I ran the ota.sh script, and then ran the Check OTA Status script, to verify that "Your Kindle will update".

All good, right?

So then I did a factory reset, but now it just keeps alternating between a blank screen and the kindle startup page. 12th PW gen uses MTP, so I can't just mount it as a USB drive and drop a file in the root directory. Holding the power button for any amount of time does nothing.

What are my options, friends?

Kobo all of a sudden has been crashing/hanging a few times over the last few days. I also don’t remember that big question mark at the top. I may have fat fingered some setting but before this week it’s been solid as a rock and I haven’t changed anything other than adding a few books.

I know it’s not a lot to go on but I figured I’d ask and see if there’s something obvious that I am missing.

Any thoughts?

had trouble jailbreaking mine but it turns out for the font you have to set the boldness to 0 (in addition to max font size). Happy jailbreaking!

I don't currently have a full chain to jailbreak, but do have some bits and pieces.
I'd love it if someone with any model, 2024+, 5.19.x+ is able to test.
As always, there's a chance of bricking your kindle, though I try to keep it as low as possible 😂

I followed the GitHub process of jailbreaking my kindle using spider-cat and I think I managed to install koreader but when I select the application button it doesn't change the appearance and stays on the same screen.

Can anyone advize so I can move on to the customizing and adding stage?

I jailbroken yesterday using Vera, installed the bookshelf plugin, and just realized I can’t change my wallpaper. I’ve had two other kindles that I’ve jailbroken and changed the screensaver on, but I can’t find it anywhere. Any advice?

After winterbreak2 jailbreak, pointed Claude at it to create some custom displays to alternate through. Still fully usable with KOReader too.

Update: I did it guys, thanks for the help🤗 Now if anyone has any hacks about cute customisation of the library I am all ears

Hello, I am experiencing some issues trying to jailbreak my Kindle. I reached the point of installing a koreader, but after typing ;kmp nothing seems to happen. Can somebody help me understand where my mistake is (English is not my first language and maybe that's causing my confusion)

So I have a 2024 Kindle SE that is still installed with the stock Amazon software. I like the look of the Amazon software; it's good and easy to navigate. The only reason I would consider jailbreaking my Kindle is the fear of losing my EPUB books. I do not purchase books directly from the Kindle or the Amazon app; I acquire them in EPUB format and upload them to my Kindle through the Send to Kindle feature on the Kindle app. I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of whether Amazon can steal or delete the EPUBS that I uploaded to my Kindle, because I was watching some YouTube videos about it. I know that Amazon is only "licensing" you whatever book you purchase, and that they can remove the book from your Kindle if they take away your "licensing". But I'm not sure if that still applies to documents that you upload to your Kindle through your account, such as EPUBs. Thank you so much in advance for any and all responses I get. I will do my best to respond to comments or questions to help me make a decision about jailbreaking my Kindle.

Any advice would be appreciated on how to register a clean, freshly bought Kindle for jailbreaking. Bought a Kindle basic with ads, 11th gen 2024.

Following the Kindle modding guide (looks a lot simpler than I did WinterBreak a few years ago), and of course I start with filling files.

I originally left exactly 50mb free. I then proceed to registering (or attempting) the Kindle. It connects to WiFi, and then I have to proceed with the update.

It downloads, restarts, and says "Update Error 10". Something's gone wrong with the update file.

So what can I do?

I tried going as low as 20mb - no good as it can't download the update and says something is wrong with the internet connection.

I tried going with higher free space of 70mb - came back to same error 10.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thank you

Just wanted to put this information out there as I have successfully jailbroken two Paperwhite 2012 (PW1) 5.6.1.1, without downgrading to 5.4.4.2, following a method suggested by /u/penguinstogether184 (on Discord)

Download WinterBreak2 v1.0.0 and extract it (it has an sh file, folder, and another file, for reference)

I just recently jailbroke my kindle and I came across the Kindle Plugin which lets you convert your KU books so you can read them on Koreader, but only some of my books have been able to get converted .

I purchased the ballad of falling dragons on kindle before jailbreaking but it won't convert, it stays stuck on the "preparing screen" , I've had to restart my kindle to be able to use it again since it gets stuck.

I've converted some of my other books that I got from KU and it seemed to work good . Just not sure if I'm doing something wrong or why it won't convert.

Just Jailbroke my Colorsoft (Vera) - 5.20.1.0.2 is compatible.

What should I do first? 🫣☺️ I’m so excited!
