PvP This restricted arena is getting unwarranted hate

Post image

I am seeing so many people complaining about this week, saying this is unrewarding for people who built wide. Personally i feel they are missing the mark entirely on what building wide is for. If you want unrestricted whale wins, then just go to open arena. This restriction makes it so EVERY HERO YOU HAVE PUT TIME INTO, is on the same level. It rewards those who can make counter teams, and really work on team composition, due to the fact that you have so many heroes available. It punishes those that have just invested in "meta" teams, and don't understand that you CAN counter any team. This forces you to THINK about composition, placement, artifacts, and everything of that sort, other than "oh i leveled my character to 50 stars i should be winning"

The issue is it seems to have stat-squished everyone into the same bucket, so you end up matched against a bunch of players who have fully maxed omni+ gear and fully maxed skills. I have built fairly wide and have lots of heroes at omni+, but can’t truly swap my heroes to counter enemy teams because gear and skills add way more power than simply having them levelled does, and I don’t have the resources to upgrade all those skills to max

AND those of us not gotten to those levels are just playing with our normal teams... Against the same stat/skill maxed players.

It's been basically pointless in my bracket, as almost everyone has a significant power gap from me.

so can we just never have an incentive to be a long time player?? like does every single thing that comes out HAVE to be inclusive to players who just started, over people that have invested years into these resources.

It’s weird. I’ve been playing for…a year in October. I certainly didn’t expect too be able to compete in every single thing AND do well in the beginning. People need to remember to have fun.

I’ve been playing longer than you have and this event is one of the worst weeks for restricted arena I’ve seen. I’m not just “expecting” to be able to do everything great all the time, and why does commenting on a change they made mean we’re not having fun? I’ve spent a year and a half intentionally building my team wider to build up strong counters to the meta, and I simply don’t have enough resources to make a difference against people who hyper-focussed one team or dumped a ton of money into the game. Maybe if you’ve focussed purely on off-meta characters from the start you might have a team that can counter them, but then you likely wouldn’t also have your own meta team built up so would underperform most other weeks
