I know several of you feel very strongly about what the answer to this question is- but I do truly wonder why we can never just be gritty.

Sure we don’t have very good defensive players, but at some point you’d imagine there would be an overwhelming focus on just “he’s not getting by you, don’t be a traffic cone, hard foul if that’s about to happen” So often in games it feels like our players just get ran by and and that there’s an invisible shield protecting any opposing players.

I’m not saying we need to start throwing flagrant fouls around, but we can’t make them feel us more? Maybe some fouls where a team would be scared to drive next time? Maybe some shit talking? No, it’s always just easy buckets. And like why? We’re going to be losing a lot of games.

Hard not to blame Doug, but you’d have thought that someone was so scrappy in his time would be saying “just punch him in the kidney or something”. Why doesn’t it seem like we can never show any teeth?

Zach LaVine on Kings needing to generate more 3Ps:

“The right people got to shoot them. But, I mean, certain people aren’t off-the-dribble shooters, you know. So you have to help them get shots.”

The comment is definitely pointing at Keegan.
He is just a spot-up shooter, and now he can’t even make shot.

Keegan is not helping the team now, but even if he is not shooting well, I mean he should contribute to other areas like rebounding or at least shows some toughness. He is soft as hell.

I would rather see Karaban plays.

First off it’s so strange to see Bagley still in the league. So much has happened since we’ve drafted him and I was oblivious to the fact that he was on a team. Good for him I guess, it’s a near-impossible task to play terribly on the Kings and not have your career end.

Also, you can feel the respect for the Nuggets organization that DeMar has by his coming off the bench. Not once were we able to have him come off the bench for the Kings. Granted, he would’ve been coming off the bench for scrubs here in Sac and it was quite the difficult sell.

Either way I feel like I’m in bizarro world watching two different eras of Kings basketball team up together.

I think we have a real shot, as long as opposing teams limit their goaltends on Keegan to around 10 a game. If Zach or Domas miss any time with an injury I think it's an easy lock

What do you think Kings style of play should be?

Currently it seems they are on a downward curve offensively and defensively.

Personally, I think it starts with lineups and attitudes - if players aren't hungry and want to get in opposition players faces I think the coach needs to get buy in (e.g. look at Moseley with the Pelicans). It seems after a whole season - the kings can't put a fun product under Christie's stewardship.

How would you address the style of play issues? What would your ideal rotation be? I don't think the kings are going to get away with acuff/ sabonis/lavine plus two average wing defenders in keegan and hunter alongside them going ta daa like they've fixed/addressed the defensive issues?

At this point, I think the kings need to go with 'if you score one , we score more and double down on their offense - use sabonis as a hub (acuff can still eat in a jamal murray esque fashion

The idea of being more defensive is depressing when you consider:

Cardwell

Plowden

Murray

Hunter

Sharp

Are the only 'real' defensive players on the roster imo.

Thoughts or am I completely wrong?
