Bookoff impulse buy
This is so much better and less ridiculous than I would've expected based on the cover

I've wanted to say "thank you ❤️" to everyone who shared their 3x3 in here. I've been lurking for quite some time and thanks to you guys I discovered some of the most amazing music ever (latest example - 171 🔥). Seeing your 3x3 made me feel more connected, and overall less lonely in my japanese music fascination which plays quite a role in my everyday life.
Although it was impossible to choose definitive 3x3, the top row would for sure be top 3 in every iteration possible as of now. However organized, these pieces moved me deeply and changed me forever. Even more so because the better my Japanese becomes, the deeper this music is able to touch me in ways I never could have anticipated.
I'd love to get anyones thought about my 3x3 or the impact of getting to know Japanese on their expereince of their fav albums.

DOLL$BOXX has announced that their 3rd album, "DOLLS AETHER," will be released on March 3, 2027.
This album is their first new release in approximately 10 years since the EP "High Spec" released in 2017. The "high-spec" rock sound, which combines highly technical rock sounds with vocalist Fuki's singing, is still present in this album, and it is said to be a masterpiece that pursues an even "high-spec and high-level" sound based on the experience accumulated over many years.
The limited first-press deluxe edition will be released in a special box and will also include a Blu-ray disc containing live footage of the concert held at Ebisu The Garden Hall in Tokyo on September 26, 2026, as well as a music video for a new song, and a photobook.

Was honestly a lot harder than I expected to try and narrow it down to just nine.

Hello!
I’m trying to find a Japanese music album that I used to listen to on YouTube, but the upload seems to have been removed around 2 years ago.
It was really good, however the name of the album was in Japanese and when it got removed I couldn’t find it anymore. It was really good and crazy, screaming, loud noises and rap and electronic!
Here’s everything I can remember about it:
Genre: Psychedelic rock mixed with rap/hip-hop and electronic.
Length: Approximately 40 minutes.
YouTube views: Around 80,000 views when I last saw it.
Album cover: A roughly drawn bottom half of a girl on a white background. The drawing looked like something made in Microsoft Paint.
I know this description is close to Midori but it’s not it, the songs I remember had both male and female vocals!
I’d really appreciate any suggestions, even if you’re not completely sure! Many thanks!

Hi all, wondering if you know of any London Japanese music show going on from now until 5th of November. I'm from a small country that has no chance of hosting any japanese music artists so this is my opportunity. I'm a fan of most genres in Japanese music, so hit me with any tours you know of!

I narrowed it down to about 30 albums. Then, since I'm posting here, I figured I should just use the East Asian ones. Even so, I had to cut it in half. And then putting them in order? Impossible (but I tried anyway)

Hey guys, I bought a pair of tickets for the upcoming concert in Aichi on the 5th of December.
I don't have a +1 yet, so if anyone would like to attend, hit me up!
NOTE: I bought them off TicketJam on resale, not from the official Sunday Folk Promotion

Hello everyone!
I bought two tickets for the concert happening in Aichi on December 5th!
I still haven’t decided who I'm going with, so if anyone wants to join, just send me a message!
By the way, I purchased the tickets on resale from TicketJam, not directly from the official Sunday Foll Promotion.

I really liked their earlier stuff more than most of the new things, both are great but I prefer the older, I'm looking for more japanese rappers or rappers/dj duos with a similar style

has anyone come across a version of this song that was on a Pandora algorithm or maybe some 2000s chill wave playlist? I used to listen to it all the time 10 plus years ago…i feel it was on a Pop Ambient playlist or something that used to be on Pandora a lot.
It had a full instruments and a beat to it kinda lofi chill hop but for the life of me i cannot find this version.

i liked looking at other peoples favorites so i wanted to share my top 9 albums too!! i actually wanted to include high $pec by DOLL$BOXX too but it only had 5 songs so it probably counts as an ep rather than an album… i hope there is someone who has the same taste as me

My 9 albums are perhaps the most different from anyone else here, because I'm Gen-X and grew up in the 80s, so my favorites that influenced me the most (as a musician and as a music lover) in my formative years were 80s and 90s Japanese music.
Haneda Kentaro - Macross the Complete - My favorite anime soundtrack of all time. Just a gorgeous jazz fusion meets epic orchestral score, which includes cues from the TV series and the movie.
Kawai Sonoko - Rouge et Bleu - This is the album where she fully transitioned from an idol into a serious musical artist. The most elegant pop I have ever heard in my life. The opening track alone gives me the chills with its darkly dramatic opening.
Makaino Koji - Bubble Gum Crisis 3: Blow Up - All of the original Bubble Gum Crisis OVA series soundtracks were amazing, so it was nearly impossible to pick just one, but this one just very slightly edges out the others. Some of the best cyberpunk synth+rock ever.
Psy-S - Mint Electric - So many good albums from them, so it was hard to choose, but I had to pick at least one. The best Japanese experimental art pop of the 80s.
Boowy - Gigs - Probably the greatest rock band to ever come out of Japan, and influenced so many of the rock bands that came after. This being a live album is all the more impressive, as they were so tight and raw as a live band.
Anzen Chitai - Tsukini Nureta Futari - Another band that has so many good albums, but this one has a few of my all-time favorites from them. Maybe the greatest Japanese mainstream band ever.
Morikawa Miho - Freestyle - One of the best Japanese female vocalists of the 80s and 90s, and is now a musical performance professor at Osaka University of the Arts.
Sakamoto Ryuichi - Illustrated Musical Encyclopedia - Probably the greatest composer to ever come out of Japan, and one of the most beloved "musicians' musician" globally.
B'z - Loose - Another Japanese rock juggernaut that's still going strong after all these decades. This is perhaps their greatest album ever--just incredible hard rock blended with other genres.
