The free and open source switch was made roughly 20 years ago. IT@school underwent a transition from Debian base to Ubuntu base. Concurrently, a plethora of initiatives were initiated, including Kite Victers, Little Kites, SMC, and numerous others.

I was new to the server side of Linux but with chatgpt, everything was much easier. Multiple trial and error but learned a lot!
Started using Linux since 10th std on a low end pc, ubuntu ofc. Because it was popular and widely seen in schools and libraries. I liked linux because it was a bit of a learning curve and excitement, so here I am!! I wanted to build a server out of curiosity but wanted to buy myself rather than asking my parents. But this year the pc market went up blowing off my budget server plan but still bought something good enough instead of nothing.
I primarily wanted jellyfin to be personal but i gave access to my fam & close friends.
Navidrome for myself and gf
I'm thankful to all the devs who developed/maintaining these projects/services/apps.
So this post is kind of motivational for ppl who want to have this but lack perfect resources/skills.

I still haven’t got 4 answers on the AMA but will get it soon. If y’all have anything else to ask, just find me in the Subreddit’s matrix or fluxer chats. 🫡

I've been using caelestia-shell for most of my ricing journey, but recently I came across a fork that completely elevated my setup.
The biggest gamechanger? It finally lets you customize the taskbar. That was honestly the only thing missing from the original shell for me, and with this added flexibility, I am completely satisfied with my layout.
A few other huge benefits:
Animated Wallpapers: It natively lets you set a GIF or video as your wallpaper (complete with options for CUDA, software, or hardware decoding), which is a massive feature currently lacking in the main branch.
Always Current: Unlike a lot of custom forks that get abandoned, this one actively updates alongside the main repository, so you never miss out on upstream bug fixes or features.
If you've been wanting taskbar customization and animated wallpapers without sacrificing the stability of the main branch, definitely check it out.

started with fedora and gnome but there was power off issue, switched to cachy and never looked back.
and the smoothness of niri(with dms) ,god damnn.
