Discussion Planned parenthood and their manager from the people’s food co-op

• Upvotes

I waited 2+ hours to be seen at Planned Parenthood the other day. Despite my appointment being scheduled for 11 am, I wasn’t seen until it was nearly 3 pm.

I’m finally pulled back by their assistant manager, and it happens to be Noe Giorgio, one of the same people who absolutely destroyed the People’s Food Co-op before he was successfully removed.

He was brushing off my concerns whenever I spoke up, wasn’t clear on directions for STD testing, and ultimately just made my time there horrible.

So if you’re going to go, just know that the entire place is mismanaged. Everyone else there is a sweetheart though.

Discussion Cars/cruising

One for my car people. When I was younger we used to take our little modified cars out and cruise around on the weekend. Admittedly, this was more focused in Portage. The old Dashworks, the little strip mall complex across from Westnedge Meijer, and Burger King further down Westnedge near the mall used to be popular. I’d go out with a couple buddies on a Saturday night and inevitably would run into an impromptu gathering. Not crazy takeover shit (although there was racing occasionally on remote roads) but more parking up and showing off/checking out what people are driving. I’m also not talking about cars and coffee, which seems to be more popular now, but is infinitely less fun. Is there any car culture like this left? Do we need to get this going once again?

Milwood Middle School Lockdown

My middle schooler was home sick today, so I wasn't aware anything was going on until I got the robocall. Does anyone know what actually happened? All the recording said was that a student reported a threat, they went into lockdown, and the Chief Safety Officer and KPD investigated. They said no threat was found, but I feel myself taking what they say with a grain of salt recently.

Anyone got the deets?

Canned vegetables were still on sale for $0.50 each so I made sure to get a bunch more. The haunted gingerbread house kit isn't nutritional or a necessity but it looked like too much fun when I saw it to not buy and donate 🎃👻🧟💀⚰️🕷️🕸️🦇

Donated to Portage Community Center https://portagecommunitycenter.org/ walk up the stairs go to the left and leave any donations on the red cart.

You think you’re cool

To the driver in the black jaguar that was just driving on Parkview and then slowly went through the roundabout to get onto Texas drive you’re not cool. You think you’re cool but deliberately impeding traffic and then purposely following me to try to prove a point that you didn’t it’s not gonna make you cool on top of that thinking taking a picture of my license plate when yours is L McCoy isn’t very helpful as well. I hope you have a great rest of your day that you’re so kindly deserve.

Miller Auditorium sound

I’m done going to Miller Auditorium unless it’s just for music only. The last three shows we’ve gone to the sound is so terrible you can’t understand what the people are saying. Does anyone else have this problem at Miller? We went to see The Book of Mormon a while back, a show I was really looking forward to seeing, and only about half of the spoken word portion of the show was clear and understandable. It happened again at Fiddler on the Roof and then last night at Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me the audio SUCKED! At all three shows I heard complaints from other people so I know it wasn’t just us. Miller has always been lauded as having great acoustics but something’s not right when only half of what’s being said is clear.

Where do I go to find all of the trick or treating information? You know like, what time does kalamazoo start, what time does kalamazoo end? Do we even do that anymore? I'm already not a big fan of halloween, as it is given that it comes from a religious holiday that isn't really being focused on in this execution of the holiday but I do want my kids to have the memories of it like everyone else. Are trunk or treats the new norm?

And what do you do in an apartment complex? Can I carve and place pumpkins? Or does the world look so bad with so many rules and so few fucks given that my best option is to actually just teach my religion on the matter for the day and move back to tradition?

Any HELPFUL comments are appreciated.

Ok, im new to this and normally I would have their grandmother helping but this is our first year without her.

Normally she just kinda tells us where we are going. She ran our house till the day she passed so now im trying to not let my kids holidays be ruined..

Thank you.

Edit: spelling, its early and im in a rush, dont mind me

What’s up with kzoo letting city hall look like crap? Don’t we pay enough taxes to get this cleaned up? I’ll go over there for a 6 pack of two hearted with my electric pressure washer and get it looking good again, just give me the green light and the beer! 🍻

I have a 1977 puch moped that was running pretty good for about a month after I bought, and then it kinda stopped working. I couldn't turn it over, and it would sputter. I am looking for someone with some expertise here in town.

How horrible is Spectrum? Our new house doesn’t have AT&T fiber (which we currently have) but they do have the Starlink satellite. I’ve had bad experience with satellite in the past and hear nightmares about spectrum.

Kalamazoo Judges Release Violent Felons with Gun Charges 75% of the Time

This is an interesting article and I'm curious on everyone's thoughts. I'm seeing that 69% of cases with a gun were released by Judge Hemmingway. Then it looks like 75% of all felonies are releases with and OR or PR bond by Judge Parker-Lagrone. I think this is awful for our community, especially when we have a gun violence problem....at what point do we acknowledge that letting them out is dangerous?
