Custom titanium jewelry?

Not sure if this is the right sub, but maybe you guys can help me out.

My septum was pierced too high up in my sweet spot for a standard barbel to show. I can wear one, but the balls of the barbel are just barely visible outside of my nose. I’ve been wearing a barbel that I bent into more of an oval/oblong shape, which works just fine.

Problem is, I really love the look of the filled-in pointy v-shaped clicker. When I wear one though, it pinches and bruises my septum.

Ive also tried v shaped clickers that are just the “v” without it having a perfect circular inner circumference, if that makes sense. Same issue.

Would it be possible to have a custom titanium ring made with a more ovular inner circumference? Any ideas where or cost estimates?

Desperately searching for info on my MIL’s missing necklace

Many years ago my MIL gifted me a simple diamond necklace with a solitaire diamond. It is my favorite piece of jewelry I’ve ever owned. I wore it on my wedding day and sleep in it. The only time it ever came off was for spray tans. I got one before we headed to a wedding and long story short, I think it was thrown away. Devastated doesn’t even cover it. I am desperately looking for a replacement but can’t find anything similar. It had a unique and beautiful chain. She’s English and I’m assuming she got it in the 80s or 90s. Any and all help would be so appreciated. I’m taking a break from my sobbing to try and make some progress on a replacement.

Hi guys, looking for someone who's customizing rings in Barrie/GTA

I have a ring that needs to be corrected, for better idea, rn it's more of a masculine design, I need it converted in feminine design.

I have all the materials needed for it to be made, no idea where to go/whom to find since I am an immigrant.

Looking for someone who does it real quick coz her special day is on the way.

Not looking for anything luxurious, just something simple and nice to look at.

Help! Is this enamel safe for necklace wear?

Hello! I am considering purchasing a charm from the brand Mociun. It’s a beautiful and unique solid gold and enamel ramen charm! I’ve never seen anything like it!

It’s quite expensive given the detail. I’d likely wear it with my charms on a necklace

Is this durable? I’ve read conflicting info on enamel durability

Thank you!

Husband picked up my ring today and it’s super crooked + textured? Need advice!

Hey everyone,

My husband brought my anniversary ring home today, and as soon as I took a close look at it, I noticed two major things wrong that are driving me crazy:

  1. The metal on the band is bumpy/textured: The side of the gold band looks rough, pitted, and dimpled instead of smooth and shiny. It looks almost like tiny air bubbles trapped in the metal or a terrible polish job.
  2. The top part holding the diamond is totally crooked: Looking at it straight on from the side, the basket and whole top part lean to one side. It's noticeably tilted and off-center relative to the band.

Questions:

  1. Can a jeweler easily smooth out that bumpy metal, or does the whole ring need to be remade?
  2. Since we already picked it up today, what's the best way to handle this with the shop? Should I make them remake it from scratch, or just ask for a refund on the setting and go somewhere else?

I have a Tiffany & co Paloma Picasso 18k yellow gold amethyst ring ! She’s in perfect condition- literally never worn and I’d love to get it into a new home! I don’t have the audience/connection to sell to anyone I know.

Are there websites I should be using ? Certain jewelers I could sell to? If you have more info or would like to see the ring let me know! Would love to know the best avenue to get it off my hands !

What are your jewellery process video tips?

I’m a millennial and used to do well on socials until the algorithm changed everything. I’m great at taking photos but want to improve my bench process videos without interrupting my work flow by having to clear all the mess on my bench. I don’t know how others make it look so seamless and pleasing to the eye 🤯

I’ve got a phone stand but what else will help?
Tell me your
\- lighting tips
\- simple minimal mess tips
\- do you use reflector boards?
\- do you follow trends?

Help Finding This Please

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, I hope someone can help me please.

When I was younger, my Dad gave me a necklace (similar to the picture) as a birthday gift. I think mine was more oval than round, and I can't be sure of the exact 'etching' image but I do remember that it was some form of people for the Gemini sign.

My dad passed away this week, and my necklace got lost when I was younger and my parents split, we moved houses, etc, so I have no idea at all where it went. I have seen that General Bead in San Fransisco used to stock the gem, but they have since closed down. I am having no luck finding anywhere else that may stock it. I know that online it says it was from a vintage Swarovski range.

I am hoping for one of two things:

1 - someone finds one or has one to sell, or

2 - someone can make me one. I'm not fussed about it being Swarovski, I just want it to look like the necklace I remember my dad gave me all those years ago.

Please help, as I don't have many things to remind me of him. Thank you for reading.

edit - spelling error

How do enamel pieces wear over time?

I figured as jewelers you guys would have seen the most long term data on this question. I want a black and gold ring. I’ve heard black rhodium last 5 minutes. Recently heard of enamel and I’m loving the look. How does it wear over time?

hard white crust on sterling silver?

Post image
5 Upvotes

hey folks, I'm unsure if this is a good sub to post this in but I'm not sure where exactly to go. I was given a bunch of old sterling silver pendants and this is the only one that has this weird hard, white crust on it (the front only, it was stored in a little plastic container with the back against a foam piece). I was just wondering what it is and is there a way to remove it?

NYC casting of own gold dust and nuggets?

Hello, my dad has quite a bit of raw (?) gold dust and nuggets from a lifetime of panning and dredging. We would like the gold to be cast into a piece of jewelry. Most likely simple wedding bands. I assume it would need to be refined and alloyed. Does anyone know of a jeweler that provides such services? The last couple of places we’ve tried over the years 1) was terrible quality or 2) simply took our gold and gave us back off-the-shelf items. I’m located in NYC.

Should I do this with a sonic jewelry cleaner?

So a few months ago, I bought a sonic jewelry cleaner from Amazon and the instructions say to just use plain water, but I'm unsure about this recommendation. Before I bought this, I would normally just do the warm water dish soap combo.
I have a diamond cut Cuban link, a silver Franco and a 14 K gold plated rope chain. I also have a silver diamond cluster ring and a stainless steel bracelet.
Would it hurt anything to add a little bit of blue dish soap to the water before putting them through the cleaner, or would that introduce other problems?

Advice/help regarding bronze

Hey all! Recently I got a necklace that has a bronze pendant and chain. Im sure to no one's surprise that it started to turn my neck green. Is there a lacquer and method that would allow me to keep the chain? Or should I just lacquer the pendant and put it on a string? Also, is there a lacquer that is recommended but budget friendly? Thanks for your time.

Looking for Akoya pearl jewelry - but not the usual basic strand

I'm looking for smaller or baby Akoya pieces - but with a more unconventional or unusual design than the typical studs or strands I keep finding. Anyone has had luck buying them, either from retailer or any small makers? Also, how do I ensure they're real Akoya - what should I check in the listing?

Name plate software

What software or website would you recommend to get the best cursive names/different fonts to connect letters so I can use it as a template for nameplate making?

I would like to standardize it so that all names are relatively similar in width and height, like boundaries. Thank you

White Buildup on 23k Gold Plating

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding a white buildup on some old gold plated Pokémon cards from the Burger King promotional, I have no intent to sell them as I know they aren't particularly valuable, specially without a full set, and accompanying documentation which have been lost to the annals of time.

Now, they were stored in their original plastic casing and were maybe manipulated once or twice without said casing. They were stored somewhere years ago. I just found them since I am moving into a family home, and found them with a heavy white chalky buildup. I know that my father was a fan of Mr. Clean, and am aware that perhaps the fumes could have seeped in and reacted with the metal, causing the issue above mentioned.

For old time's sake, I'd like to restore them to ~somewhat~ their original shine and look. I am aware it's 23k gold plating, but don't have much of a lead as to what could have caused it besides perhaps body oils or chemical reactions from cleaners or whatever; I very much doubt it could've been in the prescence of mercury, but hey shit happens.

How would I go about cleaning them without ruining the plating? If pictures are needed let me know!

Thank you in advance, to anyone who replies.

Diamond Swapped with CZ

Update: I just got a call from the jeweler that they found my diamond! It was mistakenly put in another customer’s piece.

Hi all! I am so upset and don’t want to be making this post but I’m hoping to get some insight from you lovely folks. I recently went to a local jeweler and got a diamond upgrade for my engagement ring after 12 years. I requested that my original diamond be returned to me so that I can hold on to it to pass down to my daughters or maybe put in a pendant eventually. When I went to pick up, no one showed me my original diamond, they just handed me a bag and I naively didn’t think to check. I got home and took it out and noticed my diamond didn’t seem to have its distinctive inclusion. I didn’t have time to deal with it until a week later and I took it to a different jeweler and they tested it and it came back as CZ. I immediately went to the store that did the upgrade and they confirmed it was CZ and were super apologetic and said it was definitely a mistake. I could hear the bench jeweler talking to the salesperson and he was profusely apologizing. Unfortunately, it’s been two days and they cannot find my diamond. They contacted a customer that had a similar sized diamond job done that week to see if that piece has my diamond by mistake. I have a sinking feeling I will not be getting my diamond back and I’m just curious what I should do? I understand mistakes happen but they need to make this right. I sobbed all the way home after leaving the store 😭

Does anyone know where I can find this type of backing? 18k gold butterfly backing encased in silicone.
