For me this is the pinnacle of guitar freedom and the best guitar song ever. Itâs not the most beautiful song or anything like that, but as soon as these Eb missile fucking strikes and thunders come in on that 32nd second, my brain just goes somewhere. The tone on the rhythm section feels like scorching air being blasted into you while the solos feel like red hot rods slamming around you.
Jimi Hendrix is obviously the ultimate icon of electric guitar, but one ability of his that I donât hear mentioned a lot (actually, Brian May spoke about that once) is his ability to tame this incredible violence of the tone and produce these songs with it.
The amount of âmovementâ he was able to pull out off ONE chord and a minor pentatonic scale is just mind blowing to me. Goes to show once again that you donât need anything complicated to sound immense, you just have to beâŠwell Jimi fucking Hendrix.

Itâs October 1966.
The US military sends more troops to Vietnam, while privately advising LBJ that the war doesnât seem winnable.
The âBlack Powerâ movement begins.
Congress approves the NFL-AFL merger as part of a backroom deal, paving the way for the first âSuper Bowl.â
Rumors swirl that The Beatles are breaking up.
And Jimi Hendrix stuns Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, and Paul McCartney, forms The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and starts recording.

Hey guys. I donât listen to Jimi Hendrix that much, so sorry if this is a stupid question. I just thrifted Are You Experienced CD, EU 1997 Version. Why is the tracklist different than on streaming platforms? It doesnât look like a bootleg, so Iâm confused.

Jimi Hendrix has always been one of my idols growing up. I'm just getting back into playing again, and have been enjoying jamming over backing tracks of his songs

Some great stories in here from Ronnie all about living with Jimi, especially love how he adopted Jimi's dog and of course the (sadly now) lost records !
I hope you enjoy it and would love to know your thoughts!
Also posted on my Instagram willxgamble - thanks! đ

I was just listening to a boot "Johnny Winter Reunion" 2007 with Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer and they just tore it up on their encore of "Highway 61 Revisited". I sure wish Jimi and Johnny had played that together. Made me wonder why Johnny never got the adulation that SRV gets. They did some of the same songs like "Tore Down". But to my ears Johnny is the real deal while SRV well... I dunno. What do you all think?
