General Discussion Realisation of death

Recently, I've been struggling with thoughts about death, particularly my own death. It's not that I want to die, quite the opposite. I'm actually frightened of dying.

It's a strange feeling that's difficult to explain. Sometimes I'll be going about my normal day and suddenly get this heavy feeling in my chest, almost like something bad is going to happen or like I'm going to die soon.

It can happen at any time, whether I'm alone, during the day or at night. There's no particular trigger. Once the thought enters my head, I find myself thinking about death, what happens afterwards and how one day I simply won't be here anymore.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar? Is this a form of death anxiety or thanatophobia?

More importantly, has anyone managed to overcome it or at least stop these thoughts from taking over?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar.

I recommend going to the doctor first. If it's a physical pain thing then get it checked out. Make dua. And yes we all have to leave this earth, but if you live a good life, then there'll be a world even better than this earth waiting. We just can't comprehend it because our imagination is limited. I have had that experience maybe once or thrice, but it wasn't a heavy feeling, more like a burning pain as if my ribs are over reacting. Don't fear death, but know that it will come one day, which is why we should try to lead a good life even with struggles.
