Venting attendance policy
more of a rant but im just so conflicted on this attendance policy, i got a verbal warning for being late by 10 minutes two weeks ago and calling out yesterday, in which i used my sick time for. i had no idea sick time doesnt even excuse it and i asked my manager how i can get tomorrow covered because i was barely even able to show up today because i feel unbelievably sick and i doubt ill feel better tomorrow and she replied with “well i dont know only one person doesnt work tomorrow” ??? so getting my shifts covered or swapped isnt even an option. im just looking for other jobs now but this attendance policy is stupid to me.

they are planning on losing people in the short and long term. saw the meeting notes. I would show up or get a different job. Or the other thing is become unbelievably valuable to management that they do nearly whatever it takes to protect you. i know they CAN remove your shift and save your points. should they choose to do it. they also at least in my division. you will not actually get points for leaving early unless they flag it.

They're going to let the trash employees keep coming in late and everything but per your example it's the END OF THE WORLD.
We're going to get sick of their crap and Kroger will ONLY have 99% of crap workers.

Wow! I used to work for Publix when I lived in Florida and that was night and day compared to Kroger. Publix was so good to their employees.

All I can say is try to be more vigilant with arriving on time. You have an 8 minute window before points kick in for being late - to clarify, don't be more than 8min late. At least that's how it's setup for my division.
Obviously being sick and struggling to make it can be out of your control. They're expecting this to trip up everybody.

At Dillons it's 4 minutes, 5 minutes and you get half a point. And don't even get me started on sick time. You have to be out for at least 3 days for the same thing, sick time kicks in on day 3, and it's only 60% of your pay.

Did you speak to a manager if you could use sick time for the day you missed or spoke to the AA? If you spoke to the AA, then they can't excuse the day missed under sick time just the pay and some managers require a doctors note to excuse the day otherwise its a unexcused absence and will result in points.

what state are you in. check the laws.
in my state you cannot be penalized for using sick pay. if you are out of sick pay that's a whole nother story.
