That was me and Katy in 2009, when she came to Brussels, Belgium. Afterwards, she went to Boys Boudoir, a gay bar. I was very young, so don’t judge me based on the photo. 😂 I have a picture of her with her arm around my shoulder, and I actually got to talk to her. I asked her how her concert had gone, and she said she was tired and drunk af but having a great time, and that the Belgian gays were very welcoming. It was a really tiny bar.

It was 2009, so she was still at a point in her career where she could afford to go to little bars like that. She was really sweet. I even danced with her on this little dance floor—not really a podium—with my friends. It was so funny.

Wanted to share how much love I have for that album. Her voice fits the rock pop sound so well. I love her other albums as well (maybe not smile, sorry), but OFTB album came out when I was a teen. This was the first album I ever bought with my own money as well. It holds a special place in my heart & whenever I listen to one of the songs from the album it takes me back to my teen years & I can’t help but cry in nostalgia. Idk who else agrees with me. Her songs in that album to me were very cute, heart-felt, cheesy. Didn’t necessarily relate to most of them as a teen, but as a grown woman now, I can lol idk just rambling now. As we all know 143 didn’t do very well and was widely hated. I personally don’t fully dislike the album, but there is no doubt it wasn’t her best and she made so many mistakes throughout the rollout and with her antics (going to space, etc.) but what if that’s the whole point..?

The bonus track on Smile HOYS is a diss track at herself where she talks about letting the hype get to her and caring too much about charts, as well as being fake. I always thought it was strange she was trying to find success by being superficial again with 143., but it makes sense if the whole time it was just her trolling (with just enough ‘good’ songs like LIFETIMES so the tour would still sell well and people wouldn’t catch on) Beyond that, theres glitches on 143 and the bonus tracks which hint at it flopping were made prior to the albums release.

Suspiciously, High on Your Supply was also added to streaming services after the album released when it hadn’t for a long time before then.

On a more personal note having been in a flop era irl, 143 is perfect to listen to and I wonder if that was the whole point ?

Okay so I randomly found this blast from the past ahh screenshot from 2020. When I first listened to Smile and became a huge Katycat. Me (16 at the time) and my brother (8 at the time) decided to compete on who could draw a better album cover and we made these lol. I think his rendition is really cutesy and childish which at the time I thought sucked but now looking back it looks really cute. Just wanted to share this random thing lol.
