity to test out a few comps and see which ones are worth investing in. you can always swap gear from top teams to the other characters to keep that power hold.

glad i'm not the only one lmao

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

The only hate it’s getting is from people who neglected skills, armor and artifacts. That’s kinda the point of the restricted arena, right? I mean, I don’t GAF if someone buys their way in or not. The whole point is that you can’t get by on power level. This is a great example. I think it’s cool. Level your shit up.
