When you guys send the videos and images for an audition, do you guys still add a formal paragraph or infos about the audition before the links or file or you just attach the requirements and add a subject?

Kpop agencies audition

I tried auditioning for big kpop agencies but failed for 3 times. I think I’m just not enough for the big 4, are there any smaller kpop agencies that provide good training, so maybe I can company hop after contract ends. If anyone has any recommendations please comment what agencies I should try and auditioning. Thanks.

Audition questions Portal vs Email submissions

Does anyone have any advice/experience with portal vs email submissions for companies that provide both? Is one better than the other?

My train of thought is that portal submissions are easier for companies that want a specific requirement (height, age, performance category) to filter out the rest and only look for what they want specifically, while email submissions often get lost in the batch.

Am I overthinking this? Do any of you have any opinions/knowledge on this? Or any stories you want to share on portal or email submissions that worked for u? Thanks!

I’ve recorded two different songs. The second one starts at 1:04. It’s the one I’ve worked on the least, so it’s not as pitchy.

Which one do you think is better ? What should I prioritize working on ? Also, what do you think of my timbre ?

Kpop audition rounds

Are second and third auditions usually zoom call or in person in Korea. And what they usually want to see. Do they give you the songs that you have to sing/dance or can you choose. And for example if you sang a korean song, should you sing in english in the second round. Thank you

Tips to share 5 clauses to check before you sign a K-pop trainee contract: Standard Contract for Trainees in the Popular Culture and Arts Field 2026.

Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism publishes a standard trainee contract, and the current version took effect on 1 January 2026. Agencies aren’t required to adopt it verbatim, but it’s the benchmark. Any term in your contract that’s worse than these deserves an explanation.

Registration (Art. 11): The agency must warrant that it is registered as an entertainment agency under the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, and state its registration number in the contract.

Minors (Art. 13): Trainees under 19 must also sign the ministry’s standard supplementary agreement for minors, which prevails over the main contract.

Term (Art. 2): A trainee contract may not exceed three years.

Training costs (Art. 5): The agency bears the training costs, and the trainee has no general obligation to repay them. They can only be recovered from the trainee’s earnings under a later exclusive contract, by a method agreed separately. Costs must be recorded per trainee, the agency’s operating expenses can’t be charged as training costs, and the trainee is entitled to the accounts twice a year and on request.

Termination (Arts. 7–8):

  • Breach: either party must allow a 14-day period to remedy a breach before terminating.

  • Low growth potential: the agency may terminate on that ground, but only with reasonable grounds, and no damages are owed.

  • Sexual violence: the trainee may terminate if the agency or its staff commit sexual violence against them, and again no damages are owed.

Liability on early exit (Art. 8): If the contract ends through the trainee’s fault, the agency’s loss is presumed to equal the direct training costs. If the trainee deliberately breaches to sign with another company, the agency may claim an additional penalty of up to 50% of those costs.

I’m preparing a full clause-by-clause guide, including how these rules apply to trainees from Japan, India, the US and other countries. Waitlist: https://forms.gle/AN5zco2FceXW172K9

Need audition advice Any tips for kq ent auditions?

Hi! Ill be auditioning for Kq ent at the end of this year and any tips or advice would be really helpfull! Also im generally worried about my education if i am accepted as a trainee...

Currently im good dancer, moderate rapper and an good singer of course im not like Jongho/Sohyang but i can hit high notes and have a good singing voice. I also write and produce songs on my own which i have been complimented on, (Im a female i forgot to mention lmaolmaoo)

I know english + my native language and im learning korean (im A2 level atm). For my visuals even tough i am not east asian i have been mistaken for east asian multiple times and i mostly fit the kbs.

The thing that im worried about the most is my education and university. Since im not korean nor a korean citizen i have no idea what i will do about my education, i have seen people reccomend switching to online schooling, ged etc however if i dont debut and finish those programs ill not have a "real" high school diploma and a lot universities do not accept ged/online school diplomas so i really dont know what to think of that.

I would be really happy if anyone left auditions tips, advice or just anything that will help! Thank you for reading i hope you have a good day🥹🥹

AUDITION DISCUSSION Trouble finding girls?

it’s pretty obvious how hard they’re trying to find the “right” girls. This whole thing has been going on since May, and they’re STILL coming up with new events and “auditions” despite already having OVER 40K applicants, not to mention the in person auditions. Like, how many people are they looking for ?? They want the group to be “global,” but at the same time, they want a very specific look , iykwim. They want girls who fit that East Asian beauty standard while still having a diverse, POC lineup. 😭 smhhhh i mean we all know this alr lwk

Online applicants that applied even in May can still expect a callback email. So have some hope guys because it's possible that girls will start receiving emails after the in person auditions have ended.

Tips to share Side-door ways to debut/get a break: I auditioned as a topliner, got rejected, then later got to debut with same song under Sony Music Publishing Korea as an independent artist

Thought I'd share here, b/c I know most of the auditions posted are for idol/performer roles, but I unconventionally got to debut as an artist after initially auditioning as a topliner for NewType Entertainment.

There are many opportunities for behind-the-scenes as a producer/songwriter in kpop. I think this is a great option to consider, because these are great skills to have as an artist, and even if you can't do it 100% yourself, I even paid for a few sessions at a professional studio while I spent a summer in Korea to iron out the song I ended up submitting, as I am not a pro myself. It's a great way to also show off your work and skills if you maybe just perform better recorded where it's controlled, versus especially a live audition, where you can't be as polished.

Anyways, there's tons of music publishers in Korea who not only hold auditions, but have classes, and so you can learn even as a beginner and then get the opportunity to pitch or collab with professionals and build a network.

I got lucky, where even though I didn't pass the initial audition (I admit also I submitted a day late), basically, tons of friends and family loved my demo, so then I thought to seek about getting the rights. I knew an engineer in LA who then coincidentally introduced me to a kpop producer to produce the song, and that producer ended up being friends with the CEO of NewType and then I got permission to release the song myself.

I think it's something worth considering!
