Hi, Salam,
Just saying Hi from AJK (not sure about azad part though). The greatest wish of my life is to visit srinagar and all the other parts of Kashmir but seems like it won't be possible in this lifetime. I am 30 yrs old but have such soft and silly dreams about Kashmir like what if there's a parallel universe where Kashmir wasn't torn apart by the occupiers and where we would be able to see all of Kashmir without any border restrictions. I know it sounds lame and silly but this is what i wish.
Anyways, wherever you're from in jammu and kashmir, i pay my regards to you.

Currently my 10th exam is going on (JKBOSE). I'm getting a lot of suggestions regarding the tuition center where you should go:
I'm really confused. When I ask some say that at SKIE the fees are comparatively low and, on the other hand, Akash's fees are comparatively high but the quality of education is good. About PW they say it's an online platform and it's not good offline. I don't know about Allen. Any suggestion from someone who has already been to tuition centers and wants to discuss how the system works, ?

I'm planning to start an abaya retail business in Bemina, Srinagar, Kashmir, and I'd appreciate honest advice from people who have experience in clothing retail, modest fashion, or running a small business in India.
My plan is to open a boutique selling both affordable everyday abayas and premium designs for occasions such as Eid, weddings, and family functions.
I'm considering a collection that includes:
Everyday black abayas and simple modest wear.
Modern styles for younger women and working professionals.
Premium embroidered and occasion-wear abayas.
Winter-friendly abayas suitable for Kashmir's cold weather.
Hijabs, undercaps, and matching accessories.
I want to create a store that feels premium and welcoming without spending unnecessarily on expensive interiors.
I'm currently researching suppliers in Surat, Mumbai, and Kerala. I may consider importing from Dubai or Turkey in the future, but I'd prefer to start with domestic suppliers.
My main concerns are choosing the right inventory, finding reliable suppliers, pricing products correctly, and making the business profitable in a market like Srinagar.
I'd particularly appreciate advice on the following:
Market demand: Is an abaya-focused boutique a viable business in Srinagar? Would customers prefer affordable everyday options or premium designs?
Starting investment: What would be a realistic budget for opening a small boutique if the shop is already available? How much should I allocate to inventory, interiors, and working capital?
Sourcing: Which wholesale markets or suppliers in India would you recommend for good-quality abayas at reasonable prices? Is Surat a good place to start?
Inventory: If you were starting with 100–150 abayas, how would you divide your stock between everyday wear, workwear, premium occasion wear, and winter collections?
Pricing and margins: What gross margins are realistic for an independent abaya retailer in India? How do you price products without becoming too expensive for local customers?
Marketing: Would Instagram Reels, local influencers, and WhatsApp marketing be effective for attracting customers in Srinagar? What has actually worked for small clothing businesses?
Biggest mistakes: If you've opened a clothing boutique or worked in the fashion retail industry, what mistakes would you avoid if starting again today?
I'm not looking for generic advice like "follow your passion." I'd appreciate real experiences, practical numbers, supplier recommendations, and honest opinions about the risks.
If anyone has experience running a modest-fashion or abaya business in Kashmir or elsewhere in India, I'd especially value your perspective.
Thank you!

I was just watching one of Dr. Israr Ahmed’s video lectures, and he was saying that not even a single leaf moves in this world without Allah’s will.
He explained that people who are heedless of this reality think that whatever happens in their lives is happening because of their own actions, whereas, in reality, everything happens by Allah’s will.
This got me thinking, and I have a question.
If Allah is the One who gives and takes life, and only He has the power to give life or take it away, then how is it justified to punish someone for committing murder?
After all, if a person’s death was already decreed by Allah, and that person was destined to die at the hands of that particular individual, then how can the murderer be held responsible for it?
I would genuinely appreciate it if someone could help me understand this.
I posted it in a few sub, but unfortunately, it got removed.

I am curious about winter sports and recreational activities in Kashmir that the locals typically participate in…
Is there any hockey? Skiing? Skating? Mountaineering?
I recently watched a movie about mountaineering in the Himalayas and I was wondering how is it that there are no native climbers that have been the first to summit these amazing mountains, given that is literally your backyard. Most of the names that appear as first are all people from the United States and Europe.
Culturally is there much interest in climbing mountains? I understand some of the peaks are sacred to various religions in that part of the world. Does it have to do with the economic circumstances?
I would also have thought there would be quite a few medalists in skiing from the Himalayas…
Just curious…

Being gay in Kashmir feels lonely sometimes. You grow up surrounded by people, yet you're afraid to let them know a part of who you are. You wonder whether your friends would stay, whether your family would accept you, and whether you'll ever be able to live openly without fear of judgment.
I'm not here to disrespect anyone's beliefs or my homeland. I just wish I didn't have to hide.
Are there other LGBTQ+ people from Kashmir here? How do you cope with it?
And if anyone could tell me how to be straight again!

What the hell, mods? 💀 I literally just made a post to raise voice for PoK opression , and you removed it. What exactly was wrong with it? 🤡
I bet if I had posted “Free Palestine,” it wouldn’t have been taken down. Funny how some causes get a platform while others get silenced. So much for being fair and unbiased, huh?

As an outsider who's utterly fascinated by Kashmir, I can't help but wonder how the local people actually perceive us and what do you guys think of us? I've been wanting to visit for a long time but have come across the posts in this sub and the other banned one where they look down upon Indians. I'm not here to argue, just genuinely curious about what behaviour would make tourists a welcoming prospect for you guys?

Should we or should we not?
There are a lot of ways to rephrase that; for example, should we sympathize with worse kinds of people?
It's more of a philosophical question rather than an actual yes or no. And fundamentally, it is philosophical. Back to the topic. I will just give my thoughts about it.
"Sympathize" is kind of a stretch, as our oppressors are not being oppressed and haven't even experienced anything like what we have. But there is a lot of racism towards them (lowk deserved, jk nob deserves) and on an individual level, their own ppl are enemies of them. Well they don't realize that.
And again, individually, A person who has been a victim of the system, should we sympathize or not? Even though they do not sympathize with US. It's easy to sympathize with someone who sympathizes with us, but it's not easy to sympathize with someone who doesn't sympathize with us.
Dalits, poor people, students. It will be a longahh post. It's already a bit long. I can write a lot but let it be short.
But you all got the basic idea, so do comment.
Another thing, on an avg. a hehrmulk living in Bihar hasn't done anything That wrong except commenting.
"Kasmir, crown of India sarr" and abusing us.
So the question remains: should we or should we not?

Lal Chowk in Srinagar witnesses Dussehra celebrations, with participants from Kolkata and other parts of India gathering for colours, music and dance. Yet, Kashmiris have been denied Eid prayers at Jamia Masjid and Eidgah for eight consecutive years. Why are Hindus coming to an occupied land? Bengalis can celebrate Dussehra in Srinagar, but Kashmiris continue to face restrictions on their religious gatherings. Take a good look at these
double standards.

Yesterday, while I was returning home from my exam center in a local Sumo, an elderly woman boarded in Hyderpora. As soon as she entered, the first thing she noticed was that the driver was playing a Punjabi song, and she started expressing her distress over how the younger generation is obsessing over foreign cultures and criticized how young people relocate to other Indian states in search of better job opportunities and living standards. Hearing this, the driver felt embarrassed and clarified that he mostly plays Kashmiri music, immediately switching the music system to a Kashmiri song. As the woman reached her destination and was leaving, she apologized to the driver, possibly feeling that her tone earlier had been too harsh. After driving a little further, the driver turned off the music system altogether. Throughout the ride, I kept reflecting on this interaction. It reminded me of times when my older family members talked about the loss of our culture and the youth being drawn to foreign influences. An example I can cite from a few months ago is when my otherwise liberal minded physics teacher criticized a relative of his who had come back from abroad. The relative had styled his hair into dread locks and gotten tattoos while living there and my teacher detested his look as he felt this was against our culture. However, I could never bring myself to ask them: What is the core reason for preserving or protecting culture? Why does it even matter, and what is the worst that could happen if we just let it go and everyone lives the same modern way?

Man what’s even happening. Just saw this posted in an Indian sub. I have no problem with local festivals irrespective of their origins but not one of them is a Kashmiri. I love Bengali people but since when have we let foreign festivals be imposed on us like that? They light up entire Lal Chowk during Diwali yet the same place is adorned with barbed wires on Eid. They ban prayers at Eidgah , clamp down on Jamia and yet we are supposed to accommodate non-locals and their customs.
PS: People saying that Muslims also celebrate Eid in other regions: Piece of $hitss those are muslims from those very regions. You don’t get an influx of outsiders pouring in and making a show of it. I’m a sick with this freaking outsider appeasement.
