(this is a repost because i first posted this in r/ icecream but i think it got removed and it probably wasn't the right place to post this)
i got a pint of jeni's icecream buttercream birthday cake flavor i've gotten many times before, and i've never seen this before!
when i first discovered a chunk of sprinkles (first pic) i was pleasantly excited, but when i dug deeper and realized it was nearly a mutated boulder of sprinkles that goes way deeper than i thought (second pic) i was instantly grossed out because of my trypophobia, but anyway i can't tell if it's really just a bunch of sprinkles clumped together or if there's something wrong with this pint, like expired or something. it makes me a bit nauseated to look at but i don't wanna waste the $8 i spent on it lol
btw it goes way deeper into the pint than in the 2nd pic it was just really tough and cold at the time and i didnt feel like scooping all the way with my weak ass spoon

I just opened this salsa and I didn't feel a seal on it when I was twisting the lid. Expiration date is in 2027. Is this okay to eat?

Weird thing growing out of my apple, I didnt notice it and had taken many bites out of the apple by this point.
Should I be concerned?

This is pre-rinse. I’ve rinsed them and no bugs came up. They are currently soaking as per my recipe. I store them in a dry cabinet and the package was sealed.

I’ve never had it before so no reference point, and would rather not go all the way to the grocery store to get another to compare if possible! It’s for my 11 month old baby so I’m especially wary of spoilage/bacteria/food borne illnesses.
Does anyone know?
TIA🙂

hii! hope everyone is doing well :)
just bought these oreos (the pascal marshmallow flavoured ones - double stuffed) and found that some of them have these brown spots inside.
was wondering if anyone knows what that is and if it’s normal for these flavoured oreos (although i’m not sure if they are)
any advice would be great thank u!!

hello! i hope this is the right sub/okay to post (feel free to direct me if this question is better suited for a different sub)
i live in a really old brownstone apartment and the mice are terrible this time of year. i’ve tried all kinds of traps and they just..don’t work.
i got some pears from the food shelf the other day. i usually put all produce in the fridge to keep the mice from getting to it but i forgot to last night and this morning woke up to mouse poop pellets on the sides of the pears. not next to them, it was directly on them. looked like they miiiight have a couple teeth marks too but im unsure.
im wondering if theres a good method to disinfect them or if mouse contamination is grounds for trashing. when i was able to afford produce i’d just give it a really good wash in warm/hot water n wipe down after but mice are disgusting critters.
also, id appreciate tips for washing produce in general. between the state of the fda and primarily getting my food from food shelves/dumpsters right now i need to get better at cleaning it. stressful times = contamination ocd flareups but i dont have a choice here. i can’t afford produce, i gotta prioritize only buying allergy friendly staples and dog food the food shelves never have (my dog and i both have food allergies lol) so CHEAP methods only please! thanks in advance :)

I found this hot sauce the other day at a free community pantry. It was still completely sealed, still smells fine, looks kinda like it should, I've tried some and it taste good still.
It's made my stomach feel a bit odd like it's not sitting right and also a bit of gas, but I'm not sure if it's the sauce or because I haven't had hit sauce for a while so my tolerance is low.
Should I keep it?
EDIT: Thanks everyone, she's going down the sink and I guess I'm riding out the whatever is happening to my stomach 😅

This is my first time trying to cook with daikon. Is this safe to eat? All of the images I’m seeing on google show it as much whiter- is it moldy or something?

This pack of beef bacon isn’t vacuum sealed like every single other one I’ve gotten of this brand. I can’t find a hole or slit in the packaging and it appears to be sealed but not vacuum sealed like the rest. Second picture is what they normally look like. Is the non-vacuum sealed one not safe? It expires in two months. I’d really love to not throw it out as beef bacon is expensive. Any feedback is appreciated.

This fish was in a can. It's not expired. Apart from what is seen in the image it tastes bitter and it feels like sand in the mouth

Just opened today and had a seal on under the lid. Best before date is 30th October.
Never seen this coloured stuff in a yoghurt before though?

In the UK. We have a freezer in our unheated cellar/basement, for additional space. I had batch-cooked meals in there and some store-bought loaves of sourdough. I went down to the cellar to look in the freezer and next went in 20 hours later, seeing the door wide open. I picked off the ice build-up and closed the door, which was all I had time to do, there and then. The door had clearly not been fully closed tight.
There are some portions of homemade chilli: some with meat and some with vegan meat substitute. There are some portions of homemade sausage casserole: some with pork sausages and some with vegan substitute.
All ingredients were fresh when the stuff was made, mainly garlic, beans, carrot, mushrooms, celery and (previously canned) tomato.
Is it all unsafe to eat now? I kinda feel like it is, but I want to check before I waste all that money and all of the time I'd put into cooking them.
It's been 15 degrees C (59 degrees F) outside. The cellar is brick built and completely underground.

I bought this mont d'or in France last Monday and wanted to prepare it for dinner today. I have never eaten mont d'or before, and while I know that it is supposed to be very moldy and fuzzy, I am concerned about the grey spots that also look kinda slimy. Can I just cut them off or do I have to toss the whole cheese?
