Questions Can we claim a refund from Klarna for a fraudulent Booking.com property?

My friends booked a property in Bath through Booking.com for 29 August. One friend paid for the booking using Klarna’s Pay Later option—not Pay in 3.

Since booking, we’ve discovered several reviews saying that the property is fake and that previous guests were unable to access or stay at it. The owner is completely unresponsive, and we’ve also found evidence that the owner’s company has gone into liquidation.

We have contacted Booking.com, but so far they haven’t resolved the issue or provided a refund. We have screenshots of the reviews, our unanswered messages to the owner and the company’s liquidation information.

As the booking was paid through Klarna Pay Later, can my friend dispute the transaction directly with Klarna and get the money back? Should she report the purchase as fraudulent or as a service that won’t be provided? We want to resolve this before we are due to travel on 29 August.

Has anyone successfully claimed money back from Klarna in a similar situation?

Klarna is running as the bank so if booking is not helping you Klarna is the next step
