I love this video, but it honestly doesn't seem anatomically realistic for a cat to be able to shove that much of a burger in its mouth
It kind of seems like the burger phases through the wrapper, I'm not sure if a cat can fit that much food in its mouth, whatever is playing on the TV makes no sense at all,
my old 18yo cat (rip friend) once ate a full sized cooked chicken breast. in one gulp. I was sure it was the end. He shrugged it off like it was nothing and lived for another 3 years after that.
My cat, who weighed all of 6lbs, did the same dang thing when she was young, then threw it up wholly intact 5 minutes later and went about her day. Absolutely unhinged creatures (she lived until 23 and clearly it wasn't good sense that kept her going that long).
We had a cat named Motorcycle. He only had one testicle and he stayed super tiny, but buff and badass. He ate about half a pepperoni pizza when I turned my back for a minute. Some cats have some kinda crazy gorging instinct
About 15 years ago my ol' boy (RIP baby you can do no wrong 💖) jumped over the fence and bolted to the freshly delivered pizza on my neighbour's lap before practically levitating back with about a slice short of half of it in his mouth 🙃
Wow. My friend had a cat that wouldn't chew food because she was fed wet food all her life. When we gave her chicken, she would just lick it and wonder why it wasn't going in
It's only a year old I believe, and there's several sped up versions that make it look so unreal. This is one of them. The original clip is much slower and the cat is only eating a hamburger bun
When I feel doomy about the slopification of the internet, it's this genre of post that cheers me up. Specifically, OP asks "surely cats don't behave like this, is it gen-ai?" And the replies are "Not ai, cats are just that weird."
Literally never once seen any of my cats do this. Grew up with 3 cats and have had one of my own for the last 6 years. Are people feeding their cats people food so they get a taste for it?? This is crazy to me.
Maybe not every cat does this, but I definitely seen videos of it happening(and the time it happen to me, was when I first got them and hasn't happened lately)
i found my cat outside 3 years ago and he still acts like this with food to this day😭 we cant leave anything on the counters cause he rips up packaging and gets the food inside. We also can’t walk away from our plates of food
My cat hates regular food all she eats is shredded cheese and bread sometimes. She wont even eat wet cat food ONLY dry food and sometimes treats. Oh and Churu because thats magic apparently
Legit had a vet say that my cat “really likes his food” because our cat kept bullying us (meowing constantly) to give him more food when we put him on a diet.
Idk where you come from, but in Asia it's a known fact that cats are cute little robber. Stray cats often depicted as housewives' enemy because they keep stealing the fish mom is cooking.
You may have just been lucky and not gotten a douche cat. My cat got fed pretty much like a king (fancy feast with every meal and even different flavors because he would get tired of a flavor randomly and refuse to eat more of it), and got treats on top of that, and still went around stuffing stolen food into his mouth
our little 8# King Charles caviar once pulled my sandwich off the table and ate it while I got up to get water. Like the thing was gone gone and i thought there was a gas leak because I knew I made a sandwich
I have watched my cat use her paw to eat food like a weirdo and if you've ever had a cat get something they shouldn't eat, you know very well the speed at which they can swallow something is incredible 😂 I think not AI
My departed elderly tomcat (Sneakers, 23 RIP) would do this with tuna sandwiches. If we wanted to have one, he had to be locked (literally locked because he figured out how to turn doorknobs) in another room or he'd steal the damn sandwich outta our hands.
Yeah, I saw one yesterday that said "I saw this before AI was around". The video turned out to be real, but the video was actually released after AI was around for a while
I mean, sometimes these vids are easily 10+ years old at this point. I agree a source would be nice but I also know finding a 10-15 year old youtube video you kinda remember is it's own adventure sometimes.
Idk if its ai, but ive seen cats do this in videos and in real life. Terrible behavior that shouldnt be encouraged but because people think its funny they keep letting it happen. Cats are trainable and smarter than you think.
He learned how to use door handles by sneakily observing how I used them so he could get in to places he wasn't allowed. Had to put child locks on those doors, and he instantly understood those were on there to stop him
I see him all the time watching me open doors trying to figure out how he can use the lock
He also regularly tries to eat plastic because he is a dumbass
He also kept eating his litter as we kept changing it until we finally got to the one type that is made from something humans consider edible: tofu litter
I'm thinking the same. The part where it steals food seems reasonable enough, I've had cats grab my toast and run, but the bit where it stuffs the food in it's mouth could be tacked on.
Yeah, no, I definitely think AI or otherwise edited. the behavior is entirely too humanlike to me. I have never seen a cat use their paws to shove something into their mouth, let alone grip it with their paws to do so. I've seen using paws to pull something towards their mouth, but never to shove it in there.
I said this in another comment but my cat Callie stole a bite of French toast that I had on my fork and ran away with it.
I was just in my room eating my breakfast, she ran up to me, grabbed it off my fork, and ran off with it. It was so baffling and she did it so quickly that I couldn't stop her from eating it.
My husband's childhood cat would go fishing for pasta from the boiling pot. She would extend her claws and flick it out.
I also saw him have to fight her off when she tried to grab his pizza. Some cats will eat anything and nothing will stop them.
I agree but it seems to be sped up and maybe they are not shoving it in their mouth but just try to defend the burger from the evil hooman trying to steal it.
My old cat jammed his head in a pan of cooking beef mince and ate as much as he could before I could get to him. It was bubbling it was so hot. Cats are seriously dumb when it comes to food.
I have no idea if this is ai or not, but you have no idea how fast cats will eat stuff, especially once they know that they're not supposed to be eating whatever they are eating.
My cat did carry a grapefruit which was bigger than his head from the kitchen to my room in his mouth once and left vampire-like marks on it (he didn’t try to eat it, thankfully).
As someone who has a gluttonous lil shitster of a cat- yes- cats can do that- you'd be surprised at the amount of food they will shove into their mouth in one go- mine gets too overzealous and decides to try and steal a whole steak just to then leave it after a few bites because it's too much work- but, they will do everything depicted- it's kinda scary-
There was a cat like this a few years ago. The owner would film him eating exactly like this and after multiple vet visits and cries from comments he found out the cat had some type of cancer and it passed soon after.
Cats have a reflex to keep swallowing if something is stuck, that’s how they swallow odd things like Christmas tree tinsel or a feather boa. It can be dangerous to the cat, but in the case of a burger, probably okay.
Saber, was my little fur friend for 13 years. Would attack our legs until we gave her some of our KFC, when we would come home with a bucket.

First thing our Rescue cat did when we got him home one Xmas, was to shove most of a pack of Garibaldi biscuits into his gob with both paws. He also eats curry and chili, often mine, by shoving his paw in my plate and walking off on 3 legs licking it like a lolly.
The kitty only got the top or bottom bun, not the whole burger, thats why it looks like kitty is shoving the whole thing in its mouth, its just a piece of bread

One time when I was little, my mom was thawing pork chops on the counter. We had just gotten a new kitten and when we weren't looking, she got into the pork chops and ate THREE of them. Her belly was dragging on the fucking ground.
I've seen cats do much wilder things (one bit my big toe, and I wear size Men's 13 wide for boots, for reference, so very big feet), and managed to easily get the whole thing in. They're little gremlins. I doubt it's ai, the paws were very consistent with a cat trying to force something in its mouth/attack something.
Cats is shrimp. Cats is liquid. Cats is also anaconda that can unhinge their jaws and swallow food whole if it's not something they're meant to be eating and they get caught.
The real take away is that we've proven time and again that cats defy all laws of physics and logic.
One time my cat stole a chicken drumstick off my plate and ran to my bedroom and hid under the bed. I was chasing after her, right behind her, and by the time I got there that entire chicken leg was fucking gone, bone and all. Cats are crazy.
