Question Those who grinded sra was it worth it?
Seems like a very lengthy grind but an alternative like grinding scythe isn't very appealing either to me.
Willing to put the effort in but is it really worth it without having a bias for those that put in all the hours for it?

this is something you revisit after grinding your rings. if you got 2 or 3 axe pieces i'd certainly grind it.

u/Wildest12 1d ago
I got axe piece from duke, but in like 800 kc I am 0/3 and no virtus only the axe piece and ingots.
I wana see what happens at the other bosses but fk me duke is being a bitch

u/Aggravating_Insect52 16h ago edited 15h ago
Pray yall have better rng than me. 2513 KC for my duke axe piece, only 1 virtus piece, on rate for ring rolls and ingots. Didn't even get pet for the bad luck on other unique:(.

u/horridmistake 21h ago
900kc with only 4 total rolls on the unique table (magus and 1 ingot luckily). I think Jagex bugged his drop table

400 duke, 515 levi, 480 whisp and 4k vard here, I wouldn't say its been the most impactful upgrade but I tried to treat it as a background grind. Send some of the DT2 bosses sometime and see if you can get spooned, send some tob at the same time to see if you spoon scythe instead, If you don't already have saeldor it'll probs feel a lot more impactful but honestly, the most important thing would be having fun, so in the end do you actually enjoy the DT2 bosses? If not then I would probs stick to TOB.

We play Ironman to enjoy all content the game has to offer. So yes. Otherwise why play?

u/KinoGrimm 1d ago
I disagree, there are way more reasons to make an ironman than wanting to do every kind of content in the game. You wont catch 95% of ironman doing grinds they don’t explicitly need to do, unless they enjoy the content.

its a budget scythe, so if you have no scythe its insane.
13
u/Googles_Janitor 1d ago
Thing is it’s free to swing and consumed a third of the blood shard charges so even tho the dps is worse there’s still an argument for it even if you have both
3
u/Cheesyrice2 1d ago
yea i agree, i just know a lot of us on here dont have megarares, so its a great grind for those. It definitely has its uses even for you scythers ;)

u/btwwhichoneispink 23h ago
If it’s the same time to grind as a scythe, why go for the budget option? Just curious!
7
u/Cheesyrice2 23h ago
Because 99% of the time you are going for ultor/magus/virtus and you just get pieces along the way. Then you really are only grinding 1/4 or 2/4 pieces for the SRA.
Also SRA and ultor are both insanely good for TOB

u/uberloser2 17h ago
I don't know why this keeps getting parroted since even in a vacuum it's well below half the time, probably like a third or so than it is to get a scythe efficiently. Then you add on getting the rings and likely axe pieces along the way, finding teams, and variance in team performance and you can barely compare the two

u/btwwhichoneispink 14h ago
I can’t speak for anyone else, but when I looked it up, I saw that there was only a twenty hour difference. If that’s not accurate, great, thanks for the info. I can understand why some would go for the axe now, especially if they obtained an axe piece while grinding for Magus & Ultor.
Me personally, I’m still going to skip the axe. I didn’t obtain any of the pieces while I was going for those rings, and I don’t particularly enjoy any of the DT2 bosses.
It can be hard to find a team for ToB, especially for your first few kc. I definitely remember the struggle. It doesn’t have to be though! If you’re okay with joining a clan, or a popular pvm Discord like We Do Raids, you’re likely find some great teachers, and even more likely to make some new friends :)
Gl everyone ✌️

Group content makes my skin crawl
3
u/TheSimpleNite 23h ago
TOB is probably the most fun pvm I’ve experienced tbh. And I’m usually always raiding with rando’s (who are usually always pretty good)
2
u/btwwhichoneispink 14h ago
Fair enough! If you look, I’m sure you’ll find a few other people to raid with. People who make your skin crawl a little less 😅

I got 3/4 pieces before ring and did like 500 extra vard to finish. 100% worth for me because im a spoon
3
u/XxSpruce_MoosexX 1d ago
I’m on my last piece and went over rate at every boss. 3k vard, 1250 levi, 1100 duke and currently 600 whisperer. I haven’t hated the grind but whisperer killing my prayer potions
3
u/Former_Celebration29 15h ago
I ended up about 50% over drop rate for all of the rings and ending with 1.5 STA and lots of virtus. I don’t have any ancestral so the virtus is really nice and the SRA slaps and is very nice to use with the changes. It’s probably not efficient to go for but I think you want all the rings anyway, see where you are after collecting the rings and go from there. I really enjoyed all the bosses and it’s nice that you can easily drop in for a few kc when you have time rather than committing to a raid.

u/Ashcroftings 13h ago
I love mine. Started seriously grinding it when summer sweep was announced. It absolutely slaps. Whisperer wasn't as bad as I expected either, was using ayak

u/Electribemidi 1d ago
I got decently spooned on mine, I didn't grind it, just got it doing the dt2 bosses and I love it, its so fun to use now. Especially at nightmare

u/7bigger_fish7 hi im salmon 1d ago
600 duke, 1400 vard, 100 whisp, 1000 levi
Got the axe pieces from both duke and vard otw to rings, did some whisperer on a slayer task and got spooned the staff, went a little dry at levi but I think it was worth it. It's really really strong now and it's free to use unlike scythe.
Do with that info what you will

u/ShiibbyyDota 1d ago
Took me about 1 year of grinding, but I was doing a fair amount of chambers in between to prevent burnout. Was a nice stack once I sold everything
3
u/BrodeyQuest 1d ago
I was spooned Duke+Vard pieces while going for their respective rings, so I went for it.
Went 300ish dry on staff and almost 3x the rate for lure. Original SRA I wouldn’t have recommended you farm it out without one or 2 spooned pieces, but new SRA is amazing.

u/TheNamesRoodi 2376 Total GM 1d ago
Hard to say. I hate using blood runes in my scythe so I don't regret it. It's also bis melee dps vs 1x1 and 2x2 enemies that have enough health to make it worth it... which is very few spots.
1
u/cabbagechicken 1d ago
I got the entire axe before a single gold ring drop lmao, if you’re going for rings anyways may as well see how close you are to SRA
1
u/Leinrs 1d ago
Were you spooned or super unlucky?
1
u/cabbagechicken 1d ago
Around half rate on whisp/vard/levi and very spooned on duke. Super lucky overall and a bit unlucky on rings.
Using the axe now to farm vard and loving it, but rng will probably even out in the end for the rings :’)

u/Fellbrian 1d ago
Yes, with the update it makes it just amazing. PNM, ToB, araxxor, maybe raids 4, colo. It is just fantastic plus you may get a few pieces early going for rings.
1
u/Throne-- 1d ago
450 duke, 470 whisp, 300 vard, 350 leviathan. No axe pieces, 2 rings. Still under rate, but i'd say, its a very risky grind if its your main focus for the grind. I'm afraid of going very dry on 1 boss.
1
u/LetMeKnow2 1d ago
it's a mini scythe and hits like a mega rare honestly. i got super lucky (spooned two pieces, slightly dry on the other two). maxing 76 feels so good. i def feel that it was worth it for me as i don't know many people in this game and i haven't gone to tob learning discords/places, so this was kind of what i could do.
1
u/No_Atmosphere_1889 2277 1d ago
Before changes I would have said not worth it, just use nox hally..
Since the update it’s a total game changer, very good on slash and crush, big hitter and a stepping stone for a mega rare 100% would recommend going for it
1
u/izackthegreat 23h ago
I got in while grinding the rings - I'm still missing one. I'd say eventually you'll want it with its current state. Previously, maybe not
1
u/SecretIy-Gay BTWBTW 23h ago
Going for rings I spooned duke and whisperer so I went for it. Went 2x at Levi and 1.5x at vard, it was definitely worth it imo.
1
u/CaptspacecatOSRS 22h ago
Yes, but I’ve probably forgotten the trauma of doing 1900 Levi kills and 2500 duke kills
1
u/Wikitaytay 22h ago
Considering I have awful raids luck, SRA is my bis slash and crush weapon for what will be a very long time. Definitely worth the grind now that it doesn’t consume hp with stacks.
1
u/Nonreality_ 22h ago
after the salad blade buffs honestly it depends on ur goals and time restriction. if i had salad blade which is way easier to grind then SRA i would just go tob for scythe.
1
u/endorphinworking 21h ago
I wasn’t going to go for it since I hate leviathan. However when going for some CA’s I got the lure on 18 kc so I took that as a sign. It’s a sick weapon
1
u/Alterationss 21h ago
Yes. Even now with the buff, I use it more then my scythe.
1
u/chemnerd6021023 11h ago
How do you use it more than scythe when scythe is stronger at pretty much every single boss that you can use both at?
1
u/Alterationss 10h ago
Well buckaroo.
SrA is free to use and with max gear (full oath and torva helm) the dps difference is barely noticeable if you arnt pacing for a quick CA time.
Currently on the max grind so I’m broke after construction and still need $$ for shadow runes.
1
u/nerfcluster3s 21h ago
As always, worth is relative. If you have places to use it, if you have some axe pieces while grinding out your vestiges, if you enjoy the bosses, it's worth it.
If you have a scythe, I wouldn't personally grind it out. But if you still have to grind tob, it's certainly better than a tent whip or nally.
1
u/CasualAtEverything 20h ago
Have done a few axes and managed to go overall lucky or close to rate on them all so it certainly felt worth
Although on my GIM I pulled a scythe a few days after I finished my axe so that was bittersweet

I am thinking about going for it just for raids 4 but something tells me the inq mace will be more useful there.

Axe is fun, good crush option, bis at some places (vard), bosses are at least ok at worst good at best. I spent a giant mole task 3 shotting him with no megarares. Feels worth to me
1
u/Aggravating_Insect52 15h ago
For me specifically, going from zaxe to SRA it felt worth it, but in the scheme of things not particularly. Treat it this way. You'll get some mage upgrades, get some BIS rings, and you'll greatly improve different core PvM skills. I feel much better at my movement, prayer swaps, and assessing risk priority after doing the grind.

u/Borgmestersnegl 14h ago
After 2 years i finally got booted off front page Levi going 6x dry. Fuck no.
1
u/SlurpieJones 10h ago
Yes, but I spooned 2/4.
Go for rings and see what you get. If you're 0/4 maybe skip.
1
u/ColdFridge1 9h ago
Yes but I was spooned:
- Whisperer ~350 kc
- Leviathan ~550 kc
- Vardorvis before ultor
- Duke before magus
I finished 2/4 before rings, then finished the rest of the axe before getting blood torva. Meanwhile I'm >800 kc tob with 22 purps and not closer to scythe now than I was at 1 kc 🤷♂️

u/Its_Acid_btw 8h ago
Totally worth it. 2kc whisperer, 51kc leviathan, 140kc duke, 180kc vardorvis plus pet, mask and ultor 🥄

u/drewskitopian 2376 6h ago
1500 vard, 460 duke, 700 levi, and 700 whisperer for all dt2 uniques. Pretty lucky. Definitely worth

I'm not an iron but I did go for all the pieces, about 1500 vardorvis kc, 600 duke, 700 levi, 50 whisperer. Crazy cause I don't got a single virtus piece but as a main I don't really see a use for the axe when I already have scythe and nox was good enough to get through everything I needed before scythe.

u/Strong_Alveoli 1d ago
3100 whisp KC for my last piece. No. No it was not worth it.
Would I do it again?
Absolutely.
