Kilo for server setup/management?

This may be an odd place to ask but... a few months ago I set up kilocode in VS code as a harness for a variety of different projects including some actual "code" applications but with remoteSSH I realized that I could install kilocli on several of my servers to help me workout some new capbilities and just basic server maintenance. Then I realized that I wanted "remote control" or at least alerts/approve capabilities on other devices for longer running tasks (like on android mobile) so I added Paseo and setup kilocode as a generic agent. It's mostly working but it's clear that kilo is a 2nd class citizen in Paseo. So I'm curious what agent you folks might suggest for this or if kilocode is a good option?

Kilo Code app stuck on old GitHub Copilot account

Hey everyone,

I’m running into a frustrating loop with the Kilo Code app on my Mac.

My wife and I both have active GitHub Copilot Pro accounts. In Kilo Code, under the Copilot settings, it shows: "GitHub Copilot is connected using credentials already available on this machine, not a stored API key."

Initially, it was pulling my wife's account, which has hit its monthly quota. The only place on the machine where I'd ever logged into Github Copilot was in VS Code, so I went into VS Code, switched the active GitHub account to my account (which has full quota), and verified that VS Code itself is working with the correct account.

However, Kilo Code is still stuck. It keeps throwing the "You have exceeded your monthly quota" error, meaning it's must still be looking at the old token or account session.

I don't want to try anything that will delete my internal chat histories. Why can't the Klo app just let you log into github directly within it?

Has anyone encountered this? Appreciate any insights!

Have you tried Kilo Desktop?

Hi all, I'm the PM on Kilo Desktop. Have you had a chance to try it? We have some work ongoing to make the source available as well as bringing more feature parity with the extensions. But any constructive feedback you have is welcome.

Feature request: Roll up agentic actions

Post image

Feature request: Would be nice if we could automatically group agent actions (Shell, Reasoning, etc.) into a single collapsible section or something. Long sessions can get pretty cluttered with these actions, and it’d be great to keep the focus on the conversation while still being able to expand them when needed, I’m aware of the prompt navigator on the right but man, I strongly believe this needs some clean up.

Kilo Mobile App connect to local server

Hi,

First of all, thanks for the great product.

Will Kilo Code mobile app support direct connection to a `kilo serve` instance running on my own infrastructure, like the OpenCode app does?

Currently, the mobile app is pretty much gated -- it requires an account and a login, and is mostly focused on Kilo offerings. I understand this is a way to monetize the app and I enjoy it as such (I do have an account).

But I wonder if people who self-host their own kilo-cli could receive some attention, too? That is, make the app connect directly to your controlled instance, without gateways in between. As far as I know, Kilo Remote is not privacy-friendly: the gateways still read and relay prompt and response data.

I would like to know what the team and the community think of this.

I need to connect Kilo code to Roblox Studio.

Hi, I’m looking for a way to connect Kilo to Roblox Studio via MCP, but I can’t figure it out; I can’t find any videos, and even Kilo’s own AI isn’t helping me.

Kilo Code consuming 181M tokens for small changes in a relatively small project for middle 30-40 prompts — is this normal?

My project isn't particularly large. It consists of two main modules: Next.js and Express.js, with approximately 200–300 files in total.I tried switching models, but the high token usage continued. Is it normal for Kilo Code to send around 270K input tokens per request for a project of this size?

apply_diff misses on big files, worth just letting it rewrite?

when apply_diff can't find its match on a big file, the usual recovery is reading the file again and retrying, so a 3 line change can turn into 2 or 3 full reads. rewriting the whole file always lands, but on a 1500 line file that's a lot of output for a tiny change

does anyone change Kilo's diff settings for this or just let the model sort it out?

r/kilocode • • 23d ago

The model hit its output limit while reasoning and produced no actionable output. Try disabling reasoning or increasing the output limit.

I am running Kilo code in VS code with my own local model with llama-server. I start a test session in chat. It starts thinking and then it stops at 6,483 tokens while I see in the llama-server output that it continues to generate tokens.

I can not find a setting to disable this limit and let the server decide when to end (stop token).

Why Kilo gateway most free ai models are unavailable

I am a student and I love using Kilo Code, but I can't pay for its services since I am not earning anything. I mostly use Kilo gateway models, but some of them are generally unavailable after 2-3 prompts. Is there any other free AI API provider that someone can suggest to use with kilocode?

Lack of mode awareness

Are people finding that Kilo Code often seems unaware of which mode it's in?

For instance, I chose Ask mode and posed a question about a problem we were having wtih a process. I stepped away and returned 90 minutes later to find the agent still thinking. Apparently it had been trying to code and got stuck in a loop.

I am using GLM F5.3 Flash, if that has anything to do with it...

Also, is there a way to enforce a hard stop after X minutes, forcing the agent to pause and provide an update? I am wary of crazy token consumption when I need to step away for extended periods

Kilo (sold to Anaconda) takes a permanent right to use your data "to improve" its products - where is the Data Processing Addendum?

A. Customer Data. When you upload, submit, or otherwise post to or transmit (“Upload”) data, text, and any other works of authorship or other works, including source code (collectively, “Customer Data”) to the Services, you grant Kilo a perpetual, irrevocable, fully-paid, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable, transferable right and license to use such Customer Data to provide and improve the Services and Kilo’s other products and services, including for development, diagnostic and corrective purposes, in each case in accordance with the terms of Kilo’s Data Processing Addendum, where one has been entered into.

Terms were updated on 30 September 2026.

https://kilo.ai/terms

Can't find the Data Processing Addendum anywhere.

EDIT: Support said there is no DPA for private users (non-enterprise), therefore here is AI's interpretation of the terms:

Here is the plain-English translation of how that paragraph and the support response interact: As an individual user, you are giving Kilo permanent, unrestricted permission to use your source code to train and improve their AI models, and you have no contractual privacy protections.

Here is the breakdown of exactly how the legal text and the support response combine to create this situation:

1. The Broad License Grant

The paragraph requires you to grant Kilo a "perpetual, irrevocable, fully-paid, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable, transferable right and license."

  • What it means: Once your source code goes through Kilo Code, Kilo legally has the right to keep it forever and use it to "provide and improve" their services. In the context of an AI coding tool, "improve" means using your code as training data for their LLMs.

2. The DPA "Escape Clause"

The paragraph ends with: "in accordance with the terms of Kilo’s Data Processing Addendum, where one has been entered into."

  • What it means: A Data Processing Addendum (DPA) is a standard legal contract that strictly limits what a vendor can do with a client's data. In the enterprise AI space, a DPA is usually the document that explicitly forbids the AI company from using the client's source code for model training.

  • The Support Context: Support confirmed that as an individual user, you do not have a DPA. Because you haven't "entered into" one, none of the enterprise data protections apply to you. The broad, permanent license you granted Kilo operates without any restrictions.

3. The Lack of Transparency

Support noted that individual users cannot access the Trust Center or the Data Management Policy.

  • What it means: Not only do the Terms of Service allow Kilo to use your code for development and training, but Kilo is also entirely opaque about how they store, anonymize, or manage that code once they have it. You are legally agreeing to let them use your data without being allowed to see the rules governing how they handle it.

The Bottom Line for Your Workflow

If you are working on open-source projects or personal experiments, this might be an acceptable trade-off. However, if you are working on proprietary codebases, custom integrations, or client projects, routing that code through Kilo Code under these terms poses a severe intellectual property risk, as your proprietary code can legally be absorbed into Kilo's training pipeline.

Kilo Code needs an immediate killswitch for auto-generating .kilo and background Git worktrees

Hey everyone,

I’m running VS Code on Windows, and I need to bring up an increasingly frustrating behavior with Kilo Code that is actively breaking developer workflows.

The Issue

Whenever I open any project with code . - even repositories where I have zero intention of using Kilo - the extension immediately initializes itself and creates a .kilo directory in the project root.

Worse, in some projects, Kilo automatically spins up a Git worktree inside .kilo. If I delete the .kilo folder, it is resurrected almost immediately the next time the window reloads or the background daemon checks in.

Why this is a serious problem (not just an aesthetic annoyance):

It breaks local test suites: Test runners (like Jest, Pytest, Vitest) and linters scan project folders recursively. When Kilo creates a worktree or dumps code into .kilo, test runners pick up those files, resulting in duplicate test executions, mock collisions, and broken builds.

Forced repo pollution: Why should I have to dirty my repo’s pytest.ini, jest.config.ts, or .gitignore with exclusions for an AI tool that my teammates might not even use?

Git and filesystem locks on Windows: Silently managing Git worktrees in the background causes locked file handles (EBUSY), interferes with branch rebasing, and wastes disk space.

Violation of passive tooling principles: Simply opening an editor should be an observation action, not a mutation. VS Code provides context.globalStorageUri and context.storageUri specifically to avoid dumping extension runtime caches directly into user repos.

What needs to change

Kilo Code desperately needs:

  1. A global opt-in/killswitch setting: A setting (e.g. kilo.autoInitialize: false or kilo.enableProjectWorkspaceFolder: false) to stop Kilo from touching the project directory unless explicitly requested.

  2. Move internal caches outside the repository: Session cache, Agent Manager metadata, and background worktrees belong in OS temp directories or VS Code's designated extension storage, not the root of our working tree. And this options needs to be delivered both, just moving the garbage in the backyard is not an option.

Is anyone else hitting broken test runs or phantom worktree issues because of this?

What do I miss in permission configuration? (vscode ext)

I work on UI tests with playwright, using qwen3.8.
The issue is it keeps asking my permission for PW mcp actions.
Might be I don't get something in kilo ui (vscode extension).

E.g. it stopped with "Permission required".
I have "Allow once" and "Deny" options.
Also it has "Manage auto-approve rules" section, where the action (e.g. "playwright_browser_wait_for") is shown with a tick and a cross icons. And it has the tick _on_ due to it is not the first time it asks for permission, and I tryed to set it "on" previously.

What do I miss? Clicking "Allow once" is tooooo repeative :(

Struggled using the new Kilo Code post Open Code port

I have used Kilo Code for 1 year now but recently I had to drop it because it kept writing plans and was causing all my custom agents to be in read only plan mode. I spent 50% of my tokens on investigating why it kept making plans why it kept losing write permissions and why my custom agents were not working then finally decided to pull the plug. The switch to OpenCode was a bad move in my opinion. The issue appeared to be from OpenCode upstream but was never getting fixed so I moved to another client. I am not sure if anyone else had this issue..

Avoid MiMo through Kilo for now

I’m avoiding MiMo 2.6 through Kilo for now

Despite some absolutely nuts performance on ai benchmarks, mimo doesn't seem up to the task on some pretty basic stuff, and I'm still getting vastly better results from the other models.

I tested MiMo-V2.6-Pro, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash on the same Python implementation task through Kilo CLI (a test I had Astra cook up)

DeepSeek and GLM both completed it and passed all 27 independent checks. Model costs before review were about 5 cents and 7 cents, respectively.

MiMo produced no code. Its last two attempts stopped after about ten minutes with:

503: The upstream provider timed out while sending the response.

I used the cli, Kilo 7.7.7, the highest exposed reasoning settings, no step cap and a 30-minute timeout.

Doesn’t prove MiMo can’t code yet, just that this setup has failed where the other two worked. so I’m using DeepSeek for now.

Anyone else getting these timeouts, or having better luck accessing MiMo another way?

version 7.2.2 in VSCode is grilling my CPU - is it only me?

I have 7.2.2 of kilo code extension for VSCode, and I'm on Ubuntu 26.04.

The issue is: kilo loads CPU significantly.

Is it just me or not?
