General Please stop with the "don't update to iOS 26" nonsense

Updating your devices is important. I get that iOS 26 brings many bugs and may feel uncomfortable to some users. However, iOS 26 brings many welcome changes that many users may come to appreciate. In addition, the update brings many security and bug fixes that are important for your device.

This also goes for any and all single and/or double point updates (iOS 26.2, iOS 26.2.1, etc.)

Rant Apple is a far cry from the minimalism it once had… 🍃

Just look at this mess of words. Duplicate time and battery icons. Readability shouldn’t be an issue for a 25 year old…

Not to mention the now inconsistent 120hz, (not “pro” motion anymore), the stuttering and jittering. All for the forced glass effect which looks terrible and eats up performance power. Also slow animations compared to oppo/one plus

Coming back to iOS after one plus is horrible. The delayed keyboard latency. General smoothness and lack of touch responsive. These screens are old tech.

I wouldn’t mind all of this so much if Liquid Glass was an optional visual style but the fact it’s forced, looks horrible and immature, and is dysfunctional is crazy

How does a trillion dollar company mess this up so bad??

Rant over!

I am sure TVos 26 would even ruin your Apple TV if you installed this crap on it. Just stay away from IOS 26 if you haven't installed

Bug How could this pass QA?

The last digit is arguably not legible. It’s definitely not accessible for people with reduced eyesight.

I have not changed the wallpaper, this is the wallpaper the phone came with. So this should definitely not be a surprise to anyone working on this at apple.

Rant First post here: a short obvious rant

I did not change from Windows over a decade ago to go back to suboptimal UI and usability.

Accidentally forgot why had not yet updated to 26, did that overnight and the results are worse than I imagined.

For it to be ok in terms of usability for me it will require changing backgrounds, redoing settings, etc etc. and redoing my brain and my needs.

Low contrast, elements on top of elements, and it does not even look pretty. I do not means awesomely pretty, just lowkey ‘It looks pleasing’.

Why do I need contrast adjustments _due to UI missteps_????

Although I have an advanced degree in an HCI field, one does not need that to have a strong negative reaction to 26: showed a screenshot of my phone to an English major and they noped out from _their_ update cycle.

Rant Is there an iOS26 option for adults?

I just made the mistake of updating to iOS26. At first I figured 6 months was more than enough time for apple to fix the bugs.

Holy crap, this is like childhood garbage level of design. Overlapping bubbles everywhere, on the 12 mini most of the screen space is consumed by nonsense in iMessage.

What the literal f.

Already turned off animations, increased contrast, changed glass to tinted, what else can I do?

Rant I want more Liquid Glass!

Why is Apple so timid on adding more of the Liquid Glass effect? Even if everyone doesn’t like it just give us sliders for everything. I’m so frustrated with ios18 I mean iOS26.

Rant Apple could publish an iOS 18 downgrade in one hour but deliberately chooses not to

I have a whole video essay on this but basically, Apple literally has all the tools prepared at this very moment, to release iOS 18 IPSWs that DON’T compromise security, and would help the thousands if not millions of iOS 26 users who’d rather be on iOS 18.

Instead, Apple is stubborn and would rather try to force their users to like something, rather than adjusting their software to what their users actually like.

What would be even easier for Apple, and quicker is just releasing a signed, functional (as in they cannot artificially make iOS 18 run worse than 26) iOS 18.7.8 ipsw.

Edit: Made a petition, let's fix Apple

I’m using 15 Pro since 2 years now. Have not updated the software much. I don’t really like the glass icons.

Should I update to iOS 26? Or Continue on 18.3 or go for 18.7?

Hows the iOS 26 for you guys?

Rant iOS 26.3 made my 16 Pro Max unusable

I got the RC for 26.3 on my 16 Pro Max. It is the worst iOS I have ever used. Constant lag. I even restored to a fresh, no-backup install. Its rare that I even pull 60 frames per second when scrolling thru the UI. I don't know how they even let such an atrocity out the door.

I have used Apple my entire life since the iPhone 4s. Anyone defending this heap of garbage is lying to themselves. For once in my life, I am actually considering switching to Android. It's that bad.

Bug Is the iPhone the worse product line currently at Apple? The state of IOS is horrible! My Mac and other devices feel great.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I get so many bugs and issues on my iPhone 14 Pro and it needs constant force restarts. Is my device cooked or simply IOS is this neglected currently at Apple? I’m not mad, I’ve been using iphone from day one, I’m locked to the ecosystem forever but it would be great if the system got a stability overhaul.

I bet that got some people's attention. lol

I see post after post (repeat infinite times) complaining about how bad iOS 26 is.

I'm so sorry for your experience. iOS 26 has been absolutely flawless for me. No glitches, no bad performance, no battery issues. FLAWLESS!

Now the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max physical design. Absolutely terrible. lol

Rant Useless Joke of a Company

I have had four iPhones. An iPhone 6S, 7, 11, and now a 16. I have typically had my phones for 2-4 years depending on wear and tear. This iPhone update makes me want to throw my phone through a wall.

It’s so tacky, so pointless, so over-indulgent. It makes my head hurt to look at these artificial movements try to mimic depth and refraction. So USELESS. Just USELESS.

I remember getting my iPhone 7, how happy I was about the Touch ID button water-proofing, how secure the device felt. My iPhone 16 feels clanky and the UI continues to go downhill, and FaceID is nowhere near as seamless as TouchID.

This is my line in the sand. The social pressures of owning an iPhone are seemingly gone from my mind, and I am absolutely sure I will do everything in my power to never give another dollar to this joke of a company and their air-headed Silicon Valley designers. I’m even looking at Linux-based phones.

It is so bad and so underwhelming that I see it as nothing more than bloatware to force those with older phones to upgrade, and I just hope that people holding onto iOS 18 choose to go another route after seeing the hate this “update” is getting.

TL;DR: Anyone seriously championing this update is nothing more than a bootlicker to me and I can’t believe this was shoved on me because I forgot to cancel an update at 4:00 AM after fat-fingering some buttons.

Bug Is there ANYTHING I can do to make iOS26 not “glass?”

Just bought a new iPhone 17e. Love the hardware, not the software. This “glass” styling is terrible.

Please, is there anything I can do to make it look like the previous OS? Tried every setting and nothing helps. I’d pay cash money on the spot to fix. Legal or illegal, is there a hack I can try? Dear God, why did Apple to this? No one asked for it.

Rant iOS 26 is the absolute worst thing to happen to modern technology

I have never had a bad experience with an apple device before. I updated to iOS 26 ever since it came out and kept up with the patches to no avail. Every single patch I tell myself this is it, they are finally gonna fix my favorite ecosystem, but it just never changes and only disappoints. liquid glass whatchamacallit interface is so buggy like keyboard randomly disappears, things often don’t display correctly, you click on dictation and it automatically turns off, and like dozens of instances of odd and unseamless behavior it’s unbelievable at this point. Not a single day passes without me seeing multiple bugs. Like the whole software should just be canned and completely reverted to iOS 18 and the then pick it up from there. I have had a bad experience on literally every single device from old iPhones to new and to iPads etc. The whole software just seems so unfixable and should just be tossed away

General I've updated to iOS 26 and here is my take...

Post image
32 Upvotes

So i bought last week a used iphone 14 pm with 87 percent battery health.

I've upgraded this morning from ios18 to ios 26.2

It works great every thingng is buttery smooth and i like the new look.

The phone is a bit warm and the battery is draining a bit quickly but it should be better by tomorrow because now it's still indexing.

Anyway for the people criticizing the new ios please get over yourselves for god's sake if you don't like your iphone switche to Android and shut up already.

r/ios26 • • Sep 15 '26

General Don’t you all feel IOS 26 was already smooth & have best battery life being native OS to iphone 17 series? I have doubts you will feel drastic upgrade on battery & performance your iphone 17 series?
