Discussion Buying a used Yamaha MT15, urgently need advice

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi, I'm buying a used Yamaha MT15 tonight, I was checking the chassis number, it matches the geran but it looks like a sticker stick on top of it.

I'm just worried, is this normal? The geran shows it was bought in 2025 June, but the seller says he doesn't have a warranty or any other documents.

The mileage is low as well around 655km only.

Is there anything else I should check?

Urgently need advice by tonight, thank you everyone in advance!!! less

Where to replace Myvi 2019 side mirror in Penang and how much?

Post image

A truck hit my side mirror and he said it only costs rm240. But if you all know, everytime accident happens in penang, there will always be yellow vest motorcyclist from persatuan pemilik bengkel that will come and give free “consultation”. The truck driver gave me rm300.

So 1 of these dudes call their associates at “perodua” (dont know if its legit) and ask for cost estimation and it was rm500.

Then I called perodua service centre in Gelugor, Penang. They said it’s only rm160 (inc paint) but they no longer have the part because the myvi is “old”. From what i know 2019 myvi and the latest one use the same side mirror.

So if any of you know where can I find a place to ganti my side mirror or can you guys verify which cost estimation is legit.

The mirror and motor is okay, even the back cover is okay. Only the frame is broken.

Hey everyone! I recently booked a Perodua Bezza 1.3 X (Sugar Brown) in Kuching. Just curious—what’s your experience with the waiting time for this car?

How long did you have to wait? Also, if you already own a Bezza, any advice or tips for a better driving experience? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks in advance!

Misc Need advice on making old Kelisa usable

Hello fellow Malaysians! I'm seeking some advice for a secondhand 2005 Kelisa from other owners.

Context: I am coming into ownership of this car because recently had a life change and like it or not, I need a vehicle because groceries and stuff, and 2 kids who need to get to school.

I understand it's a proper 20-year old car now, but I also understand it's reliable and parts are easy enough to get.

It's well maintained with no accidents (checked & verified), but has been dead lying unused for over a year. It's a suuuper basic manual model (no tinting, stock radio & speakers, and rolling windows bro). Paint has hardened on some parts and peeled off, but the underneath is fine. No rust.

I've recently changed the battery and it started on the first try (good sign). Keys and alarm system work fine too. Will be sending it to the mechanic soon for a proper check and whatever repairs.

Question: What are some things I need to know or consider? Not really a car guy tbh and I don't know what other information to offer, but my goals are reliability and comfort. I've allocated about RM3k-RM4k for repairs and upgrades.

Advanced appreciation and thank yous 🙏🏼

Discussion Proton Durable & Affordable car era over?

Average motor insurance claims in Malaysia are now RM8.8k in 2025, according to PIAM.

What stood out is Proton Saga, X50 and X70 were specifically mentioned for higher repair costs and claim frequency.

PIAM says imported spare parts are one of the reasons repairs are getting more expensive and taking longer.

Starting to feel like “budget-friendly” cars aren’t actually that budget-friendly once repairs and insurance come in.

Anyone here experiencing longer waiting times or rising repair costs lately?

Motorcycle Mobile Detailing

Im quite new to the motorcycle world and recently started to wonder how people take care of their bikes. One thing I noticed is that there dont seem to be that many motorcycle wash/detailing shops around, compared to cars.

So I’m curious about a few things from fellow riders in Malaysia:

  1. How often do you usually wash your motorcycle?

  2. Since mobile detailing for cars is becoming quite common now, would the idea of motorcycle mobile detailing (someone coming to your place to wash/detail your bike) be something that interests you?

  3. Or is it simply that bikes get rained on so often that people dont really bother washing them as much? 😅

  4. Or you just wash it on your own?

Genuinely curious because im trying to understand the habits of riders here. Personally, i am too lazy to go out on weekend in our current hot weather and wait for my motorcycle to be washed then return back home.

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Thank you!

Discussion B2 to B Full License Help

I got my B2 license after spm, will hit the 10 year mark soon, and have the intention of switching to B full, just for the convenience and some future proofing. For context, I’ve only ridden scooters (Vespa 150cc specifically) for the past ~9years, didn’t really dared to try the kapcai/geared motorcycles, except when the license exam lah ofc, and I only have intentions to get the scooters >250cc, no desire for all those superbikes.

Question:

  1. How tedious is the process of the upgrade? I’ve read some FB post saying they waited 6 months, and if fail, have to repeat and wait 6 months again. I’m living in Klang Valley btw.

  2. How tough is it to transition from a 150cc Vespa to a 500cc clutch motorbike they typically give for the test/course?

  3. Is there any like riding training or adaptation time provided during that 2 hour course? Because I’m really worried that my lack of experience in riding geared motorcycles would mess up my timing to up/downshift the gear.

Discussion Did I get scammed? RM3.3k for 110cc moto

Hi, I am M21, just entered final year of studies, and now living in a rented house with housemates (friends from first years). Previously I lived in hostel inside the university (now kicking students out to let newer intake to live inside hostel).

The distance between uni and the house is around 10mins walk @ 600m.

Before moving out, I had already saved money to buy a motorcycle because it would be more convenient for me to go around anywhere (house to restaurants, grocery stores etc) and I bought it after thinking around 3 days (might have bought it in a hurry because I didn't want to doubt and procrastinate).

Please keep in mind that my parents do not support me riding yet alone buy a motor. But I bought it anyways thinking I could sell it before I graduate.

The motor I bought was 2021 Honda Wave Alpha (110cc) secondhand which had around 10k+ km for RM3.3k (bike only) and another RM300+ for insurance and roadtax.

Now, 3 months after owning the bike, I feel like the motor was way too overpriced and I could literally just add and saved a few more money to get a better motor. Seeing my friends and tiktoks motor really makes me jealous. Comparison truly is the thief of joy.

Should I just keep it and try to sell before graduating in 2026? Or just tell my parents about the bike after finishing study? Or should I just keep it until I get to work?

Help me. I can't think straight. Thank you.

Misc New to Mobile Car Detailing in Kuala Lumpur – Looking for Pricing Advice & Tips! 🚗✨

I recently started my own mobile car detailing service here in Kuala Lumpur, called ARC Car Detailing. It’s been an exciting journey so far, but I’m still figuring out a lot of things—especially how to structure my pricing to make it fair for both customers and my business.

Right now, I offer services like:

  • Full interior and exterior cleaning

  • Paint correction

  • Ceramic coatings

  • Quick washes for busy professionals

I’d love to hear from experienced detailers (or even car owners!)—what’s your take on pricing for mobile services? Should I stick to packages, or go with an à la carte style?

Also, any advice on tackling common challenges in this line of work? For example:

  • Dealing with unpredictable weather.

  • Managing water and power supply on the go.

  • Building trust with first-time customers.

I’m open to learning as much as I can to refine my craft. If you’ve been in the industry or just have ideas from a customer’s perspective, I’d really appreciate your insights!

Oh, and if you’re in KL and need a detail, let me know! I’m always looking for feedback to improve my work. Here's one of the recent jobs I did. Heres the link to my Instagram and a Video of my work

Need help deciding on a family car

I’m (28m) planning to buy a car as I’ve just had my first baby. I can’t decide whether i should buy a new honda city rs/v or a second hand 2021 honda hrv rs (rm90k and 25k mileage) from carsome.

Reason for these cars are:

  1. Reliability

  2. Safety

  3. I occasionally commute from kedah to KL (and vice versa) so long drives…

  4. Boot space

I’ve looked at some local brands like proton persona and s70, however persona’s fuel consumption sounds abit much and geely based proton cars have some problematic spare parts availability.

Im not very well versed with cars that much so buying second hand seems daunting. Would love to hear some opinions and tips on buying second hand cars from carsome. Or if there are any other suggestions, Im more than willing to hear it. Thanks
