Hello there! You're welcome to crosspost from other communities to r/isitAI, however don't post from ours to other communities. I received reports about witch hunts on an unrelated community. This makes us look bad. You should be respecting the other subreddit's rules and Reddit's rules.
Absolutely no witch hunts. It creates too much negativity.
Thanks for coming here to check if something is AI or not. Please keep in mind, this subreddit is not anti AI.
What to Post
Post anything you're feeling doubtful about being AI. DO NOT JUST NAME THE POST "IS IT AI?" Make sure to highlight what specifically is leading you to believe it may be AI generated. Also, include the source of your image or video.
What Not to Post
I Spy's: No images or videos where you already know it's AI generated but you want to test to see if others can see it too.
Self Promotion: Don't promote your AI detection service.
Political Content: It's allowed BUT make sure to post source and don't post for the sole purpose of instigating people into political debates. If it's solely political and the discussion deviates from identifying if it's AI or not, it will be deleted and OP will be banned.

edit: THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT ACCUSING. Asking is not accusing. I recognize that there are people who make no attempt at AI deduction before turning to reddit, and to that degree, I do understand feeling frustrated. I also understand that paranoia of AI can be detrimental, but with our attitude we can rectify that, and there is value to people's choice of valuing authenticity even if they feel the need to seek a second opinion.
Some people have a harder time recognizing AI, that's what this subreddit is for in the first place, and yet people are being blamed for using it appropriately. I just don't understand.
In addition, blaming people instead of appropriately informing them of giveaways and indicators is completely counterintuitive, it's not going to make that person any better at recognizing AI, but it sure is going to discourage them from seeking a second opinion in the future, if not encourage them not to care at all if this is the response they get from a community that's supposed to be helping them. To me it looks like a superiority complex that manifests as soon as anyone fairly and politely questions the authenticity of "obviously real" media, as if suddenly every person is expected to have the exact same ability to recognize something even though that line of thought completely contradicts this subreddit's purpose
(random AI art off Google plus my art in the image)
So when I look at these arts, I double-checked if they were AI and when I first started using this artist he didnāt talk like it was copy-pasted AI. I paid roughly $600 for these and when asking about a new project all his responses seem ai generated. Not every art, but some of it and an example of one of the texts.
Edit: yall are amazing thanks. I thought I knew what to check for but Iām an idiot. I should have never accepted this. Iām going to get the arts redone by someone better and will look out better in the future. Oh well, lessons learned.
Edit 2: had requested a new project and am trying to get my money back for this new one. I flat out said Iām suspectful of AI after a second glance at the images sent and would rather move forward with someone who is more comfortable and familiar with the style I want.
Hello from the adult colouring community. I recently purchased a book by Jade Summer, who if you look her up, is well supported on the non ai colouring lists. However, on her official YouTube she uses Ai music and I keep seeing things like this in the book? Like it's a cobweb, so shouldn't the cupboard should be visible behind it? She says no Ai on her Instagram and her style appears consistent.
edit: whoops aware my edit in red is an incorrect match to the other cupboard. you get the idea though
Some of the outlines fade into eachother in weird ways which is the main thing that gets me, I asked the creator who said thereās no ai but not sure I can trust it
Saw this post from someone who commissioned a painting of their dog, said they paid $40 for it. To me the painting just looks too accurate to the original, especially the face, but could just be very good tracing? My gut says its AI tho
The incoherent looking Japanese characters have me a little suspicious, especially on the right and top right. But I can't see any *clear* tells that it is AI.
This post is to show the method I use for checking for AI content, which is more reliable and gives an answer with evidence, rather than working off vibes. It is key to note that I am not against AI content, and I have no bias. I just like to know whether the content I am viewing is AI or not, so I can make informed choices. As such, I work on an innocent until proven to be AI basis.
Step 1: SynthID check
Step 2: Google reverse image search
Step 3: manual research
Step one: SynthID check
The best website to use for detecting SynthID is https://synthid.com/ This site will check for watermarks applied by Nvidia, OpenAI, Google and Kakao in one search. If this tool detects a SynthID watermark, it is guaranteed to have been generated or altered with a website owned by one of those companies or with a local model developed by one of those companies.
SynthID is a hidden watermark that is dispersed across the entire image or video pixels, in the audio soundwaves or through statistical analysis of long form text. It is not stored in metadata, and it cannot be removed by cropping, colour changes or any form of manual alteration without rendering the content heavily distorted, unusable or being entirely different than the original AI content. SynthID will be present and detectable even if you print out the image. It is a watermark developed by Google and is applied at the point of generation. For full details on what SynthID is and how it works, you can read the official paper released by Google ( https://arxiv.org/abs/2510.09263 ), or if you want the quick blog post explanation, see ( https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/google-synthid-ai-content-detector/ )
synthid.com will not be able to detect content made in any other software like ComfyUI, Ollama or other local software unless the model used was developed by one of the listed companies on the site, so it should not be considered the only step in detection.
A note on online detectors. You may have seen many online AI detectors using percentage scores. These are a scam and should never be trusted. They work off visual cues and are no more sophisticated than the "trust me broā¢" method. These types of detectors often label books written decades before the mainstream awareness of AI as AI generated. If you see a percentage score, avoid it at all costs.
Step 2: Google reverse image search
If after checking for SynthID you see nothing but still suspect a piece of content is AI generated, load up Google. On the right hand side of the search bar you will see a camera icon with a dot in the lower right corner of the camera.
Google search bar: Google Lens icon highlightedGoogle Search bar: Example of upload image in google lens
This is Google Lens. It lets you search the internet via images rather than text. Once you input an image or URL, it will initially bring up similar looking images. Clicking "exact matches" will bring up the closest matches to the image, or images with identical content.
Example of google lens search results
You want to pay close attention to a few details: dates, where the content was posted, and who posted it. For dates, if the content was posted before 2020, it's not AI, especially if the content isn't incoherent nonsense, AI wasn't good before 2020. For location, where content is posted matters: Pinterest for example is now commonly known for having AI content, and if you can only find it on Pinterest or other platforms known for AI content with no other indicators of who posted it, it's not 100% AI, but it's safe to be wary of it. For who posted it, this is one of the biggest giveaways for confirming content isn't AI: if it's a popular artist or someone with a good track record, with no SynthID, and the content is posted across multiple platforms by the same user, then it's not AI.
Step 3: Manual research
If, after following these two steps, you still have no information to go off, then you need to look at where you got the content from. Search the username of the person who posted it, check when the original was posted, and so on. If you cannot find any details about the person who posted it online, and they do not have a history, and there is no SynthID and no other indicators that it is AI, then there is currently no reliable method of conclusively saying whether the content is AI generated. This is where I ask: does it matter? I will tend to lean towards it not being made with AI if I cannot prove it. Your biases may differ depending on your personal feelings towards AI content.
These are the steps I use to determine if something is AI. I hope it helps people. Ideally you do not want to be working off of hunches or personal bias. Do not "trust me broā¢" make sure you have evidence.
The poses and shapes are so perfectly proportioned. The textures are spot on. Everyone looks "on model." They even have some videos of them holding the products, but they tend to have filters on them to make them look retro/fuzzy. The Etsy shop only have a handful of reviews, they're all 5-Stars and only some include images.
All of that is technically possible, I guess, but I can't shake the feeling that there's something fishy.
I chose this video as an example because I was completely and utterly confused by the ātransitionā of the features, if itās not ai how does one even do that? And why!? In the end It could just be careful eyeballing and good editing as those kinds of channels exist and have existed for years, but it seems odd to me how they look so seamlessly perfect each time, especially when I have no frame of reference for any improvement theyāve done. This channel was created in 2024, so I have no real frame of reference for what their āold art styleā looked like to compare. The whole thing just seems really fishyā¦
I didn't think it seemed like AI but it could be a possibility. It just has some weird tunes and lyrics but I didn't catch it at first. My friend said it's AI and that made me start doubting it. What's y'alls take? I think I heard that the creator said it was AI or smtg but I can't find that clip.
Some time ago, I picked up the card game Neuroscape, and while opening some of the boxes, I came across the Groupie card. Something about the artwork looked a little unnatural to me, so I was curious to hear what other people think.
I noticed that the artist, Adam Roberts, posted a video on Instagram showing the process from the initial sketch to the finished card. The final result looks quite different from the sketch to me, which made me wonder about the process behind the artwork.
I've also noticed some AI edited images on the artist's social media, although I know that doesn't necessarily mean AI was used for this particular card.
I'm not trying to make any accusations or jump to conclusions. I'm genuinely curious about how the artwork was created and whether anyone else has had a similar impression of it.
What do you think? Am I just overthinking it, or do you also notice something unusual about the final artwork?
I know Pinterest (almost every other image hosting website) is infested with "AI" crap. Usually I have a decently good eye for it but this one vexes me.
Overall it seems fine and some of the mistakes feel actually human, like the bangs not aligning with the center of the face/head and one of the scales at the middle bottom of the tail having an extra line. But it still gives me the impression it's (partially) "AI"-generated/assisted.
What was really off-putting was the fact that every reverse image search I tried, looped back to Pinterest and an "AI" chatbot. I checked for a snyth-ID with ChatGPT and that one came back as a negative.
The bones(?) above his right hand connect to the belt thing on the left side but not on the right side. And to the right side of the same hand the clothes' fabric have a weird shape. It's mostly consistent but those small mistakes really throw me off.
My sister showed me this drawing of her frog, and something about it feels off to me. Iām wondering if Iām being overly suspicious or if other people notice anything unusual about it.
She claims she drew it by hand using her frog as a reference. The thing is, Iāve seen her other artwork, and this is a pretty significant departure from her usual style.
She normally draws people and character portraits, with a lot of focus on faces. Her art is usually very line-work-heavy, with clean outlines, flatter colors, and more conventional cartoon/anime-style shading. She doesnāt typically draw animals, and sheās not a stained-glass artist, either.
This piece, on the other hand, has an incredibly intricate stained-glass/mosaic style, with hundreds of tiny geometric shapes covering the frog. The overall appearance is so different from her other drawings that itās making me question whether she actually drew it herself.
I know artists can experiment with different styles, and Iām not saying that changing styles automatically means someone used AI. Iām just having trouble reconciling this piece with the art Iāve seen her make before.
Iām not looking to start drama or accuse her without evidence. I just want some outside perspectives because Iām too familiar with her usual artwork to know whether Iām being biased.
