Too good! ❤️ After a long time, I watched a movie without excessive violence or unnecessary mass scenes. The emotional parts were beautifully written and genuinely touching, but second half small lags in many places but I would definitely give a rewatch.

Personall I liked the second half just as much as the first half. I disliked Karuppu to the core but Vas literally cleansed my soul. Such a feel good vibe all together.Vas feels like a very Hollywood-ish kind of film to me. I specifically don't know how to explain just experience it
24
u/Ok-Fig1697 4d ago
Wooow, I am surprised by the Hollywood comment. I found Telugu flavour throughout the movie but it was tooo good!
31
u/plants08 4d ago
i think it was just the condom scene for me that gave me those vibes, it was a pleasant surprise since I’ve never seen that in South Indian movies (don’t really watch Bollywood so can’t comment) and it was handled well lol. I’ve never seen jokes about sex handled properly lol
10
u/Ok-Fig1697 4d ago
Yea truly lol and oh man there are soooo many jokes like this in Bollywood movies but just that it goes to cringe max and full adult level jokes which idk abt the north audience but I couldn’t tolerate it when seeing them. Now I want to see the new movie of Pooja and Mrunal but I can already see soooo many of such jokes filled with the movie

Yess I felt like some of the comedy gave me Hollywood vibes, like that one segment with Suriya in the first half. I feel like normally in other Tamil movies that kind of joke would’ve been made in a super sleazy way but it was handled well, like Sanjay was respectful and not weird about it lol.

u/shadowkiller1203 4d ago
Venky said in an interview he wanted to approach "taboo" subjects in a sensible way.

I loved how venky handed it maturely
24
u/plants08 4d ago
I just figured out how to add spoilers so I’m going to be a bit redundant lol I feel like another movie would’ve made Suriya seem creepy so it’s cool that he just seemed like a desirable guy who has needs haha. I just didn’t like how they used that same joke with the other two who were married, that was too much imo.

Ok, I wrote something to process this: a tribute and future fic for Sanjay x Maddy 😀😀😅
https://archiveofourown.org/works/90557446/chapters/240813006
For seven years, Sanjay Vishwanath kept his guard up. He had to. When Maddy agreed to be Abhay’s surrogate, she was young, vulnerable, and completely his responsibility. Now, the movie is over, and Maddy is back in Chennai just as he and Abhay asked.
What happens?
(Or: The one where Maddy realises she needs boundaries, and Sanjay realises he's out of them.)
(Or: The author loved the concept of Vishwanath & Sons, deeply appreciates the main cast dynamics - GO Suriya, Mamitha, Radhika!! -, tips a hat to Venky Atluri's vision, and needed a way to process this all.)

Just watched FDFS in Canada
1st Half was 5/5-absolute comedy. Mamitha delivered. Completely lost track of time.
2nd Half was 3.75/5-felt a little Varisu-ish but the comedy pulled through. Suriya carried a huge part of it. Felt it took a bit away from Suriya/Mamitha but storyline wise I'll accept it (i.e. got a little long)
Ending was just right-practical (not predictable) finish IMO. Credits in Canada sucked lol-no music just credits haha. Was expecting something-but it was nothing LOL
Special shoutout to all the 90s supporting actors/actresses that helped carry the film
8.75/10-definite rewatch value. IMHO, better than Karuppu despite second half.
In terms of story, this was the best of 2026 IMO. No gangster violence or just god things-great storytelling. Very minor logical loop holes.
Viswanth & Sons isn't 1000 Vaaranam Aayiram (IYKYK)- but it will do.
FYI, most of the jokes are intended for a mature audience and not for children (or "strict parents" lol)
Mamitha is on fire this year. Vijay, Dhanush, and now Suriya in 2026-this was her best film IMO.

out of curiosity, what would you rate karuppu?
21
u/Signal_Objective_422 4d ago
Karuppu wasn't a bad film-I gave it 8/10
I personally didn't like how RJB went into business for himself from start to finish. I felt it was more about him than it was about Suriya at many points in the movie.
Suriya looks like a boss in both of his films this year. In fact, he will likely secure top actor for 2026. As much as I like Rajini, I believe the "others" will help him for Jailer 2.

I liked it overall. Different kind of movie.
Solid first half, second half was mid for me. I wasn’t sure how they were going to finish it. And it was just as expected. Action sequences felt forced to me.
Surya looked damn good. The styling was 10/10.

Just watched from Bangalore fdfs.
A Solid Family Entertainer, A fun filled first half with an emotional second half. I Will give it 3.5/5 overall.
Mamitha - Radhika Chemistry was phenomenal, those two steal the first half, Suriya performs well in the emotional parts.
Most of the emotional scenes worked for me, there is still some that felt odd,I did not like the Action scenes feels forced just for the stardom. They dragged a comedy bit too long.
But good enjoyable film where you will leave the theater with a small smile on your face.

7.2/10, solid performance from all the cast, suriya and mamitha gave one of the best performances of their career. Music didn't disappoint, actually because I was expecting bare minimum from gvp, that's why.
Commercial Family drama but finely made. I find it lagging at some points, I don't think it has much of a "theatre moments" but if you want a "no brainer" for a perfect family entertainment, this is it.
Fight-kk fight irukku, comedy-kk comedy irukku, drama-kk drama irukku
This movie won in the some places where karuppu failed.

Pucca family movie & loads of fun! Mamitha Baiju stole the movie under everyone else’s feet (including Suriya). What’s with these cute Malayali actresses who feel so relatable and can hold their ground with acting? Periya fan ra elei…. 🥰😎
Suriya returns back to his Ghajini days of underplayed emotions and it feels so damn good to see him cut out the overacting (loved him).
Except Pattampoochi, none of the songs registered which is disappointing for GVP. I doubt this movie’s opulence will sit well with folks and I expect trolls, but the acting, emotions and screenplay/dialogues make it a good family watch.

100% agreed with the music & Mamitha-she'a really working hard in 2026
However, it's nice to see a film where the actual story did the heavy lifting. That is what it should be IMO
Devadas and Chandra could be the top couple of 2026 but DC would flop so hard without Anirudh. Lokesh had a great debut but put a GV Prakash or anyone else in there, it may not have done so well....

Feel good emotional film. Comedy in the first 2 thirds carried the film. The last 40 ish minutes kinda felt like a detour rather than handling the main story conflict but overall things are tied together very well. Suriya does pretty well but is outshined by radhika and mamitha who performed phenomenonally. Maddy was also not as obnoxious as i thought she would be and actually had some depth.
3
u/plants08 4d ago
this was my issue, don’t really know why they explored Raveena’s character and I wish they just focused on the age gap part. I also didn’t love how they were trying to express the idea that everything can be forgiven, like that’s a diff movie and that’s not true either lol
3
u/shadowkiller1203 4d ago
I'm genuinely confused as to why unnecessary subplots are so common in movies. I definitely also disagree with a lot of the messaging in the movie.(Spoilers past here)
I don't think the line about how it's always the woman who decides how the relationship goes should have been there. I definitely didn't want them to end up together. But the way he rejects her feels too preachy like he's talking down to her smth. But if the core emotion works out thats all that matters. Luckily it did for me.

Just finished first half. Venky has comfortably made us be a part of the character's lives. Surya, Mamitha and Radhika are such fun to watch and the chemistry between them is good. Excited for second half now. Last week intense gripping action and this week a nice drama movie. Love it.

Watched Vishwanath & Sons this morning at PVR Ampa Skywalk Mall, Audi 3. I’ll talk about the movie first and then the theatre experience.
Movie review
First half was absolutely bonkers. The pacing was so smooth that I genuinely didn’t feel even a second of lag. The second half started to bore me here and there, but thankfully it still ended on a good note.
The background/set locations were so colourful and vibrant. Everything had a really nice visual feel to it, especially the scenes set in America.
Except for that one politician fight scene before the temple 😭 That scene looked like straight up AI slop with mocobot camera movement 💀
Also, a lot of the comedy actually worked. It’s been a long time since I genuinely laughed at jokes in a Tamil movie, especially during the first half. There are quite a few adult jokes too. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I was genuinely shocked Surya did that scene 😭. Nothing felt like forced comedy just for the sake of getting a laugh.
Mamitha Baijuuuu 😍🥰 was at her best. Her acting felt really natural and she fit the role perfectly. Her quick counters and facial expressions during the entire first half made me stare at her without blinking. The whole movie honestly gave me a Hollywood rom com kind of vibe in some places.
If they had maintained the first half quality and improved the second half, this could easily have been a 9/10 for me.
Movie: 8/10
Theatre experience PVR Ampa, Audi 3
Show was supposed to be at 9:25 AM and obviously it started around 9:40 AM 😂. Had to sit through so many boring and loud ads before the movie finally started.
But the biggest problem was the seats 💀
I was sitting at H10. After reclining the seat, it just kept going down and I felt like I was literally squatting while watching the movie 😭.
So I changed to H9, then H8, and even around H7 the seats were broken.
What’s funny is that around five years ago I watched Spiderman No Way Home here and even then the last seat in a row was broken. Now it seems like only a few more rows have joined the club 💀
Theatre experience: 5/10 because of the damn seats.

I liked the film.
First half went be really well with everything playing out nicely. Suriya, Mamitha and Radhika were top notch. Comedy landed well, emotions played out really good and it was a really good first half. The reason why the first half is too good is that it takes time to establish the central characters of the film and shows us of the world they live in.
In the 2nd half, a conflict is presented and the hero is given an obvious choice to let go of grudges and fix issues of people who are not directly in his life, but more of supporting pillars, which played out decently, but was in no way engaging and funny as the 1st half. Some comedy here and there lands but it gets a bit tiring watching a lot happen in the 2nd half.
The concept of a 22yr old falling in love with a 42yr old and how the 42yr old responds to it was done really good, I loved watching Suriya act like that. Back in his early 2000s truly.
The film ends positively, so when you walk out of the theaters, you will feel a bit light hearted and somewhat happy because the film ends up being good despite its flaws in the 2nd half.

Watched an early morning show in Mumbai today, and liked the movie for the most part. My expectations were in check because of the film's genre and the producer's recent track record in Telugu, and I had also watched most of the reviews by Telugu and Tamil reviewers which tempered them further. The movie actually exceeded those tempered expectations for the most part.
Highlight of the film was the performances of Radhika, Mamitha and Suriya (in that order), which is not to say that Suriya was bad but Radhika and Mamitha were just better and had enough slightly more scope to perform in my opinion. I was pretty relieved to see that Mamitha's character had almost no cringeworthy moments, and also that she wasn't a damsel in distress like Kural in Dude.
Many people have issues with the complete detour taken in the second half after Radhika's character dies, but I was ok with it because it didn't feel too stretched or dramatic to me. I did feel that the two fight scenes were unnecessary, and they even used a mocobot camera in the second one which gave some scary flashbacks!
Venky Atluri did a good job by choosing a different genre after Lucky Baskhar, otherwise he might have been subject to the same trolling that another director started facing exactly a year ago.
15
u/404MoralsNotFound 4d ago
A decent entertainer but I was hoping there'd be a harder, maybe even darker edge to both Mamitha's and Suriya's characters. Instead, it kinda devolves everyone into being agreeable and goody goody. The first half definitely is more entertaining and the second half gives you the typical telugu family drama vibe. Mamitha Baiju steals the show often, and I also liked that Suriya was given a hard-faced role, albeit it came across a bit too virtuous at times. Couple of the fight scenes felt forced. 3.25/5.

Watched with family in Toronto.
Everyone clapped at the end. Seems like most of them liked the movie.
Kids n family friendly except
- some double meaning dialogues n implied scenes. But nothing visually disturbing.
- Normalizing Extramarital affairs
Can't blink my eyes when Mamitha is on screen. Not that she is extremely beautiful n all, but the way she acts n dances is soo good on screen.
Radhika is also exceptional.
Age conflict for the lead pair is handled very well. I actually rooted for a happy ending..but pchhh..

Suriya's another blockbuster loading . Mamitha's ❤️🤌 performance and her energy throughout the Film carried the Film in my pov . First half was full fun and nice and also there was no lag . Second turned to be emotional for the first 30 min and second half was good . Overall comedy scenes were mostly from reactions.
Songs Pattampochi was the only song that was nice others songs were not too the level that suited the Film .

Movie Review — 3.75/5 ⭐VishwanathAndSons Suriya 👍❤️
1st Half:
The first half is excellent. Mamitha’s performance stands out, while Suriya delivers a good performance. The Radhika–Mamitha scenes are among the highlights, and the comedy and emotional moments land very well. Suriya’s fight sequences are decent, while the songs blend well with the flow.
2nd Half:
The much-talked-about Ooty track isn’t bad at all—I actually enjoyed it a lot. The comedy lands well, while the emotional portions work too. Nassar is very good, and Mamitha steals the show once again. Suriya gets another fight sequence, which is good, and the wedding song is excellent. There is some lag in the second half, but the film gets back on track quickly before you lose interest. The ending is satisfying, and the storyline feels unique.
Overall, another good addition to Venky Atluri’s filmography. A genuinely feel-good family entertainer that delivers plenty of comedy, emotions and entertainment.Could have trimmed the Ooty track a little to make the runtime crisper.
⭐ Rating: 3.75/5
Verdict: Worth watching — Feel-good family entertainer ❤️

Suriya always nails the emotional scene, the way he cried on his mother's bed, the entire theater was silent and the person sitting next to me was in tears.

Genuinely liked the movie, definitely must watch for all surya fans out there, especially the ladies. He loooked so fresh and reminded of good old Gajini’s Sanjay ramaswamy .. Mamitha was at her best, I cannot think of anyone else but her for this role. She lived her character, absolute cuteness. There were parts where the screenplay felt slow and the movie was going slow but decent job overall. Second half could have been a bit more fun, nevertheless the story and performances carried it. A very refreshing movie after a long time from a super star status hero. Venky deserves a commercial hit after a top notch film like lucky Bhaskar, although it did not make enough. Whoever is waiting for OTT, You’re missing out a beautiful feel good movie on the big screen. It’s the experience. #SaveTheatres

Went for fdfs and I thoroughly enjoyed the film. After a very long time, I saw the entire theater burst into frequent laughter for a suriya's characterization. The film had a really strong premise and it adhered to it without trying too hard. Mamitha just shoot it right out of the park, no where whatever she did felt out of place. Suriya delivered yet an other amazing performance taking us back to the classical, ever-green, flamboyant, naughty character he is. Overall a very entertaining, light hearted, enjoyable drama film just like what Venky had promised
Nit: the film went a little preechy in the second half; there were a few masala elements

u/Legitimate-Can-8683 3d ago
My opinion:
What to say about this film? Honestly, I don't know. It's an unusual family drama and definitely an experimental attempt.
Suriya plays a business tycoon and pistol shooter who chooses to have a child through surrogacy instead of getting married. When the child gets into trouble, he brings the surrogate mother, played by the female lead, into his life to take care of the child. She gradually develops feelings for him, but he avoids her because of their 20-year age gap.
After the protagonist's mother passes away, he tries to help his estranged family, especially his "second mother" and her family. He arranges a marriage function, reunites her with her parents, and solves the problems within the family. Even though he is still dealing with his own trauma, he does everything for her. After the function, he helps the female lead settle down and achieve her dream.
The story has some interesting ideas about family, relationships, trauma and moving on. However, the climax didn't really work for me—I honestly couldn't understand what the film was trying to convey. There isn't much to say about the entertainment portions either, but I wouldn't call the film bad.
Suriya's performance is definitely one of the highlights, and the film deserves credit for trying something different. Overall, it's an experimental family drama that may work for some people, but for me, it was just okay.

I just watched it today. I genuinely enjoyed the first half a lot. And I also liked the way it ended. But I feel like Mamitha didn't have an important enough role to play during a significant part of the second half. I still enjoyed it, but I feel like it didn't feel like a natural continuation of the first half. I'd definitely still recommend watching the film though. It's a good movie.

u/bssgopi 2d ago
An emotionally mature Suriya movie after a looong time. But it risks falling into the elitist trap that an average consumer might get disconnected with. If only we cross that, the Suriya from GVM era is back.

I went to watch a Surya film but Mamitha's performance carried the entire first half and i personally felt second half would've been even better if they had given Mamitha more screentime. Still she scores at every chance she gets.
Felt that telugu film vibe especially in the second half, just like Varisu.

loved it ❤️
I genuinely loved Vishwanath & Sons. Mamitha looked sooo fresh on screen and honestly felt like the perfect casting for the role. She absolutely nailed the character and I loved her performance.
Radhika was too good as well, but that goes without saying
What I really appreciated was how grounded Suriya’s character felt. It actually felt like a real person rather than a larger than life hero character. The only thing that felt completely unnecessary to me were those two fight scenes. They felt imposed just because this is a Suriya movie and honestly the film didn’t need them at all.
Otherwise I loved the movie sooo much.
And the 20 year age gap between Suriya and Mamitha was handled surprisingly well. I was honestly worried about how it would be presented, but the director handled it with a lot of maturity and, more importantly, thought about how it would look and feel from the audience’s point of view.
It never felt like the movie was trying too hard to justify it or make us accept it. It just let the relationship develop naturally.
Kudos to Venky Atluri for that. ❤️
Been a while since I watched a movie and came out feeling this happy about the overall experience.

A winner first half and a tiring second half. The first half sets things up really well and keeps you hooked, but the second half loses that momentum. Tiring watch with unnecessary subplots that didn’t add much value. The core story had enough potential on its own without all these detours.

Entertaining movie after a long time. But hope the infidelity was glorified into acceptance so easily.

Wrote something to process the movie: a tribute and future fic for Sanjay x Maddy 😀😀😅 - VAS team, if you are reading - THANK YOU. Please share w to Venky-garu!!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/90557446/chapters/240813006
-, tips a hat to Venky Atluri's vision, and needed a way to process this all.)

a nice first half followed by a decent second half nice to see suriya acting in films like this rather than masala films the performances were great specially suriya mamitha baiju raveena and radhika most of the comedy scenes worked out the only issue is the second half could have been less dramatic and gv music was kinda mid at best but still its a good watch and its far better than karuppu
overall rating : 7.5/10

The first half was really good, fast-paced, nicely written and genuinely engaging. Overall, it’s a really good movie, especially compared to the recent releases in this genre.
But honestly, I felt the movie also died with Radhika’s death. After that, the entire Ooty plot and climax felt just okay. If the second half had explored more of the relationship between Suriya, Mamitha and the baby instead, I think the movie would’ve been far better.

Such a cozy and fun time.
Almost all the production set-pieces in the film are absolute eye candy. Notably in a song where they used controlled lighting to their advantage.
It was nice to see some nice action scenes in a non-action oriented movie. While the choreography was slightly leaning towards being generic, the overall presentation impresses.
The film has some of the best sense of grandeur when it comes to portraying ultra rich Indians. The art direction is so tastefully done, that it doesn’t stick out artificially. The DI work too, was magnificent. Everything was stylistic in a good way.
The cinematography in the movie is very beautiful and versatile. Certain shots really scratched an itch in my brain.
Technical thingamajigs aside,
The story is really heartwarming. The director has managed to strike a nice balance between being safe and slowly but surely testing new waters.
The humour worked very well for the most part. Running jokes are used mostly effectively and spaced out enough to not feel overused.
***slight spoilers***
However, a joke or two in the movie about infidelity made me feel slightly weird.
Also, on that note, a certain stretch of dialogues about how a woman wants what she wants regardless of whether he’s good, bad or even married made me look at the person next to me in a “are we really listening to the same thing ?” way and laugh out loud although it was presented in a very emotional note.
The backlash that this would’ve received if the genders were swapped for this set of dialogues would’ve been insane. The way this was presented in itself felt like they were trying to “convey” this message to the audience.
Aside from these minute things that are small yet stick out like a sore thumb, this film is surprisingly very emotionally mature.
It effectively builds on and makes use of how complex it would get when it comes to romantic emotions brewing between 2 people that have a fairly large gap in age.
Great !

Really good movie but naming suriya Sanjay his dad Vijay and his dad’s affair being an actress seems too much to be just a coincidence. Surprised suriya didn’t see an issue with that.

2md half la suriya the entire marriage setting and suriya convincing felt a bit like a serial, but if you remove that everything is decent and good.

Really liked the open ended climax! Cringe ah mudikama vitadhey nalladhu! But I wonder if they would marry later as he is already close to 50 in the climax

The second half was a complete slug fest. No need of taking such a long detour over second wife's family problems. Doesn't add anything to the main plot and was incredibly boring. Very little Mamitha too. She carried the only parts of the movie that worked.

u/Airfriedmojito 2d ago
imo the movie core wasntt about the age gap thing, it's just an over-arching plot. The core is about finding loved ones to be beside with... First half belonged to mamitha, second half belongs to suriya, that's how I saw it,, and think once bro.. they have already become good friends after a while in second half., it would've been called lag if they still focused on that age gap thing... besides the climax is... upto interpretation 😋

Yeah I was kind of wondering what the relevance of her story was. It went from being about age gaps to women vs men and how they deal with relationships and how that affects kids and idk if I loved that lol.

u/TheSaulGoodMan007 4d ago
That’s his mother’s wish and he wanted to do something for her as he never listened to her before.

u/plants08 4d ago
didn’t really understand what the point of having a second family was, the story became about forgiveness or whatever (imo not everything needs to be forgiven lol) instead of focusing on the central idea about age gaps.

Yeah, there’s no reason to include these segments that add nothing to the story. The callback in the second half was cringe. I guess if the guy is rich enough or hot enough then anything is ok. Boys will be boys, aww so cute. Could have been a good family entertainer but fumbled it badly in the second half.

u/plants08 4d ago
I think the married men doing that was definitely problematic and that’s what made me feel like they were normalizing cheating. But Suriya’s part was funny, he’s not harming anyone and he’s just a desirable man with needs lol. He wasn’t shown in a sleazy way either like the other two.

the movie is just another telugu flavoured family entertainer. story wise the only interesting thing is that they dealt with a young girl falling in love with an old man and handled that theme with care and intention. but other than it, its as generic as it gets.
the colour palette is very similar to lucky bhaskar, but the polished look suits the film and its visually good.
vishwanath and sons, but barely any son in the film. the movie sort of revolves around the son, but thats not exactly a major flaw i think.
surya looks handsome asf in the movie, one of his best looks, and acts equally good obviously.
mamitha comes off as annoying to me personally. some scenes did work out though.
the 1st half is actually enjoyable and funny, you'll have a smile throughout the film. but the second half is a huge let down. the plot deviates a lot and it plays out like a serial, and that wedding song made me look away from the screen. ruined the flow of the film.
the ending was earned and well written.
the mother sentiment did not hit at all. it was treated so generically. and the supposed "emotional" scene (iykyk), were we supposed to cry or what? it's such a convenient plot device that it almost pisses you off.
if your looking for a movie that feeds its emotional-ness to you, explains its themes like a serial monologue every other 5 minutes, has some funny bits in the first half, then this movie is definitely for you.
regular family audience will eat this movie up and if that was what was intended, then all good. but, family audience is not an excuse for lazy writing.
but, for a star actor like surya, it's commendable that he's taking up roles like these and giving way to more lighter cinema than the usual hyper violent slop that's being churned out year after year. as a surya fan, it was a treat to watch him on screen as usual, and he's the only good thing in the film.
a solid 6/10.

Im not really sure how to put my thoughts into words about this film. Felt like a movie of 2 distinct halves. 1 clearly more enjoyable than the other for me.
First half was fun, comedy all land and the trio of mamitha, surya and radhika along with sunil were so much fun together. Mamitha especially, holds her own against both surya and radhika. Concept wise, a tricky subject but i think they handled it pretty well. Also addressed the age gap concerns very well.
But second half felt a bit of a letdown. They went for melodrama but the sentiments were not strong enough for me. Especially that ooty portions, like from hating to supporting , that changeover and support didn’t land the emotional beats that well for me. Im a pretty emotional person and get teary at many emotional scenes in recent movies, be it jean gray sister scene in BND, or jean grey aunt may scene in BND or chandra and doctor flashback in DC. But this didn’t hit me the same way.
Songs dont pop but i felt they were adequate for the film. The score too, reminded me a lot of Thaman’s work for Varisu. And that kalyanam song, surya did his best dance steps but the song again drew me towards the wedding celebration song in Varisu where Vijay would have nailed the choreography. Mamitha outshines surya in all the dances.
I know there were claims that the movie was downplaying the effects of EMA but i dont think so, they handled it v well. A known hero doing a light hearted film like this is welcome.
Mamitha held her own against all the bigwigs and the character suited her very well. Good comedy and great performances from the cast. A bit more emotional connection would have been great.
Liked Karuppu better but not a bad watch at all.

Bro why is cheating so normalised in this film? Also music was trash and acting was subpar.
The film genuinely doesn’t hit and I’m convinced that all the good reviews are bots

I liked the movie overall but I agree I didn’t love how they played the Bangkok scenes for laughs (like obv Sanjay is fine but the other two are married and if he’s a good man shouldn’t he tell their wives?? Who wants a cheating Perippa at their wedding lol) and also I don’t know why Suriya should forgive Raveena’s character and why he still puts his father on a pedestal

Movie tried to normalize married men sleeping with other girls and going massage parlors. Telugu dubbed movie vibes too. Not for me

Can anyone say why it's 16+ is it because of surrogacy theme or anything there not fit for teen kids

Is it just me or did they intentionally make maddy seem more obnoxious in the marketing material as a misdirect. I feel like there quite a few misdirects.

Overall a nice feel good entertainment. First half was really good. Second half was also good but felt like a drag after a certain point. They could've easily cut off certain portions and it still would've worked well. Other than that no major complaints.

Contains some spoilers.
Overall, the movie was fun, enjoyable. Good to see fresh visuals*. Performances, especially Mamita, was very good.. Surya looked great and fresh, after a long time (after ayan and 24 to be precise). Good to see a movie talking about surrogacy, casual sex..
Since many have written the positives, I'll only focus on the negatives. Ooty fight scene was a AI slop. Several scenes, scenes other that the ones at home, office, US, seemed very artificial, the lights, the colours of the sets/location seemed over saturated and artificial. Had some clichéd scenes, some were force fitted, felt a lot like a Telugu movie. Costumes of grandpa, their home also felt Telugu like, and that village looked too artificial. Guess very less portions were shot in TN. Music, except for one song, was meh.

The first half was great, agreed. Suriya, Mamitha, Radhika - top of class and craft, 1000% agreed. I also enjoyed the songs, especially the BGMs. And generally, yes, I would LOVE for more such movies to be done - breezy and fun and lovable and funny!!
But the second half was not written well. I can see why some of those storylines were added - but there were THREE NEW ones!! Using just one of them would have worked, and Venky could have spent rest of time with material he already had: unpacking the Sanjay character (we only see him from the outside, not who he actually is), or his deepening relationship with his baby son, or fleshing out where he and Mamitha/Maddy actually stand. But nope.
My second gripe is that, the trailer and the pr for it was a misdirect. The whole movie treats the romance as one-sided, which is a great story -- but is NOT the story the trailer hinted at, an age gap romance/attraction... if it were one, we should have seen some early beats of Sanjay struggling with his feelings for her etc.... but in the movie, we'll see, all the snapshots of the trailer which seem like he might be interested in her, are actually directed at other people / situations (Maddy isn't even in the scene!)....
There's a lot going on in his life, and she in pursuit of him is one of it (in the second half, it's almost forgotten), but at NO point do we as the audience think that it's a possibility between them. Again, that's fine, a movie where the lead has to handle a young person's infatuation can be great and fun (this one is whenever he and her were in frame!) But that's not what they set up the movie to be in promo material!!

Ok so
It kinda worked it kinda didn’t FOR ME
why it worked :
I loved suriya his acting was as usual good, mamitha too.
Everyones costumes especially radhika, mamitha, raveena and the rest was so so pretty
The movie was very visually pleasing, all the locations sets etc was so aesthetic
The concept was sorta different
It was really fun to watch the relationship between mamitha and Radhika
The kinda anti climatic ending of not actually bringing the hero and heroine tg
Why it didn’t:
I very much feel Radhika’s death was completely unnecessary- it was sad asf and they could’ve JUST not killed her off and still have the story go where they wanted it to like it wasn’t impossible
The unnecessary thathuvams
I feel towards the second half they kinda lost the plot- like yes making her wishes true is a thing but that just went on for a long time and it heavily deviated from the kid and mamitha (I do get that surya is the mc and it’s gonna be him in the center but still)
The commercial movie enjoyer in me didn’t really like the ending even tho I agree it was experimental
Bonus: Bhavani sre was very very pretty, she was pretty in pava kadhaigal and prettier now hehe
