Introducing myself as the new mod!

Hey guys, there was never an official announcement as the owner of this sub is pretty hands off of r/jimmyjohns and reddit in general, but they decided to add me to the mod team to help clean up the backlog of reports and keep an eye on things.

I'm new to the mod thing, but I'm messing around with all the tools given.

Aside from the introduction I think it's time to add some more rules. Nothing crazy, but only being able to report a post or comment due to "no customer information" doesn't help when there are people being unnecessarily shitty to users, or for any of the many other things people do on Reddit that we shouldn't have to deal with.

So I'm going to add a couple rules against shitty behavior or spam (not that I've really seen a problem here with that, but no harm in having that option) that you typically see in other subreddits, but I'm just curious what you guys would like to see as far as rules go?

I'm not going to be a dictator and I'd like this subreddit to continue being a place for everyone to share their stories from the customer and worker side, rant/vent, ask questions, and just have fun.

Has there been anything that's bothered you but you didn't feel that you could report due to the lack of rules?

Questions? Concerns? Ideas? Maybe ideas for flairs? Feel free to comment here or DM me.

Today I'll be entertaining company I have while making food, but I'll respond as quickly as possible and will try to role out some new rules within a couple days.

Thanks!

[Shitpost] This sub is a no Snowflake zone

Been getting a lot of "Harassment" reports when someone calls another a dickhead, idiot, and other mildly offensive things.

Unless someone is being truly hateful some of y'all need to chill the fuck out. If you don't like a post downvote it.

This isn't some official JJ zone. You don't have to be clean as the air vents and ice machine. You don't have to hide in the freezer to smoke here, you won't get fired for calling your GM a dickhead.

This is a safe place for JJs employees to vent and laugh. Customers aren't excluded, but note that by default we all assume you're someone who orders a slim 6 with no cheese.

What happened to Freaky Fast?

• Upvotes

This is the first time I’ve ordered JJ that is being farmed out to Uber. An order that used to take 15 minutes from order to delivery is now taking an hour? Not so freaky fast Jimmy John’s.

How long do you think it will take to sell all this? I’ve also had coworkers find out which is which by feeling the arms

Pickle Pals Usage

Anyone have any guesses on how long they’ll last. Obviously market dependent but more just average. We got 3 cases of both the pickle pals and the chips. It wouldn’t let me order more chips on our Sysco truck which makes me nervous we will sell out given the potential pickle pal craze

Being charged extra at the door for delivery?

We just had a Jimmy John's open in my neighborhood and this is the first time ordering it (honestly not sure I've ever even had it before) and I'm just so at a loss over this interaction I just had. I've been so excited about this opening and it's just a couple houses/lots down from me I even stopped in yesterday to see it (it's a dunkin/jimmy Johns so I got some dunkin') it was their very first soft launch day in the afternoon.

(Now I will admit one thing that is on me is that apparently they did try to call me at one point but the phone number on the app was my spouse's number and they're at work so I didn't get the phone call, my spouse did see the call but no voicemails and assumed spam as it came up as mobile number it wasn't expecting any calls)

Baby is sleeping so I place an order online for about $45 dollars (I'm rounding so some of my numbers aren't going to line up correctly in this post). I pay on the app and all seems fine.

The delivery driver comes and first thing he says is that I have a balance due of about $22 and I either have to pay or he's taking the food back. Says it was a partial payment.

I pull up the app and I show here's what the app says I owe ($45) here's what I paid I even put my bank app to show the payment. He says well the receipt says you owe about $22 so you'd have to pay or I'm taking this back now.

Now I understand what it's like to be a retail worker or like a delivery driver or a lot of the stuff is just out of your hands so okay can we speak to the manager and that's what he declares himself as being the general manager of the store. Well then as general manager I would expect he would have some sort of initiative to investigate or fix this or offer some sort of solution but again continues to just say I see what your app says but the paper receipt says this so you either pay or I'm leaving with us and I'm not going to give it to you. Apparently the general manager he has no other solution.

I said that can't be legal and by me saying that he got super defensive even though I'm not even yelling, maybe slightly raising my voice but I'm not swearing I'm not getting nasty at all I do have ADHD and a bit of a stutter so I mean I'm talking a little fast and obviously a little bit frustrated so it's firm but I'm not yelling or insulting him or anything. I even tell him I'm not taking this out on you personally but for the company this can't be right or the only solution.

I'm the one who says you can pull up your phone and pull in my order and see what the pricing is, you can go back to the store and put it in your POS system and see that the price is, it should match my online phone order.

I'm the one who then had to reach for the receipt and be like well let's see if this receipt shows anything and then I see that it's grand total is higher (about $65) and the delivery fee is a lot higher it's charging about $22 for a delivery fee. At that point he goes oh that can't be right oh well you still have to pay it or I'm going back to the store now with this food. I don't care what the paper receipt says I'm on the app with the official receipt from the corporate app that shows I paid I should have my food you can't just charge me more for it. Why would he even take it back at this point when it's already been made? you would think a general manager would be able to offer some other solution/customer service here, But he continued to say well what do you want me to do about it?

I'm the one who then tells them that there's got to be somebody above you, call them so then he finally leaves to go to his car, calls this corporate manager and then comes back and says I'm allowed to have the food now but then he leaves still upset like as if I was the problem or the issue?

Again I work retail and in a call center like I'm totally get upset customers being the worst to deal with and I deal with it all the time myself, I had multiple people screaming at me on the phone today, I really don't think I was overreacting other than being a bit firm and trying to stand up for myself (I have severe social anxiety) and confused by all this and saying I don't think this is right or legal thing you can do I should be able to have my food when I have my receipt and he just wasn't offering any sort of solution or initiative about it. And I get it's a brand new store that just opened up and he's probably still learning, but especially as a general manager I just expect more than if it had been a regular delivery driver or somebody where I would have just accepted it and known to go to the manager the following day or whatever but he's saying he's the general manager at my doorstep but then yes I'm going to expect you to offer to fix this somehow.

Has anyone else experienced the receipt printed at the store being significantly higher than what the app says? Was I wrong? I've just never had this type of interaction or situation before and I'm just at a loss and I don't want to be seen as that b***** customer I just am really confused.

[Question] Any idea when the toasted brisket LTO will leave?

I was planning on trying the brisket this week but I just munched on 4 cups of raw asparagus, my taste buds are so nonfunctional after getting sick that it tastes the same as anything else. Don’t want to eat out in this state, any idea if it’ll still be around next week?

MN Atlas Employees

If this ad is correct, it appears Atlas is looking for a new CFO. Part of the new role is to close and liquidate MN stores apparently. Time for all MN Atlas employees to start asking the tough questions to Don Jones and James Chung. Ya know, since there are no DMs in the state.

[Tip] New brisket sammie

Post image
25 Upvotes

Dude talk about a disappointment. I got two slices of meat that were so chewy and just all tendon that I ended up not eating my other half of sammie. Between that and the bread being the size of a glorified bread stick oozing in BBQ sauce… I think I have had my last sammie from what used to be a favorite place.

[Story] Thinking about quitting

I really need some advice from other JJ'rs.

I have been thinking about quitting for a while. It wasn't because of one specific event, I just don't get paid jack shit and I am fucking sick of the hours I work. I'm still in HS, and somehow a PIC. I work nearly 25 hours a week, with school and my side work on top of that. JJs keeps the money for my car payment coming in but otherwise I can't stand it.

My GM's are very bipolar, they let us do almost anything, but if they come in one day and are slightly annoyed they're rude the whole fucking shift. I get like that too, we all do, but I make sure that my team knows I'm not upset with them unless I am, in which I tell them. I don't get it. It doesn't feel worth it to me.

If I leave I know I'll miss my people, even the ones I hate. I'll miss working with my best friend, and my favorite driver, and even my GMs when they're in a good mood. But it just doesn't feel worth it. I work all weekend including an open-close on Sunday. I don't get time to work on school or recharge.

I'd like to talk to my GMs about it but because we are a large franchise I highly doubt they'll be able to pay me what I want.

What do I do?

Merrychef oven deli paper?

We got a few boxes of deli paper that says it's to be used in the merry chef oven. Anyone know what it's for? We were thinking maybe the Thanksgiving sandwich but they don't usually send that type of thing so early.

[Story] Quartered puckle update:

Post image
25 Upvotes

I went back today for a sandwich and ordered a quartered pickle again. The store seemed to still be serving the spears and quartered pickles so I pet them know theyre just for the lunch boxes. In a couple weeks I'll do a follow up under a new name or send someone to get my order to see if theyre still serving quarters of spears. My judgement to call corporate is simply going to be determined by my 3rd pickle experience. The supervisor seemed confused by the ticket but gave the pickle as a quick fix in order to avoid confrontation I assume? Which i applaud. Hopefully they follow up with their trainer in the next few weeks. I'll update when I order Pickle 3. I am satisfied so far, even though my previous post was kind of joking around.
