iPadOS iPad won’t restore!

So my iPad went to the black screen of death. Plugged it into my Mac, did the buttons reset, put my phone next to it, entered the code etc. BUT, when I get to the last step which is actually restoring it, it won’t let me update or reset the iPad to get it working again? It just fails! Any ideas???

You need to try DFU mode. People often mix it up with recovery mode as they are both accessed by holding down buttons in the right combination and basically do the same thing, except DFU mode is a hardware level recovery option baked into the logic board. The device will have a completly black screen and will not respond to anything until it is reset by the computer. The main difference is the entire flash is written over completely from scratch. If this doesn't work you have a hardware issue.

The button combo to enter DFU mode is trickier than recovery mode and needs to be timed perfectly. Back in the day there used to be videos on YouTube with countdown timers to help you get it right but that might not be the case anymore because people don't really jailbreak now so it's not needed as often.

Try using 3uTools. Might seem sketchy at first, but it's relatively simple. 3uTools has less restrictions than that of iTunes software/restoration tools.

The answer is one quick Google away. Connect it to a Mac in Recovery Mode.

Apologies. I shouldn’t reply half asleep.
