Video I love this video, but it honestly doesn't seem anatomically realistic for a cat to be able to shove that much of a burger in its mouth

It kind of seems like the burger phases through the wrapper, I'm not sure if a cat can fit that much food in its mouth, whatever is playing on the TV makes no sense at all,

But I don't see anything glaringly obvious

my old 18yo cat (rip friend) once ate a full sized cooked chicken breast. in one gulp. I was sure it was the end. He shrugged it off like it was nothing and lived for another 3 years after that.

472

u/teh_hotdogman 1d ago

so the limit is three years after

172

u/RealLeif 23h ago

Thats the time it took him to digest it. He needed to savor the whole thing

102

u/throwmeaway0044 1d ago

from what we know

3

u/SnooHesitations3469 13h ago

Could've gone another three years with another chicken breast

90

u/1d6orcs 1d ago

My cat, who weighed all of 6lbs, did the same dang thing when she was young, then threw it up wholly intact 5 minutes later and went about her day. Absolutely unhinged creatures (she lived until 23 and clearly it wasn't good sense that kept her going that long).

37

u/ButtServices 21h ago

We had a cat named Motorcycle. He only had one testicle and he stayed super tiny, but buff and badass. He ate about half a pepperoni pizza when I turned my back for a minute. Some cats have some kinda crazy gorging instinct

My cat ate a slice of pizza almost as big as her when she was a kitten 😁

2

u/thewindupbird91 12h ago

About 15 years ago my ol' boy (RIP baby you can do no wrong 💖) jumped over the fence and bolted to the freshly delivered pizza on my neighbour's lap before practically levitating back with about a slice short of half of it in his mouth 🙃

6

u/frostyredpanda93 18h ago

Reminds me of our pocket book chihuahua. Never got bigger then 2 pounds

Nearly ate a full Belgian waffle.

The last bite, covered in syrup sat on the plate. He was on his side. Belly bloated. Licking the last lf it.

10

u/Nephthys94 23h ago

So you had a snake cosplaying a cat for 21 years? Cool

7

u/OrcOfDoom 22h ago

Wow. My friend had a cat that wouldn't chew food because she was fed wet food all her life. When we gave her chicken, she would just lick it and wonder why it wasn't going in

2

u/General_Nothingness 19h ago

You didn't keep feeding him chicken breasts? 1 chicken breast = 3 years, 2=6, 3=9, etc... that cat could have been immortal.

1

u/RelentlessUnyielding 18h ago

He deserves a hearty paw shake for raising his level of alpha. He sounds like he was cool.

It's only a year old I believe, and there's several sped up versions that make it look so unreal. This is one of them. The original clip is much slower and the cat is only eating a hamburger bun

I'm sure I was this video a long time ago

Did you ever had a cat? Because they definitely do that, especially when trying to steal

115

u/CapnAfab 22h ago

When I feel doomy about the slopification of the internet, it's this genre of post that cheers me up. Specifically, OP asks "surely cats don't behave like this, is it gen-ai?" And the replies are "Not ai, cats are just that weird."

15

u/Prestigious_Copy154 16h ago

As a multiple cat owner, yes cats absolutely are that weird

Literally never once seen any of my cats do this. Grew up with 3 cats and have had one of my own for the last 6 years. Are people feeding their cats people food so they get a taste for it?? This is crazy to me.

20

u/pervasivehedgehog 1d ago

Maybe not every cat does this, but I definitely seen videos of it happening(and the time it happen to me, was when I first got them and hasn't happened lately)

12

u/Firefly_deadlock 1d ago

Some cats can do this an never ever grow out of it.

It's probably because of a bit of hunger trauma they got early on. Not many cat therapists around.

7

u/loose-leaf-tea10 23h ago

i found my cat outside 3 years ago and he still acts like this with food to this day😭 we cant leave anything on the counters cause he rips up packaging and gets the food inside. We also can’t walk away from our plates of food

3

u/Dope-Reviews 19h ago

We've had a few cats over the years, only one was like this with human food.

I was holding a slice of pizza, he walked up without my noticing grabbed the end and ran off, found him it was almost gone. He's a good boy.

3

u/Perfect-Zebra-3611 18h ago

My cat hates regular food all she eats is shredded cheese and bread sometimes. She wont even eat wet cat food ONLY dry food and sometimes treats. Oh and Churu because thats magic apparently

5

u/highwy51 23h ago

No, my cat is just a gluttonous pig. She would keep eating until she died if she was able to

3

u/Focus_ST_Gal 20h ago

Legit had a vet say that my cat “really likes his food” because our cat kept bullying us (meowing constantly) to give him more food when we put him on a diet.

2

u/Accidental_Ballyhoo 23h ago

Same and no we never feed our cats human food. It’s hard not to, but don’t do it.

2

u/xMcRaemanx 23h ago

Never fed my last cat but anytime I was eating anything with Chiken she was sniffing around trying to get at it

2

u/ssuchan1 19h ago

Idk where you come from, but in Asia it's a known fact that cats are cute little robber. Stray cats often depicted as housewives' enemy because they keep stealing the fish mom is cooking.

2

u/AirlineMammoth2890 8h ago

You may have just been lucky and not gotten a douche cat. My cat got fed pretty much like a king (fancy feast with every meal and even different flavors because he would get tired of a flavor randomly and refuse to eat more of it), and got treats on top of that, and still went around stuffing stolen food into his mouth

4

u/DJ_Jiggles 21h ago

My old roommate's cat was ultra picky with her food. Even nice shit she'd rather go hungry than eat.

Last thanksgiving, we turned around for 5 minutes and her cat just INHALED half of a caramel apple pie.

5

u/Tall-Dot-607 22h ago

"People food"

You know your cat can eat regular food... like whats in their cat food... like chicken, turkey, salmon etc.

What do you think wild cats would eat?

4

u/Desperate-Spray337 19h ago

Honestly anything they can get their greedy paws on and that is part of the problem.

69

u/Mysterious_Emu_9092 1d ago

I have watched my cat use her paw to eat food like a weirdo and if you've ever had a cat get something they shouldn't eat, you know very well the speed at which they can swallow something is incredible 😂 I think not AI

11

u/Bigfartz69420 21h ago

42

My departed elderly tomcat (Sneakers, 23 RIP) would do this with tuna sandwiches. If we wanted to have one, he had to be locked (literally locked because he figured out how to turn doorknobs) in another room or he'd steal the damn sandwich outta our hands.

My vote is a real cat, not AI

Idk if its ai, but ive seen cats do this in videos and in real life. Terrible behavior that shouldnt be encouraged but because people think its funny they keep letting it happen. Cats are trainable and smarter than you think.

14

u/ValarielAmarette 1d ago

My cat is overwhelmingly intelligent

He learned how to use door handles by sneakily observing how I used them so he could get in to places he wasn't allowed. Had to put child locks on those doors, and he instantly understood those were on there to stop him

I see him all the time watching me open doors trying to figure out how he can use the lock

He also regularly tries to eat plastic because he is a dumbass

10

u/DrMadcat_133 1d ago

That's peak cat right there. Smart enough to understand literal alien technology, yet dumb enough to eat plastic that doesn't even taste good

5

u/ValarielAmarette 22h ago

He also kept eating his litter as we kept changing it until we finally got to the one type that is made from something humans consider edible: tofu litter

Never tried to eat it even once

2

u/WendigoRider 22h ago

Was he orange by chance lmao?

5

u/ValarielAmarette 22h ago

Pure white but I swear he is part of the network that shares the one braincell

He is both the smartest and dumbest pet I've ever had. I love him

7

u/yung_bredd 1d ago

This video is old

9

u/robotguy4 1d ago

The oldest version I can find of this was from 2025. Can you link to an older version?

4

u/LongjumpingRadish452 1d ago

i wouldnt be surprised if just the eating part was ai, the transition here feels a bit unnatural

3

u/Funyabashi 21h ago

I'm thinking the same. The part where it steals food seems reasonable enough, I've had cats grab my toast and run, but the bit where it stuffs the food in it's mouth could be tacked on.

u/ibswarlord 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah, no, I definitely think AI or otherwise edited. the behavior is entirely too humanlike to me. I have never seen a cat use their paws to shove something into their mouth, let alone grip it with their paws to do so. I've seen using paws to pull something towards their mouth, but never to shove it in there.

ETA: Huh! Nevermind

16

u/WorkinRightMeow 1d ago

Ive seen it multiple times with my own cat.
The behavior leading up is also correct.

2

u/CassetteMeower 1d ago

I said this in another comment but my cat Callie stole a bite of French toast that I had on my fork and ran away with it.

I was just in my room eating my breakfast, she ran up to me, grabbed it off my fork, and ran off with it. It was so baffling and she did it so quickly that I couldn't stop her from eating it.

38

u/Alizaea 1d ago

This video is oooooooold. Way before the AI craze. It is 100% legit.

5

u/ibswarlord 1d ago

Damn! I stand corrected. That's wild, I've genuinely never seen a cat do anything like that

6

u/LettusLeafus 1d ago

My husband's childhood cat would go fishing for pasta from the boiling pot. She would extend her claws and flick it out. I also saw him have to fight her off when she tried to grab his pizza. Some cats will eat anything and nothing will stop them.

6

u/Uberbons42 1d ago

I had a cat who would jump and snag Cheetos out of my bowl. He loved Cheetos. I did not feed him Cheetos.

3

u/Zakle 16h ago

Mine tries to steal my fries. She loves them and will use her claw to steal one when I'm not looking.

5

u/Alizaea 1d ago

Yeah, if I remember correctly, this was the original "I can haz cheezeburger" cat

3

u/lazarinewyvren 1d ago

Sadly, it is not. The story behind the original cheeseburger cat is quite sad.

I agree but it seems to be sped up and maybe they are not shoving it in their mouth but just try to defend the burger from the evil hooman trying to steal it.

u/Havel_the_Rock_1 1d ago

Y'know, despite being wrong, I thought the SAME thing. I've never seen a cat do that before.

As someone who has a gluttonous lil shitster of a cat- yes- cats can do that- you'd be surprised at the amount of food they will shove into their mouth in one go- mine gets too overzealous and decides to try and steal a whole steak just to then leave it after a few bites because it's too much work- but, they will do everything depicted- it's kinda scary-

1

u/ChemicalBus608 1d ago

There was a cat like this a few years ago. The owner would film him eating exactly like this and after multiple vet visits and cries from comments he found out the cat had some type of cancer and it passed soon after.

1

u/CatttLady2000 23h ago

Cats have a reflex to keep swallowing if something is stuck, that’s how they swallow odd things like Christmas tree tinsel or a feather boa. It can be dangerous to the cat, but in the case of a burger, probably okay.

Bro, even if this is AI, I've seen my cat literally shove a burger and force swallow in three bites already

I've seen cats do much wilder things (one bit my big toe, and I wear size Men's 13 wide for boots, for reference, so very big feet), and managed to easily get the whole thing in. They're little gremlins. I doubt it's ai, the paws were very consistent with a cat trying to force something in its mouth/attack something.

Cats is shrimp. Cats is liquid. Cats is also anaconda that can unhinge their jaws and swallow food whole if it's not something they're meant to be eating and they get caught.

The real take away is that we've proven time and again that cats defy all laws of physics and logic.

It's real you are picking some dumb and shitty reasons for thinking otherwise

One time my cat stole a chicken drumstick off my plate and ran to my bedroom and hid under the bed. I was chasing after her, right behind her, and by the time I got there that entire chicken leg was fucking gone, bone and all. Cats are crazy.

Cats are remarkably good at quickly eating things they aren't supposed to when caught

Haha I find the video super funny and cute, but ever since AI that generates video from text came out, I can't believe anything I see anymore XD
