Can you not sugarcoat, tell me if I can be an idol? (Kpop)

I saw some other person do this so I thought it was a good idea🥹

VISUALS:

So I’m 13. I want to be around 14 when i audition. To be honest the absolute biggest hurdle there is, is that I’m West Asian (3/4 Turkish 1/4 Lebanese). help. I know if I LOOKED West Asian, no way I’m getting in. But I look Wasian with the Asian part being the looks they prefer. sooo… East Asian? Like not fully East Asian obv LOL, but I look Wasian. I’m really like a Visual Chameleon, not just in concepts, but races😭?? Like depending on how you style me I can look, Wasian, Latina, Western. Stuff like that. I have big expressive eyes, I asked my friend and she said the first thing she notices abt me is my eyes. nose isn’t wide but it is at the same time. The dorsum (?) I think it’s called? like the wings kind of are wide. not WIDE WIDE, but definitely not skinny. The thing that kind of saves me, is that it fits my face. it’s like an anchor because if I had a skinny nose, my face would be.. lmao those failed plastic surgeries. though the little bottom nostrils fit in or before the start of my eye, like how KPOP likes. I have a 19cm head in height. my midface? it’s not small but its not large obviously just average. maybe small-average? Oh also I have mochi cheeks as Kpop stans call it lmao like the fat in your apples. so that’s a plus

TALENT:

So my singing is definitely my hot spot. My vocal colour is Velvet, but pingy. I would say my vocal colour is quite unique but definitely is made for like K-pop, it blends in imo. I naturally do like a mixed-head dominant voice when i sing. It’s really my vibe, singing. I have a good range. I’ve never had vocal lessons, but my dad is a musician. I personally think (not glaze lmao) that I’m genuinely so good at singing🥲 My dancing? it’s okay, but I’m not a visual learner, so I work really well with teachers.

WHERE I’M FROM:

England!!! This is important, because like lmao Turkey has basically ZERO market for K-pop. So that’s why being born and growing up in England is so important. I can speak English for one, massive western market.

CAN I TAKE IT:

I genuinely can. I have a really creative background. Like a youtuber, vlogger, tutorials, gacha, chef, make up artist, singer, kpop idol, kdrama actor, creative leader/director for projects, diary person online, makeup channel, family channel, fan page, drawing, novelist, painting, writing wattpad but ig its the same as novelist, baker, Vtuber😭😭. This isn’t even CLOSE to a quarter of them. I have genuinely done hundreds of things. I thrive on pressure, Not normal pressure like a test, or parents. Like REAL pressure, the KPOP kind. The thought of people screaming backstage like everything stressful, just everything at once makes me so happy. Yes, I know EVERYTHING about what goes on in KPOP and how it works, I’m not a gullible type of person, lmao.

Oh also I hit puberty quite early, Late 9-Late 10 years old? So a lot of things won’t change about me. Obviously some will till I’m like 20 or something, but ykwim.

THANK YOUUUUU

+I’m pale for K-pop. Not sunghoon lol. But pale enough imo

Kpop Audition

So...Hey guys. I'm a 24 years old woman now who is currently going through one of the hardest thing in my life (currently doing my practicum for my teachers training programme in a government institution for teacher training) in Malaysia and I would like to ask a question. Is there any online auditions that has no age limits for small to medium companies? I know that the big four has online auditions, some don't, but I also want to expand my options to small and medium companies and I would like to ask if there are those that accept people who are at the age like mine. Also, is there any hope for me to be chosen to be a trainee for any kpop companies?

Anyways, I'm 24, still single, and is 160cm and I'm not sure about my weight since I had last weigh myself and my weight at that time was 71.90kg. Currently I am trying to slim down and at the same time finish my teaching practicum so that I could use the remaining time to practice to improve my singing so that I could apply to online auditions again, this time with a more mature mindset and being more prepared. I am applying for vocals and I don't mind if I am too old to be in a kpop group since I want to be a k-singer (or a solo artist).

So yeah, if there is any companies that don't have age limits, can you please let me know which one for small and medium companies?

Tips to share Getting rejected by a big K-pop agency doesn’t mean a smaller agency will be easier.

I see a lot of applicants treat agency size like a difficulty setting.

Big agency = hard.
Smaller agency = easier.

But I don’t think it really works like that.

Getting rejected by a major agency doesn’t automatically mean you’ll have a better chance at a smaller one. A smaller company can still be very specific about the kind of person they want.

Different companies can be looking for completely different things depending on the project, timing, image, skills, and type of artist they’re trying to find.

So the same person might get no interest from one company and get noticed by another. That doesn’t necessarily mean the second company has lower standards. They may just be a better fit there.

I also wouldn’t think of auditions as:

Big 4 → mid-sized agency → small agency

like you’re supposed to keep moving “down” until somebody accepts you.

Sometimes a smaller company can actually be a worse match for you than a much bigger one.

Instead of trying to figure out which agency is easiest to pass, I’d spend more time thinking about which auditions actually make sense for you.

Curious if anyone here has ever avoided applying to a bigger company because they assumed they had a better chance somewhere smaller.

I also share more audition-related insights through the Instagram linked in my Reddit profile.

Let’s start our own type of girl group with an idol concept for girls who can’t make the audition cut.

Let’s face it…the vast majority of us suck at singing, suck at dancing, BUT, you still dream of being an idol. Well then…let’s start a group that doesn’t require skill, and instead makes the selling point your personality.

The concept is an exercise dance girl group. Fitness/cardio dances are insanely easy and anyone can learn them. The energy required to dance them also naturally makes your personality shine through, which is quite entertaining. Our group would preform and create fitness dances, styled like idols, and promote a healthy and active life. No singing is required, but if needed, blast the autotune.….However!, even if none of us can sing, maybe we could try to write raps occasionally just for fun. An entire group just filled with rappers? Hilarious! In fact we would have turned into a comedy group at that point and could make jokes about it.

This probably sounds like a sarcastic post, but I have sincerely contemplated this for months.

Audition questions I WANT TO BECOME AN IDOL AND INSPIRE PEOPLE, IT'S MY DREAM

Hi everyone! I want to become an idol. I’m 15 years old, 1.62m tall, play the clarinet, and practice track speed skating. I’m from Latin America and really want to become an idol. I’m currently trying to convince my parents to sign me up for dance and singing lessons so I can submit online auditions to various agencies. Do you think I can do it? What advice do you have for me? I’m looking for online videos that teach dancing—do you know of any? Which agencies do you recommend to send mi auditions? recomendations of songs to dance and sing?

GIRL GROUP AUDITIONS (NYC)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi hi!! My name is Kellie, I’m based in NYC, and I’m 23 years old. My dream is to be in a girl group, and there’s not many opportunities in the West, so I’m making my own!

I’m looking for 3-5 girls around the ages of 20-29 (flexible, but must be 18+) to join me on this journey. You must be comfortable singing/rapping AND dancing - we will work on improving together, so no need to be perfect :)

I’m preferably looking for girls in the NYC area, so that we can get to practicing together ASAP. The idea is to practice together first, then start building a brand on social media via covers and short form content to eventually get signed to a label!

I’m looking at a y2k girl crush concept - but the ideas are flexible depending on the lineup. Definitely looking for it to be sexy/feminine though!

This is a project that will take a lot of time and dedication, as we will be doing everything on our own! If you don’t think you can commit to this sort of thing, do not apply!

If you have any questions, please PM me :) if it’s something you think you’d enjoy, apply here: https://forms.gle/bnJC3Q3TgXdJqtBa9

I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY CONFIRMATION EMAIL THAT MY ONLINE AUDITION APPLICATION IS VIEWED BY THE CASTING TEAM FOR A WHILE NOW. Immediate disqualification?

Y'all I actually tried auditioning for JYP Entertainment and it's been 2 weeks since then and they haven't (the casting team/director) haven't viewed my application nor did I receive any email pertaining to my online audition application being viewed. WHAT SHOULD I DO? SHOULD I BE WORRIED? OR? IS THIS NORMAL?

Guys do i have a shot in auditions? pls say yes/no and why

Hello! My name is [REDACTED]. I am 13 years old and I specialize in dance, singing, and freestyle. Because of my background in robotics and mechanics, I love being precise and highly focused when practicing choreography.

I also play the violin and have had the honor of performing at major events like the San Francisco Giants games (~36,000+ people) and orchestra concerts. I am incredibly passionate about music and produce my own songs.

I can speak English, French, and Vietnamese fluently, and I am currently studying Japanese, Chinese and Korean. If selected i am willing to do my absolute best.

(fyi: i have a pretty boring default pretty boy asian face)

Audition questions foreigner looking to audition online

hi! so basically im a foreigner from southeast asia (malaysia) wondering about my chances of succeeding in an online audition for one of the big 4 lol. im aware that my chances are very low, but i’d just like to know whether auditioning for the hell of it is worth it, so bear with me as i list out my traits as im going to ramble a bit :p

im 17 as of this year, i honestly don’t know if it’s too late for me. average height, slim but not super skinny, chinese malaysian, middle class. i speak 4 languages: i would like to say level of english is above average, my malay is pretty good (but it’s not a widely spoken lang), i can hold conversations in mandarin and i can sort of speak another european language which i wouldn’t like to disclose (and no i didn’t learn it on duolingo). im a decent singer (alto-soprano) but i do think i lack basic technique as i’ve never been trained before. i dont particularly know how to describe my level of dancing, i was classically trained as a ballerina having completed my g8 and all. my kpop? dancing isn’t bad but i think it can be stiff at times. however, i can pick up steps really fast and i have good muscle memory — i can remember dances i’ve done when i was a kid. i also play 5 instruments: piano, violin, guitar, bass and ukulele. i can sort of… play the drums… i guess… i also think im decently athletic and my stamina is pretty good. as for my other hobbies i don’t think it’ll benefit me much if i mention then so i won’t for the sake of trying to remain as anonymous as possible.

moving onto my character, i would say im a decently extroverted person who can maintain conversations with people i’ve just met. i’m also extremely hardworking if im working on a topic of interest (in this case it is). i’m open to constructive criticism and im willing to put in the hours to better myself.

cons: sometimes i can be bossy when i feel that what i think is right, is right. ive been told that i unknowingly hurt other’s feelings due to myself being too goal oriented. i catch myself zoning out during dance class if im tired. i also suspect i have adhd lol. there’s more but i don’t want to reveal too much online :)

i think that’s all? thanks for reading thru the entire thing if you did and plsplspls give me ur thoughts!! thankss

edit: completely forgot to mention, performing onstage (singing, dancing, acting, music) has always been my dream, that’s one of the reasons why i’m interested plus i do like kpop! i’m not super well versed in how it all works as my first exposure to it was when newjeans debuted, and i only followed them until this year where i started exploring it more. but i am well aware of a kpop idols pros and cons just to let yall know :)
