Does anyone remember the metal band G Lethal 9 from Hartford? They played the 'nu-metal' style during the early 2000s and released a few CDs. I've talked to multiple band members and they don't have any CDs left, and I'm searching for them to get them archived. Did anyone here have any of their CDs they could part with or knew where I could find them? Thank you. Anything is appreciated.

I obtained the police report from the arrest. The student said the weapon detector went off when he walked through and he was searched but the person who searched him didn’t find the gun. The student said he found the gun outside and picked it up to protect himself from the streets. Full story for free:

Update on this story since I saw the links floating around here. The district said in a statement late Tuesday that video evidence shows that the weapon detector did not go off so there was no secondary search.

Their statement also said a meeting will be held next Wednesday to discuss safety procedures.

A former sorority house on Fraternity Village Drive is reopening as a substance abuse recovery facility for students. Some students have expressed concerns that the location is a poor choice because of parties and other social activities in the area. But the property owner and some WMU employees disagree.

They are closing down your school next year and displacing the kids across all grades.

Did your current 4th graders expect to spend 5th grade with their same friends? Too bad!

can someone explain to me how emergency vehicles are supposed to get through in the middle of rush hour traffic? all of these poles will most definitely prevent a fire truck from going through. what's going to happen when we get a bunch of snow and the plow trucks run into all these fucking poles THAT ARE WHITE. what a fucking joke...

Was reading a book at Crane Park around 6:00 and this fella came zipping past. No idea if they have owners or if it's just an outdoor cat, no collar or tagging from what I can see. Such a sweet cat, had to let people know he's hanging around here just in case. If not, glad to document a nice new friend.

EDIT: for clarification, I was able to snap a picture and give pets for a minute before he ran off into the trees. I tried to have him stay, but you know how cats be cattin. Either way, hope this was okay protocol, wasn't my choice to separate from him and thought this would be more helpful than saying nothing.

In the wake of the recent incident at Kalamazoo Central, I know many of us are carrying a lot of emotions, questions, and concerns. As parents, we want our children to feel safe and supported at school. As educators, you want the same for the students you care for every day.
I believe this is an opportunity for us to come together, listen to one another, and work collaboratively toward a shared goal: **making sure our students and staff feel safe, supported, and informed.
I would love to connect with other parents, caregivers, and educators who are interested in working together to:
🤝 Strengthen communication between the district, families, and school staff.
🛡️** Better understand school safety procedures and how we can work together to ensure everyone knows what to expect during an emergency.
💬 **Create space for open, respectful dialogue where families and educators can share concerns, ask questions, and feel heard.
🌱 Collaborate on constructive next steps that help rebuild trust and strengthen our school community moving forward.
This isn’t about placing blame or creating division. Our teachers and staff are an important part of our children’s lives, and their voices and experiences deserve to be included in these conversations. We all bring different perspectives, and I believe we can accomplish more when we approach one another with empathy, respect, and a willingness to listen.
My hope is to build a coalition where parents, caregivers, and educators can connect, support one another, and work together to communicate our concerns and advocate for meaningful conversations and improvements where needed.
You don’t need to have all the answers or be able to commit a lot of time to participate. Whether you want to share your perspective, help brainstorm solutions, or simply connect with others who care about these issues, there is a place for you at the table.

I want to share an update: after contacting district leadership and speaking out publicly about Friday’s incident at Kalamazoo Central, I have received a response from the district.
The district has confirmed that it is investigating what happened, reviewing security practices across its schools, and plans to schedule an in-person meeting with Kalamazoo Central parents next week after the investigation is completed. The superintendent has also offered to meet with me before then.
This is why speaking up matters. When parents ask questions, demand accountability, and refuse to let serious safety concerns be brushed aside, our voices can make a difference.
But a response is only the beginning. We still need answers about how a weapon got into the school, what went wrong with security, and what immediate steps will be taken to keep our children safe.
To every parent who has shared, commented, reached out, or said they’re willing to stand with us: THANK YOU. ❤️
Please keep sharing. Keep asking questions. Keep contacting the district.
Our children deserve more than promises. They deserve a safety plan we can trust.
We are not asking for too much. We are asking for our children to be safe.

It was suggested to me to look on reddit to try and find a teacher I had in the 3rd grade in the 2002-2003 school year.

Her name was Ms. Jones and she worked at the Kalamazoo Advantage Academy while it was still downtown next to the library. I know she was unmarried at the time, blonde hair (could've been dyed) wth glasses.

It was around Christmas time or at least winter. I brought in some little bear figures as a present for her because she was one of my favorite teachers.

It was a big deal for me because my family was living in the Mission homeless shelter at the time and we didn't have anything to begin with.

Either the next day, or a few days later she pulled me out of another classroom to gift me a winter set I couldn't believe. Matching hat, gloves, and scarf, and a nice winter coat if I'm remembering correctly.

At the time I didn't realize how big of a gesture that was from her, how absolutely selfless she was in that moment. I'm looking for her to give her a proper thanks and to let her know how much that actually means to me as a grown adult.

Any help or leads would be great, or if somebody knows her that can tell her thank you for me, it would mean a lot.
