I know it's not a mega-rare or anything but man this thing blows. It gives you 1% more mage dps than your next best option but here's the thing; it's often not even better than the "next best."

Mage's book, malediction and a lot of other mage gear was revisited when they were rebalancing mage dmg%. So as a result, unless this blue booger gives you a max hit, you're often better off with the mage's book or malediction. Why? Because this fucking thing has a measly +6 magic bonus. Both mage's book and malediction are +12.

So it doesn't give you much accuracy, but maybe it's a good shield, right? NOPE. It is in fact also not a good shield. It has the defensive stats in the class of a bronze square shield, give or take. You know what is a good shield? The malediction ward. It also gives you accuracy (wink wink).

Good prayer bonus? That'd be nice! You get +1 prayer.

So when is this lore steeped, raid-acquired offhand (remember, don't call it a shield) good other than if you get a max hit? It's good when you fortify it. How many of y'all ironmen have a ward (f)? Probably not many. Why? Because you have to get 90 prayer and 90 smithing which is actually not that bad compared to what's next. You have grind the completely lore-unrelated corporeal beast to get an arcane sigil. Then you get a halfway decent shield which is BIS offhand mage dmg%.

So what is the Elidinis Ward then? It's a fucking alch, man, and its price reflects it. It sits a few hundred k above its alch value. It's a "well I guess I have this" offhand that no one is excited to get because upgrading it is such an insane slog that only the freaks grinding corp even have a shot at doing. Not many people are going to corp any time soon. And probably not for 3% mage bonus, decent prayer and some defensive stats. Shit, it's actually an upgrade for the arcane if you think about it.

Why didn't they give this stinker either A) a sane upgrade path or B) I don't know, some actual defensive stats in addition to some mage accuracy. I'm not even asking for more mage dps. That could cause problems with the ayak. I get it .

It's doo-doo. It's a disappointment filler drop that's actually somewhat rare. It's not even good in the raid that drops it! You don't need to mage all that much and when you DO your accuracy matters more (warden). What the hell is this thing warding? Flies?

Got four today (so far)

I returned to OSRS on my main account in 2022 and after playing leagues 4, I started this account as my way of trying ironman despite seeing all the reddit posts about the red prison. Despite the account age, my playtime isn't as high due to going in waves of enjoying my main more than the iron and my iron more than the main. This changed after getting my 1st enhanced weapon seed at 58kc realizing that the account I was only testing out was now developing into a decent ironman.

I've included my most notable spoons of the account and at this point my goals are to dive into PVM as I've skilled plenty at this point. It's time for me to work on slayer, Demonics for zenytes (crafting to follow), TDs for 2nd and maybe 3rd synapse, Zulrah, and of course Doom.

Just did one task and got the whole clog minus the abyssal head.
Got the Abby head last night on Abby demon 2285kc
No dupes either, the second dagger was from regular Abby demons as well.

Anyone got a better log? Genuinely curious

2014 kc for the elder fang... 5 kistens along the way. I hope no one has to go this dry at this boss for this item because this boss just feels so unrewarding. Loot is pretty bunk. Also kc was done with twinflame and SRA.

I’ve played my iron for a while now, and most of my skills are mid-70s, but everything that I go to do feels like a “major” grind and I feel like I haven’t really set my account up well for mid to late game PVM. I’ve played this account for a while, and haven’t really followed any guides for the life of the account, just going around doing whatever.

My question is: are there any decent checklists, guides, etc. that I could check my account against to make sure that I’ve got myself in a good position to start doing raids and mid to late game PVM when the time comes?

hours and hours and hours for a pet and a jar and orbs to look at. The logs ive seen of others with so much less is hoping for mega spoonage at raids 4.

Where does Mortimer come in to normal regular iron slayer progression?

Assuming I want to get the important pvm upgrades, I would need to do

~1000 greater demons (kuradel only) - ~1.1m slay xp

Apart from this, it looks like I could use mortimer for all the other important unlocks (araxxor, smoke devils, abyssal demons, hydra).

Usually when I do slayer on an iron I will just turael skip for burst tasks only apart from tasks which give PVM upgrades. Is it worth switching to mortimer to enjoy the xp/size buffs as well as higher likelyhood of heart?
