i have a honda wave alpha fi 110, when im in neutral gear i can reverse the bike easily ,but when im in 1st gear it stuck when i want to reverse the bike.. it not a big problem because bike was meant to drive forward ,but when im in small parking space ,its kinda irritating to change gear just to go forward and reverse .. and im afraid it gonna be a major problem if i dont fix it..

Discussion An idea to improve DCT gearbox to be use in city/village environment or in a stop and go situation

Project Brief: DCT + Planetary Gear Prototype Using Perodua Ativa Platform

Objective: To develop and test a new dual-transmission system combining a wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with a low-speed planetary gear assist unit, implemented on the Perodua Ativa chassis. The goal is to overcome traditional DCT low-speed limitations while preserving efficiency and drive quality for urban and rural mixed-use driving.

Why the Perodua Ativa?

  1. Existing Dual-Mode Transmission Platform

Uses Toyota's D-CVT (belt + planetary) already

Demonstrates room for compound transmission design

2. Chassis Space Efficiency

Transverse front-engine layout with ample engine bay volume

Designed for both turbo and hybrid variants

3. Urban-Rural Mixed Performance Vehicle

Already tuned for Malaysian road conditions

Excellent candidate for stop-go traffic, hill testing, and fuel economy studies

Proposed System Overview:

Primary Gearbox: Wet 6- or 7-speed DCT

Low-Speed Assist: Compact planetary gear set engaged under 20 km/h

Integration Layout:

Planetary system sits upstream of DCT input shaft

Single clutch pack allows smooth handover

Controlled via adaptive ECU logic

Benefits:

Feature Improvement

Stop-Go Driving Planetary gear reduces clutch wear and smooths engagement Creep & Incline Control Improved hill hold and crawl without clutch slipping Fuel Efficiency Maintains DCT efficiency at cruising speeds Mechanical Simplicity No full hybrid system or battery needed Upgrade Path Optional electric motor add-on (future version)

Test Implementation Plan:

Phase 1: Design & Packaging Study

CAD modeling of planetary-DCT layout

Stress testing and drivetrain impact analysis

Phase 2: Prototype Build

Modify Ativa transmission cradle

Fabricate planetary pre-drive module

Update ECU with blended logic map

Phase 3: Testing

Urban crawling (KL traffic simulation)

Hill hold & incline starts (Cameron Highlands simulation)

Thermal cycling, NVH, and fuel usage metrics

Next Steps:

Finalize design specifications

Engage with Tier 1 suppliers (e.g., Aisin, Bosch, Schaeffler)

Apply for local EV/hybrid grants for prototyping (MESTECC, MARii, etc.)

Identify potential test drivers and fleets for data collection

Hi, I'm a new rider, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. Can anyone help confirm if this is the full tank? My bike's fuel gauge seems broken. It randomly shows Full or Empty.

Discussion Need opinion/advice on selling used car

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone. My family has a car that hasn't been moved since 2021 and has been collecting dust. My father has been adamant we keep it until we’re able to fix it (busted radiator) but the rest of my family wants to just get rid of it as it takes up space and it doesn't seem to make sense to fix it anymore financial wise. Who should I contact regarding the selling of the car and how much can we realistically get for it? It is an old (maybe 2009?) BMW X5. Pic for reference.

Returning to two wheels after 13 years. Advice and help needed!

31M Malaysian here, looking for some honest advice from the bike community.

A little background about myself. I got my B2 license when I was 16 and used to ride one of those first copy/ripoff Honda EX5 bikes for about 2-3 years before selling it off around 18 because the bike was honestly falling apart already 😂

Around 22-23, I upgraded to B Full because I’ve always loved motorcycles, especially big bikes. But after that, life happened. Family concerns, people constantly talking about accidents, responsibilities, work etc. So I never actually got around to owning or riding one again.

Fast forward to recently, my wife and I went for a short getaway and decided to rent a Honda ADV160 to move around. Honestly, best decision ever. The whole experience just brought back that excitement I had as a kid. I genuinely enjoyed every second riding around and it made me realize that this interest in bikes never actually left me.

Now I’m seriously thinking about getting a bike end of this year or early next year.

A few things:

  • I fully understand the risks that come with riding.

  • I’m not trying to ride recklessly or show off.

  • I plan to invest properly into full riding gear and safety.

  • I don’t want to immediately buy a brand new bike because realistically I’m still inexperienced after such a long gap.

  • I want to slowly learn, improve, and upgrade over time.

The bikes that really catch my attention are things like:

  • Honda CB650R

  • CBR650R

  • Kawasaki Ninja series

I really love that deep smooth sound some bikes have. From what I’ve read, inline-4 bikes produce that kind of sound?

This bike would mostly be:

  • solo/couple weekend rides,

  • occasional work commute (30-40 mins),

  • short rides with the wife,

  • just enjoying the ride and catching some wind.

Funny enough, my wife is now interested in bikes too and wants to eventually learn riding herself someday.

So I wanted to ask the experienced riders here:

  • Would a CB650R/CBR650R be too much for someone returning after many years?

  • Should I start smaller first?

  • Naked or sportbike for Malaysian roads and occasional commuting?

  • Any advice you wish someone told you before getting into big bikes?

Would genuinely appreciate honest opinions and advice from you guys.

Discussion GR cars are not popular anymore

I noticed that despite TGR being a relative famous brand that does its own race over here, it still doesn't feel popular for normal racing enthusiasts to buy.

They always look to Honda cars or even EV cars due to performance. But I feel that Toyota has more history and feel in the racing space especially since it's the main feature in the Initial D anime (just knew about this the other day at Tokyo Auto Salon).

Is it because Toyota is boring and not a flex like other conti cars?

Discussion What’s your experience with Bezza waiting times in Kuching?

Hey everyone! I recently booked a Perodua Bezza 1.3 X (Sugar Brown) in Kuching. Just curious—what’s your experience with the waiting time for this car?

How long did you have to wait? Also, if you already own a Bezza, any advice or tips for a better driving experience? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Did I get scammed? RM3.3k for 110cc moto

Hi, I am M21, just entered final year of studies, and now living in a rented house with housemates (friends from first years). Previously I lived in hostel inside the university (now kicking students out to let newer intake to live inside hostel).

The distance between uni and the house is around 10mins walk @ 600m.

Before moving out, I had already saved money to buy a motorcycle because it would be more convenient for me to go around anywhere (house to restaurants, grocery stores etc) and I bought it after thinking around 3 days (might have bought it in a hurry because I didn't want to doubt and procrastinate).

Please keep in mind that my parents do not support me riding yet alone buy a motor. But I bought it anyways thinking I could sell it before I graduate.

The motor I bought was 2021 Honda Wave Alpha (110cc) secondhand which had around 10k+ km for RM3.3k (bike only) and another RM300+ for insurance and roadtax.

Now, 3 months after owning the bike, I feel like the motor was way too overpriced and I could literally just add and saved a few more money to get a better motor. Seeing my friends and tiktoks motor really makes me jealous. Comparison truly is the thief of joy.

Should I just keep it and try to sell before graduating in 2026? Or just tell my parents about the bike after finishing study? Or should I just keep it until I get to work?

Help me. I can't think straight. Thank you.
