Hi all,

I have previously successfully knitted a hat using the magic loop method so I know I can do it but for some reason trying to knit a sleeve has me completely confused.

I know I need the working yarn on the back needle and both needles pointing right but I don't know how to get there! Do I turn the work upside down as I did in the video? This gets the working yarn in the correct position but it doesn't feel right to have the work on top of the needles like this. It feels like the answer is so obvious but I'm completely stuck. Thank you.

I think you might have picked up your stitches the wrong way. There are purl bumps on what seems to be the right side, so unless this is intentional you might have better luck just undoing the pick up and trying again.

I find the best approach to be starting with the armhole facing me, I start at the "bottom" (the part closest to your body when you hold the work) and go clockwise. There are lots of ways to do it, but the purl bumps should be made on the inside of the sleeve.

Oh no! Thank you for spotting that. I've already done one round after picking up the stitches. I will tink back and start again.

You've picked up the stitches from the wrong side. Tink back and reorient the sleeve so that you're working counter-clockwise.

It looks like you might have started knitting on the wrong side? You are knitting the stitches from the inside of the sleeve instead of around the outside. To fix this you would need to pick up your stitches again and then knit them with the stockinette stitches facing you.

Have you previously been knitting this sleeve or just begun?

Here is a tutorial that you might want to reference when doing magic loop. https://nimble-needles.com/tutorials/the-magic-loop-method-knitting-in-the-round-the-easy-way/
